As of July 31st 2012 THIS GAME IS DEAD.

"Well Gentlemen, we begin tommorrow. For too long now has the empire ruled over this land, and tommorrow we will finally end it. We are not the first to take this step, and you all know that the Imperials are fighting across the world against people such as us. Fighting, and losing. It is past time that we join the fight, lest we find our liberators as bad as our oppressors. I will not say the coming days will be easy, or that they will be bloodless, or any other such self-deception. Victory will take our all. And so that is what we will give it. I know I can count on every man and women to do what we must. I hope to see you here again in a few days, but for now lets get moving."

-Nikolai Cavlandros; the night before the Gibralter Uprisings

Welcome all, to my latest AC. Here you get to be freedom fighters against the tyranical empire which has ruled the world effectively unopposed for the last few hundred years. But don't worry, you arent the only ones! There's a whole bunch of different rebellions going on since the emperor was assassinated died tragically a few years back, so you wont suffer the fate of poor Bermuda Island in a hurry. (Protip: fighting the entire world alone is a bad move)

Now that I think about it, I should probably mention that this is set in a Soft-Sci-Fi Alternate Future, and that you sart in Gibralter. And yes, the place names are the same. Why? Why Not! :p

Basic Rules:

[Generic anti-troll rules with loopholes in them]
As GM, I reserve the right to do anything in the game, up to and including kick players out for breathing at the wrong time. So to be safe, try not breathing at all.

This is an Action Chatroom Game. Most of you whole will join probably know what that is, but for those who don't I will explain now. You will create a character, using the Character creation stuff below. You will then come on the Chatroom at certain times and play as that character in missions, in which you are, usually, given an objective and let loose to acomplish it. Other times I will fail to tell you what your goal, situation, ect are, and just chuck you in at the deep end and hope you either swim, or at least drown in an amusing way. :mwaha:

Character Creation:

Pretty much the standerd spiel; name and gender are the only real neccessities, but backstory, description and all that are apprieciated. You dont have to worry about traits/perks/abilities or anything, just spend your starting money on any of the good good good stuff in the upcoming lists! Dont worry about a language barrier this time either, that got standerdised centuries ago.

You start with 300$ 100$.

Equipment:

Headgear: You put it on your head. Needless to say you can only have one. But feel free to have none if you subscribe to certain philosophies.

Spoiler Headgear :
Nothing 0$ - Nothing! Or maybe sunglasses... :p
Communications Headset 10$ - Instant communications with near unlimited range!
NVG 50$ - Seeing in the dark is a usefull ability, but these goggles are more conspicuous.
-Communication Set 10$ - Instant communications with near unlimited range!
Thermal Goggles 75$ - Usefull they may be, but you wont find many of these in civilian areas.
-Communication Set 10$ - Instant communications with near unlimited range!
Basic Helmet 75$ - An armored bowl over the top of your head. Nice for stopping stray rounds, not so nice for blending in.
-Communication Set 10$ - Instant communications with near unlimited range!
-NVG 50$ - Attatching goggles to a helmet is so much easier than having 2 peices of headgear.
Military Grade Helmet 300$ - Complete covering for your head with built in communications, and a visor capable of both Night and Thermal Vision modes. Also contains gas mask.
-Visual Camo 10$ - Full armour is intimidating, this is just more so. Or paint on happy flowers to spread peace and love!
HUD Augmented Helmet 600$ - The best headgear money can buy, with built in communications, a visor capable of both Night and Thermal Vision modes, and a computer system capable of displaying handy information. Also contains gas mask.
-Visual Camo 10$ - Full armour is intimidating, this is just more so. Or paint on happy flowers to spread peace and love!

Armour: You wear one set of this. It protects you. Probably. Hopefully. Possibly.

