The Nobles' Club series started out as a way for Noble-level (and below) players to improve their game. Most of the original participants now play at much higher levels, so this has become a way for advanced players to help others learn to play better. You can play your own game at any level and with any mod, but it would be nice to comment on the games of other players and give them advice.

Our next leader is Lincoln of America, whom we last played in NC XLI; we last played the Americans under Roosevelt in NC LXXXII. They start with Agriculture and Fishing.

Spoiler map details :
Continents with standard parameters.
Spoiler edits :
Shifted land mass, because one AI got way to much land.
Finally, a cut and paste of our standard doctrine:The WB-saves are attached (zipped; they are bigger than standard saves). To play, simply download and unzip it into your Beyond the Sword/Saves/WorldBuilder or your "Game Dir"/Beyond the Sword/Public Maps folder. Start the game, and load your favorite Mod (if you use one, if not, check out the BUG Mod), select "Play Scenario", and look for "NC.CIII.Lincoln Noble" (or Monarch, etc., for higher levels). You can play with your favorite Mod at the Level and Speed of your choice. From Quick-Warlord to Marathon-Deity, all are welcome! We stuck with the name "Nobles Club" because it has a cool ring to it.
Spoiler what's up with specific difficulties :
In each scenario file you can select your level of difficulty, but that doesn't give the AI the right bonus techs by itself. Use the Noble save for all levels at and below Noble. The Monarch save gives all the AI Archery. Emperor adds Hunting; Immortal adds Agriculture; Deity adds The Wheel.

For players on Monarch or above, you should add archery as a tech for the barbarians (if you don't, the AI will capture their cities very early). This cannot be done in the WB save file and must be done in Worldbuilder as follows:
Spoiler how to add techs to the barbarians :
  1. Zoom in all the way so you can't see the rest of the map.
  2. Use the CTRL-W key (or the menu) to enter the worldbuilder. Avoid looking at the mini-map in the lower right corner.
  3. By default you're in "player" mode (look in the box in the upper right; the icon that looks like a person should be selected). You'll get a drop down menu labeled with your leader's name. Barbarians are at the bottom, so cover the rest of the list with your hand if you don't want to see who else is on the map. Select "Barbarians".
  4. Select the "Technologies" tab in the box on the left.
  5. Find Archery (the arrow head icon; 8th row, 3rd column from the right) and click it.
  6. Exit the worldbuilder.
  7. Zoom out again after the map fades, and start playing.
Spoiler huts and events :
Note: The standard saves have no huts and have events turned off. If you want tribal villages and random events, choose the saves with "Huts" in their names. If you want huts but no events, select the Huts saves and use Custom Scenario to turn on the option that suppresses events.

Corrected Files uploaded! In the old version all Difficulty Levels start with the Immortal Unit set (Handicaps were correct, only the units)

Spoiler :
Emperor, peaceful REX to seven cities by 100 BC, one very provocative in Asokas face. Ragnar got very much land (before my land mass shifting he had even more space...) Washington SIPed and made a Great Person Farm, Palace shifted to New York (one Gold, four Floodplains, probably not that effective. Liberalism in 1010 AD, took Nationalism (didn't dare to delay it, because I haven't had contact to the other teams) and Bee-Line to Military Tradition and Rifling (no Iron for Cuirs), conquered the Island, developed the conquered land and won Space Victory.
HA Rush against Asoka could be effective, but I forced myself to delay AH, because there were no AH Ressoucres nearby and as map creator I of course knew, that there would be horses ;)

Was no fresh water planned? Looks badly edited, sorry.

Wow, I am just happy to have another forum game up. I guess some people are harder to please than others... ;)

I will probably SIP or 1S, and hardly never play as Lincoln so this will be interesting.

Wasn't there from the beginning and didn't insert it especially. I see no reason why the starting position has to be with fresh water, but you're free to move two northeast, a fresh water plain hill start ;)

1s wastes the fish, which is unfortunate. The clams alone are a bit weak too, so SIP seems like the best bet here, especially since the warrior can't reveal much inland.

Well i learned already that negative things about a NC map are not taken well, but i thought i'd try...if you heavily edit which some peoples already dun like, please make sure it's not jumping right at us like a river leading into mountains, partly cutting them. Every time i'd see Washy, i'd probably notice that ;)

Prince 325 AD:
Spoiler :
I did settle 1S, I thought settling on the hill was worth it to get the work boats out quicker in the beginning. I peacefully settled 6 cities. Ragnar is plotting, which I'm certain its Asoka because they are worst enemies and I begged 20 gold off Raggy. I settled the city with wet corn, gold, and stone to the west and built the mids. Running Rep and the whole continent is buddist. I'm in a great position for Lib, just waiting to see what Raggy does and maybe a Cur rush is in order for Asoka... Thinking about going for space since I haven't done that in a long time and the economy is going great this game.

I'm sorry If it seemed like I'd repel you harshly, didn't mean to, I just don't see the problem with a non-fresh-water start. But outpointed mistakes concerning map edits are welcome as I'm fairly new to this, perhaps I should have rerolled instead of the land shifting. For example, thank you for pointing out the river ending into two hills, looks definetely odd, I didn't draw the river, just made the plain 1S of the settler into a hill for a nicer Workboat start as we start with fishing and three seafood ressources.

Immortal 500 AD, running into an interesting dilemma:

Spoiler :
Settled 2nd city west near stone, corn, and gems. Finished the mids in 1200 BC in the capital and GE rushed the GL there later. Moved my capital to another city SW on the floodplains and cottaged that out. I settled 7 cities on the main land and haven't messed with the islands.

I'm in a perfect position to win Lib. Tech rate is great. I'm halfway to Education, and have an artist sitting around to trigger a GA whenever i would like. It's a perfect situation to Cuir rush except one big problem... no iron! As a matter of fact, my only metal is coming from Asoka via Horse for Bronze trade.

His iron is really close, and i would only need to take 1 or 2 cities off of him to get it, but with what? A treb + mace army doesn't sound very appealing given my position. Looks like i may have to go all the way to rifles and then head to Steel while i take his iron.

@: Izuul

Spoiler :
Yeah I realized no Iron for cuir too when I libed MT. I just decided to tech to cavs and about to stomp on Asoka. About 1300 AD and Asoka will go down quick, then Ragnar. I decided to wipe the whole continent out, but then the only decision to go space, or maybe nuke the crap outta the other main continent. :nuke:

Spoiler :
I found people complaining about the absence of iron here weird for a second because I have iron near my flood plains city on a coastal hill, but I think it's due to a random event or something... heh. I'm in the early ADs and tired, will probably start fresh tomorrow.
