Question about random events

It seems like there are fewer random events. I first notived it maybe in version 22. I know there's a way to adjust in a file but not sure where. The only one I seem to get much of is "Civ so and so has held a lavish wedding in the (any religion not your own) and your people are angered" or the flip side "a prominent heiress from (some civ) and one of your people want to get married in (your religion)" and you can ignore it, lavish gifts, etc.
Are they triggered by a civic I've chosen?

Random events are generated per era your in s maybe that's why your getting so many of the same ones. Other then that you'd have to talk to somebody else