Spoiler Armour :
Normal Clothing 0$ - Normal clothing is normal. And customisable! Dress, Suit, Trenchcoat, whatever!
Resistant Utilities 20$ - Simple coverings to prevent industrial workers getting annihilated by stray hazards. Some resistance to heat and acid, but not gonna stop a bullet.
Torso Armour 300$ - Real armour. Capable of stopping a fair amount of weaponry as long as it's aimed at the torso. No garuntees for arms and legs.
-Concealed Torso Armour 50$ - Hide it under normal clothes and avoid people staring at you in the street!
Stealth Suit 350$ - A suit designed to hide the wearer from sensors. However, it doesn't have any armour.
Full Body Armour 600$ - Serious resistance to small arms fire, this armour isnt exactly comfortable, but it is a very safe place to be.
-Visual Camo 10$ - Full armour is intimidating, this is just more so. Or paint on happy flowers to spread peace and love!
-Gauntlet Knife 50$ - A retractable knife on your gauntlet is easier to hold onto than one in your hands, since it's impossible to let go of it! Can't do fancy knife juggling though...
-Stealth Coating $300 - Hiding and wearing full armour don't go together very well, but you can be invisible to sensors.
Armoured Physical Augmentation Suit 1000$ - It's like full body armour in that it won't let in enemy fire, but this suit also gives assistance to your strength.

Primary Weapons: Now we get to the really fun stuff! Most of the time you can have 2 of these, except for a couple of the big 'uns.

Spoiler Guns! :
Nothing 0$ - Because you're too cool for guns. Or too broke...
Old Slugthrower AR 50$ - Bullets are old fashioned, but still capable of killing people without armour. Also comparitively cheap.
-Suppressor 10$ - Because Loud gunshots tend to attract attention.
-Bayonet 15$ - If you're stabbing people, something went wrong. But stabbing is easier when you don't have to muck around with a bunch of different weapons.
Concussion Rifle 150$ - Fires a single concussion blast.
Pulse Energy Rifle 250$ - Energy Weapon is good. Rapid Fire Capacity is good. Therefore a rapid fire energy weapon is Good x2.
-Bayonet 15$ - If you're stabbing people, something went wrong. But stabbing is easier when you don't have to muck around with a bunch of different weapons.
Plasma Spike Rifle 350$ - A spike of superhot plasma can do some serious damage to a person. Like killing them. It's pretty serious.
-Napalm Spike 75$ - Less heat, but it lasts longer and sticks to targets.
Beam Sniper Rifle 400$ - Not much good at close quarters, but a beast at long range.
Guided Missile Launcher 500$ - Because dumbfire missiles are just old fashioned. Takes up 2 weapons slots.
-Dumbfire Missiles 50$ - Because the old ones are the best! And won't be affected by fancy electronics jamming.
Rotary Blast Cannon 750$ - This latest attempt at Moar Dakka is still not enough. Takes up 2 weapons slots.

Secondary Weapons: A sidearm is always handy. Particularly if you're too cheap to get anything bigger. You only get one though, no guns akimbo for you!

Spoiler Moar Gun :
Nothing 0$ - Exactly What it says on the Tin
Slugthrower Pistol 20$ - They might be old, but bullets can still kill.
-Suppressor 10$ - Because Loud gunshots tend to attract attention.
Tranquilizer Dart Gun 60$ - Sometimes killing people is a bad idea, but they need to be out of the way for a while. Knock them out with a tranquilizer dart.
-Lethal Darts 50$ - And sometimes killing isn't such a bad idea after all.
Spike Pistol 125$ - A nice razor sharp spike can be very dangerous. If it hits you.
Blaster Pistol 200$ - Small energy weapons are nice. They tend to be a little less powerful than big ones though.
EMP Emittor 500$ - In a world of technoloy, a properly placed EMP pulse can do far more damage than a gunshot.

Grenades: EXPLOSIONS! :mischief: You can only have 1 type of grenade at a time, and whilst buying them gets you an unlimited stock, you can only have 4 on any one mission.

