You need BUFFY and some courage or S&M aptitude for save to work.

Some Intro:
Boudica is totally into war and chaos and presenting human sacrifices to her Pantheon. Her karma got really bad in the process and this map is her punishment.

Karma: ''Ha, Boudica, you think you can whip, pillage and kill? Would a bit better attitude towards other people hurt? Ha! I know someone who can do it better. Eat grass, Boudica! Serves you right!''

But karma should know better cause wicked neighbour only means more human flesh powering her War Machine, just like her gods love the most. That's the reason one should only go for military victory with this start. UN is allowed, but only if people voting for Boudica are Boudica's vassals living under her hegemony and giving her their firstborns for her Wicker Man (filled with real men).

Hint:
Spoiler :
You probably wouldn't want to SIP. Do the logical moves and you'll be rewarded. (But don't expect too much :D).

Hint 2:
Spoiler :
Forget optimization. With warmongers, you want archers and barracks ASAP. If you don't get them, you'll get a DoW, from other end of the map if need be. You also want to minimize close borders, so don't get too cocky.:)

Info:
Spoiler :
After I've played a bit into the game, I have replayed the start 3 times just to see will RNG mess things up like in Mao game. And I can say I am satisfied with the results. Settling pattern from your neighbour(s) was always the same. So this map should provide almost the same experience for all.

And last:
Spoiler :
Repetitio ist mater studiorum. So don't be afraid to fail.

Gulp!

Phew got rewarded.
Settle. Rage mode!!!! FUFUFUFUUUUU!

Awww...not him!

Tempted to troll him from settling his second city with my scout, but that is going to be a simple go to hell...!

Spoiler :

^^
Spoiler :
Lol! Handpicked leaders, but map is totally untampered, Tell me if He found buddhism in his second city, and did he settle into you.

Yes, he did. F-ck off
Spoiler :
feathered b-tch!

Oh my! That looks some scenario from Heroes II called Pyramids where the next logical opponent is stronger than the last!

------------------

Ooohhh. Let's do some super archer rush!

-------------------

Too early my friend! TOO EARLY!

Spoiler :

Then, course of the game is set.:)

GL HF!

Gotta go, 7:20AM here!!!

One Very Important Hint (VIH) I learned lurking SGOTM: Explore the map!

Shoot.

I have a crazy strategy...

Spoiler :
Grab those horses near Monty if possible and Oracle HBR. Now how to grab thoses...?

Awww...not another Whipping Paradise!

Spoiler :

Why you!
Now my supreme suboptimal first attempt strategy is a supreme fail. Not a frigging strategic resource, iron lost to Monty and culture will take aeons to take iron back!

Spoiler :
Try again from 2600 BC autosave. Will accumulate cash and let other civs tech IW, so I gather many little tech modifier when I go full science. Maybe I'll spare some turns. Third city goes to stoopid iron desert strip.

EDIT:
Spoiler :
Let's forget the Iron rush. Well, I approached 50%, then my culture control went backward due to Monty's wheat city. Come on! That thing is evil!

Do you have BULL?
BULL can "transform" a BUFFY save into a workable save...

One Very Important Hint (VIH) I learned lurking SGOTM: Explore the map!
Quoted for AbsoluteZero... Please, do ! :D

On my part, I've "explored" the map 'till 1200 BC :

Spoiler :
Yet another galley friendly map, isn't it ? Such a natural pleasure on Pangaea...

Settling :
Settled on the plains hills (killed the fish...)
Dismissed the wheat/clam spot early, judging it too risky with Monty.
1 city up north by the clams/floodplains.
1 galley, one settler, go go islands.

Tech path : AH, Mining, Sailing, Pottery, Masonry, Bronze, Writing.
Had some iddle worker turns but... what can you do ?
GLH is still being built (5 turns from completion, I think).

Now I'll ponder how to enter the classical era. Aesthetics is a sure bet but I'd like to get Construction asap. So maybe Maths is better, if it doesn't lock me out of trades, that is. I'm hesitant to gamble on a late Oracle as well ; I could get it done in 20 turns from now. It seems hammers would be better spent on settlers, though.
Julius will have Alphabet by the time I get to my first classical tech, which is good. He's been stuck on three cities since Shaka DoWed him super early.
Shaka and Monty are Buddhist, the religion spread to me and I'll revolt when I have my 1st (and probably only) wonder. So that seems pretty safe, for now.

