02-07-2012 - Hotfix incoming

To quote 2K Greg from the 2K forums:
Quote:
Hey everyone,

Later this afternoon, we'll be releasing a small patch to Civilization V to address several issues that have been reported since the big patch.

[PREVIOUS SAVES]
  • Older saves with DLC leaders (including Genghis) will no longer "shift" when loaded into the patched game.

[CRASH FIXES]
  • If a user does not have a religion, and receives a religion from another Civ, setting the "automated faith purchase" option could previously cause a crash when the purchase tries to fire for either the player, or the AI.
  • Fixed an issue where a user could click on a city banner during the AI turn, and the game could crash depending what AI process is happening at the time of the "click".
  • Into the Renaissance
  • If an AI player has open borders and a friendly relationship with another Civ, they would sometimes send a Great Admiral to park in their city. If the city tries to purchase a civilian unit while the Great Admiral is parked there, the game could crash. This is corrected.
  • Scenario hang
  • There was a chance that when you won a scenario, the game could hang. This has been corrected
  • Fixed an issue where any user with special characters in their Windows name will be unable to load saves.
  • If a player has Steam in "offline mode", and clicks on Mods, into the modding area and then backs out, the game could crash. This is now corrected.
  • Game Hang on turn 0
  • After patching, many have reported being unable to interact with units or end the first turn. This is now corrected.
  • Game could previously hang on "Unit Needs Orders" after the player clicks next turn. This has been corrected, and the camera snap has been fixed.
  • A crash that could occur in Hot Seat if the game core threading had been disabled is fixed.

[BUG FIXES]
  • Fall of Rome Scenario
  • Golden Ages were switched to providing bonus culture earlier in project. We've removed the culture bonus from Golden Ages for the scenario.
  • Open Borders that do not exist
  • If the AI is trying to renew an open borders agreement, but has something more important to talk about in the queue, the system would still record the Open Borders agreement as being active (even though it is not actually in place). This has been corrected.
  • Military Caste (+2 culture from garrison) was not working correctly. Whenever a civilian unit embarks, bulbs, or is deleted, it subtracted 2 culture, and kept adding up each time this happened, leaving the city at permanent negative culture. This has been corrected.
  • The "Peace Loving" belief was not functioning. This has been corrected.
  • When cities bombard attacking units, death animations would now play correctly.

Has anyone else experienced a bug where the camera would uncontrollably shift to the corner of the screen upon being attacked by an enemy unit? The patch notes here do not address this issue and I have been experiencing this problem continually since Gods and Kings released.

I have the occasional 'screen rolls uncontrollably during 'please wait'.

It's rather annoying, but seems to stop as soon as it's my turn. Doesn't happen often, but I've seen it. Had it happen last night.

I've seen this problem before. This only happens when I'm scrolling the map by placing the mouse cursor at the edge of the screen while the game is transitioning between my turn and the AI's turn. If the map happens to be scrolling around when this happens, it gets stuck that way until the AI finishes their turn, which could take a while since the map scrolling uses precious CPU cycles.

Firaxis knows about this (check bug subforum). I believe it will be fixed - the camera snap thing mentioned in patchnotes.

The issue has an entire thread dedicated to it. Do we honestly need to talk some more about it?

I am sure another patch will be coming soon that will fix it and finally do some proper balancing

Something like this. Before G&K I could click around on the map/mini between turns and check stuff out but in G&K this either doesn't work or puts the game/camera into a potentially seizure inducing loop/move thing.

Good to see that.
Will hopefully result in less threads in the tech support area .

Hope there's more in the queue .

It was actually messed up in the last vanilla patch for me. It's well annoying.

Me too. That seemed a bit underwhelming, although I guess it's good they just focused on crashes and bugs without waiting to add other things to the patch.

it seems to be essentially a patch for all the bigger problem sources.
Which is nice, because it means they noticed the direct big problems and cared to fix them as fast as possible .

I meant more that I guess there were maybe more things already done, but are still in QA, but this here is just the first batch .

Edit: And thanks Greg .

It has something to do with you moving the screen around while the AI attacks. The trick is to try not to move the screen around while you wait for the AI to play out its turn. Its still annoying and I found myself moving about causing this to happen regardless of knowing this happens. Would be nice if they tried to fix it.

Anybody noticing a rather annoying glitch where a unit is select but is immediately skipped to another one and only after you move that unit it is returned to the other?

I've been scoutign with a Spearman and a Scout and everytime it was my turn the camera panned to Scout for a second THEN back to Spearman to move him, (not saying I couldn't move the Scout, it just was 2nd in queue, but everytime my turn started the camera panned to Scout first, which made it rather annoying).