Spoiler Stuff that goes BOOM :
Nothing 0$ - Because giving players grenades is just asking for trouble.
Molotov Cocktail 15$ - Flammable Liquid in a bottle. Cheap and Cheerful.
Smoke 30$ - Can still hide you from unenhanced eyes. Or act as a distraction...
Flashbang 45$ - A Bright Flash and a Loud Bang.
Fragmentation 50$ - Old but deadly, even if they won't penetrate armour.
Concussion 100$ - Have some effect on armour, and a lot more on the unarmoured.
Incendary 200$ - The Thermal Detonator! KillItWithFire in pocket form.
EMP 300$ - Disabling delicate electronics is a very usefull ability in the modern world.

Miscellanious: For when you need to do something other than kill people. You can have an unlimited number of these items in your pack.

Spoiler Random Stuff :
Rope 10$ - It is a rope. If you don't have it, you will definately want it.
Grappling Hook Pistol 50$ - Its like a grappling hook, in a pistol.
Duct Tape 10$ - We Will use Duct Tape in the future. It's just to darn handy not too.
High Explosives 100$ -Think C4, in the future!
Torch 5$ - Let it be a light in the dark places of the world!
Performance Enhancing Drugs 150$ - To go above and beyond normal bodily endurance levels. The Initial injection gives 2 rounds enhancement and 1 round of 'crash' when they wear off. Each subsequent injection will add another round of enhancement and increase both length and severity of the 'crash'. PED Junkies may suffer XP penalties as their bodies suffer long term side effects.
First Aid Kit 50$ - For treating minor Injuries.
Battlefield Medicine Pack 100$ - For treating major injuries. Can be used on minor ones as well though.
Personal Computer 75$ - It's a computer. It can search the web and hold your stash of *ahem* entertainment material.
Old Fashioned Cigarette Lighter 5$ - Because sometimes you just need fire.
Jamming Device 200$ - A Poor Man's substitute for stealth equipment is to jam their transmissions and sensors. It doesn't hide that something is up, but it does hide what something is.
Bible 5$ - A religious text common certain regions of the empire.

Other (?) - If you want something else, VM me, or post in the thread, and I'll tell you how much it costs

You get a knife too. So feel free to go without any guns at all, you'll still have a 'weapon'... ;)

(Originally I was gonna link to tropes all through those lists, but I gave up on that plan after finding 35 different links I could use. Shame I didn't give up a few hours earlier though. :p)

And now for Levels! Thats right, this game has a level system! But rather than traditional things such as extra HP, leveling up in this game TURNS YOU INTO A ROBOT!!! :D Okay, not really, but adding tech to your body is pretty much the advantage of half these levels. I know nobody is ever gonna reach level 10 before the game dies tragically, but if by some miracle we make it that far more levels will be added.

Spoiler Fun Stuff :
Level 1: Nothing! - You lack both experiance and funding. You have NOTHING! (0 XP)
Level 2: Survival Instincts - Living this long takes good instincts. Whether they are natural or developed, you've got em. (1000XP)
Level 3: Combat Experiance - Having been in combat operations is the difference between a veteran and a rookie. (3000 XP)
Level 4: Drug Release Implant - Stimulants, Painkillers, Antidotes, even a substance for breaking down Alcohol! Or for Darker situations, a nice toxin for before the torture starts... (6000 XP)
Level 5: Brain Implant - It's expensive to get a computer implanted in your brain, but holding back good equipment from good people doesn't win wars. Besides, you aren't paying for it! (10,000 XP)
Level 6: Instant Internal Implant Communications - Unjammable communications without any need for a headset! Only limited to 30 miles! (15,000 XP)
Level 7: Electronics Hardening - To deal with all those pesky EMPs people toss around. (21,000 XP)
Level 8: Computer-Implant Interface - Now you can plug yourself into a computer! (28,000 XP)
Level 9: Genetic Modification - We can't do so much now you're already born, but increasing muscle growth isn't that hard... (35,000 XP)
Level 10: MKI Bio-Mechanical Augmentation - Running is always easier when you are part machine. So is fighting. (43,000XP)

Note: Characters can choose not to accept the effects of any levels other than 1, 2, 3, and 7 if they want to stay 'normal'.