Greeks have Hinduism. Nobody's revolted into Judaism, maybe Monty founded the religion.
Well, I'll see. Maybe I'll just try to tech up but it may be a bit unreasonnable on this map.

Thanks for hosting, Shakabrade :)

Howabout a normal save for those of us who can't get buffy to work? ( yes I've tried all the straightforward stuff, I would have to mess with my computer way more then I care to to get it to work )

unless there are locked modified assets I could try to do WB save and "normal" save...

not sure why you didn't get buffy to work :-). There are conflicts with BUG/BULL in CustomAssets though and needs to be fixed (I consider this the obvious thing though).

in buffy.ini you can set "NoCustomAssets" to 1 (that solves BUG in CustomAssets), for the BULL problem you usually have to replace the BULL CvGameCore.dll with original one.

then are the "run as administrator" obvious things, nothing else comes to mind.

BUFFY always works for me. For BUG/BULL to work, you need to replace original game .dll with BULL .dll. Problem can start if you deleted original .dll, for I think BUFFY needs that file. However, I always mess that stuff. That's the reason I use BUFFY only since I want to be able to play HoF and XOTMs if need be. And it is good enough of a tool.

Locked Modified Assets are on so noone (including me) gets crazy ideas about worldbuilderig. That probably prevents this save from tampering and turning it into BUG/BULL. I thought that wouldn't matter much since most deity players play official games here so they have BUFFY working but I'd really like that AZ, who I learned a lot from, plays my map and gets frustrated in the process, like he often does.:D (TMIT made me Immortal player, while Kossin and AZ unlocked deity for me.)

@BiC

Galleys transport settlers here, period. (Don't do too crazy stuff here like the last time :D). Hope you'll get GLH (my GLH went superearly for these leaders), and then settle every coast possible. If you explore well, you might have a shot at grabbing some resources.

Spoiler :
Tachy settled PH too and also killed a fish. I didn't. I settled S of PH cause I didn't want to kill 2:hammers: from PH once I saw I had enough food to work all mines even before fish was revealed. And also wanted Moai in my capital (something I do lately because of Bureau bonus and especially on peninsula where you can easly get boxed in, and I don't get why it is so rarely seen in games). There was also decent chance that after 21 coastal tiles, one should have seafood in fog of war. Also, I got rid of a plains tile. So that was my logic after my settling. It would still be slightly better than settling PH, even without fish.

I love sharing frustration, so no needs to thank me.:D

@Tachywaxon

Tomorrow, I'll bring along how many tiles you can steal from them before getting negmods.

Looking forward to that. :) Very very useful info.

On game:
Spoiler :

Now my supreme suboptimal first attempt strategy is a supreme fail. Not a frigging strategic resource, iron lost to Monty and culture will take aeons to take iron back!

Well, I didn't get attempt to settle it. I did have a settler for wheat+iron (I didn't know iron was there) but decided against it. I thought it was impossible to keep tiles have it with pressure from holy city which could always build a shrine or wonder or two. Then wanted to settle island north but Shaka got there surprisingly early. Settler then waited for scout to find possible city site with resource or two.

Now you finally see true evil behind this map. No horses, no metal. No lucky rush. No land, no stone for Mids. (Whoever gets the Mids is depending on luck too much).

@ALL

Another hints on the game:
Diplo is most important stuff in situations like this one. It will make you safe and will make you overcome WFYABTA. If you don't have high bpt, use bulbs and broker techs carefully. Make every beaker count. This in turn will make some AIs very advanced. You decide which ones.

Make friends! Figure out who is going down and join dogpile on him for diplo bonus, you don't need to send single unit into war. Monty is master of your fate. Please him.

I have 50BC save which will be unleashed tonight, I believe.

So what do you guys think about this idea?
Spoiler :
civ4screenshot0224.jpg

Edit: Or actually 1E of there because he still settles the same damn spot for his second city.

LOL!!! Dunno what to think. Maybe a bit too much map knowledge :D. It is nice workaround but holy city with shrine can still easly crush your capital. You also get close borders spark tensions bonus to that :D, I guess.

I'd still like people to play normally, even if they have map knowledge. The point of shadowing is comparing. Settling on T4 on a bit worse spot is a bit farfetched. But although you maybe get ivory if Monty doesn't steal it before you'll be able to use it, you have so much higher chance of a DoW from everyone, not just Monty. I believe distance between capitals is taken into account when plotting, and I know sharing tiles adds to that a lot. But I'd better leave that for Tachy to confirm.

Glad to have you aboard!
