The Tomb (Started)

Welcome to the tomb, a mafia game set deep under the sands of Egypt, in an ancient tomb, on an exhibition to discover it’s secrets. Many have gone before, but rarely does anyone return.

Rules:

  • 2 Phases, day lasts 48 hours, night lasts 24, game starts as day. 1 day and night phase counts as 1 round.
  • Votes are cast during day only, please use vote:player to vote, I will take your last vote for the tally, no need to unvote.
  • No lynch is allowed.
  • Voting for yourself counts double.
  • Once dead, you may not post, PM, or post in any QTs except the dead one.
  • Mafia send in their kills during the night phase (they are allowed to not make a kill).
  • Orders (and abilities) can be sent in early (via PM only), and can be changed later. I take the last order from you as the one you wish to do.
  • You may set up as many QTs as you like, as long as you send me the link.
  • No editing posts.
  • Always read the spoilers.
  • Any names in writeups gives no clues as to their role/alignment.
  • How to use your ability will be specified in your PM. Every single person has an ability (I will refer to it as a secondary, and your alignment as primary).
  • All abilities happen either at the end of the day, or at the end of the night (Order of use is predetermined).
  • There is no ‘hidden’ abilities, or hidden side effects. All abilities work as explained in your PM.
  • You may never quote a PM, paraphrase.
  • If you have any questions, ask via VM or PM.
  • You are at risk of being replaced/WoGed if you miss 2 rounds in a row, or a total of 3 in the whole game (voting will count as not missing a round, orders and PMs will not).
  • Mafia win when it is impossible for them to lose, townies win when all mafia are dead.
  • Reveal upon death.
  • Read the rules again.
  • Have fun.

I'll try out another game, but I always do really badly in them. :)

Hopefully I can survive longer in the land of the pharaohs.

And of I read the rules correctly, there's no bussing? So anyone who ousts a mafioso in game is confirmed town?

I assume, or hope, that is just means you can't just throw up your hands and link to the Mafia QT or say "I'm Mafia and so are x and x".
It's kind of a superfluous rule though; anyone who does that is pretty much shunned.

I guess I'll be in.

Pretty much. A mafia can't claim a guilty scan result on another mafia, but they can cast suspicion on them (like saying a post is scummy, and FoSing them), and nothing conclusive. Bussing is allowed, but saying that someone is mafia purely to be cleared isn't.

To directly answer the question, anyone who ousts a mafia cannot be a mafia. But bussing and voting for them is fine.

the no bussing thing is a weird rule because I haven't really seen any problems with that ever by any nontroll member of any forum. still doesn't really matter. insies

I highly doubt any mafia will come close to ousting another. I've seen a few cases, although I guess it would fall under not playing to win or something like that anyway.

Doh! I misread that the first time, sorry.

TF2, classical_hero bussed Bsmith.

Thats the sort of thing I would call an oust, rather than a bus, as its saying that BSmith is scum, rather than saying he is highly suspicious. Saying that you 'know' they are scum is an oust, saying they are scummy or a likely scum, is a bus. At least IMO, and thats what I will be going off.

In, thanks. Might want to link to this in the hosting queue and information threads.

I'm not in, by the way, though it looks to be an interesting game.

My question is; why? What is the purpose of the rule. A mafioso can claim a detective scan, on someone, but if they're innocent, he will get lynched the next phase most likely, or killed possibly, but if he "scans" a mafioso and puts result in thread to look good, that's the choice they made. And if he doesn't die in the next few phases, its going to look mighty suspect. Mafia kill people who look pro town and catch mafia. That's why I died in the recent NOTW. I caught 2 mafia, and no-one was ever going to vote me. If had stayed alive it may have looked a bit fishy.

But anyway, your game, your rules, I just don't understand the need for the rule. (Just questioning, not personal attacks or anything like that. :))

Not to stoke the fire or anything, but I bus my mafia partners fairly often. Not "all the time", but whenever my partner and I agree to such a strategy, we use it. It's a fairly difficult WIFOM for a town to handle -- the pendulum either swings on one extreme or the other (they either are paranoid and believe even a town cop to be "busing his teammate"; or, instead, they believe a mafia player would never bus his teammate).

True, and its a good point. Mafia choose to take the risk, or not. Generally makes it harder for the town, although not a favourite tactic of mine.

Its mainly flavour for including the rule. It doesn't 'fit' to have a mafia kill another mafia to get townie cred in this game, a lot less than it would in other games. Nothing against the tactic itself, I just decided it would be better to not allow it this time.

And thanks for linking in the hosting queue, and for the positive comments.