The Chatroom is Here.

Rule Addendum: Equipment can be sold for half it's base price, but this doesnt include the price of add-ons.

Warning: Team-Killing will lead to XP penalties. Repeated team-killing will lead to XP and monetary Penalties.
Addendum: Killing Allied NPCs counts as team-killing for this purpose.

[Anything I missed will be added here when I remember it.]

NPCs:

Nikolai Cavlandros, Rebel Leader

The Leader of the Gibralter Rebellion, Cavlandros is a tall man with black hair and brown eyes. He is the primary force involved in the planning of the rebellion, and serves as its charismatic public 'face'.

Captain B, Imperial Officer

'Captain B' was encountered during the assault on the Gibralter Garrison, and appears to be responsible for the survival of the rebels wounded there.

Nathaniel O.T. Crumpet, Rebel Sniper

Nathaniel is a rebel soldier of average height, with auburn hair and brown eyes. He was encountered in Malaga, fighting to defend the captured garrison and passing on the intelligence gathered from the databanks there. Nathaniel also took part in the destuction of the Malaga Monorail, during which he became quite attracted to Victoria Haulsee. He was also involved in the rescue of Polski and Blackspire.

L. Jenkins, Rebel Soldier

Jenkins is an over-enthusiastic rebel with green eyes and blonde hair. He was encountered in the fight at the Malaga Garrison, where his poor molotov-throwing skills almost burned the team alive. Twice.

Polski McPolish, Polish Spy

A polish rebel with blue eyes and brown hair, Polski has been acting as a spy for the FPA. His aquisition of Imperial Guard documents indicate he is likely very skilled.

Blackspire, Unknown

A Female with Green Eyes and red hair. She speaks little.

Money: $0
Bio: Harry Young, much like most people born in Utah, was raised a Mormon. Since the evil empire started controlling the world, the Mormon church started to unofficially oppose the Empire, finding it to be an abomination to god. They also disliked all the cybernetic implants going around, as they claimed it was selling your soul.

Harry joined the Red Cross after he finished medical school. He was hoping that he could save those in need. However, he left the organization due to the ongoing debate about cybernetics. As he was in Africa at the time, he slowly went upwards to Europe, where he planned to take a plane back to Utah. Harry eventually made it to Gibraltar, and it just so happened to be on a very important day...

I might be there if you hold to 2 hours, or in other words 5PM EST.

Following the Mission, LH, Omega, Red, and Sniped all receive 250$ and 1000XP! I will write a write up sometime later. Write up is as follows:

Gibralter Uprisings: Day 1

The rebel group attacked the imperial cargo ship Red Star. The guards outside were killed in a firefight, and rebel forces entered the ship and split up. Harry Young cleared the Crew Quarters of minor resistance, whilst Moe Queshire launched an attack on the bridge. Having interrogated one of the guards, Fa Ping and Jonathan Hayes searched the cargo hold, uncovering classified crates bound for Imperial Guard Units somewhere in Italy.* Attempts to open these failed, and were later discovered to have activated an automated security system flooding the room with knockout gas, and causing the surviving guards to lockdown the engines. However, both rebels left before the gas affected them.

Whilst Fa Ping investigated the engines, the remaining rebels joined the attack on the bridge. Eventually all resistance was overcome, and the ship, along with its vital cargo, fell into rebel hands. Later, more successfull attempts would reveal that the special crates held only a number of unusual components, the purpose of which rebel investigators were unable to determine. Two prisoners were taken during this operation, the first was shot on the scene, and the second escaped during the bridge attack.

*This fact is of particular note, as Italy is far from the uprisings in both Poland and Ireland. Rebel leadership is unable to fathom why Guard units would be deployed to this area. The matter may be investigated further if it is deemed neccesary.
