Invalid 3D divice type

I change the graphics settings to single unit and show health bars exited Civ as directed then when I tried to get back into Civ I got the error in the title and can't play civ. I a sure I did not change anything else.

How do I fix the problem? Reinstall?

Yes, reinstall.
Use a registry cleaner after you uninstalled it to wipe out everything Civ4 related from the registry, then install agian.

Thanks. It turned out that the new graphics card did not play nicely with 32bit XP and the 3GB switch.

So this was caused by a driver problem?

Because I do not really have an idea what causes the problem, and would be nice to know for the tech support forums.

Not a driver problem that I could see. I had all the latest and everything was fine until I turned on the 3GB switch which helps run C2C. I ended up moving to Win 7.

What was the model number of your GFX card DH?
