Sorry for the self-congratulatory thread but I am too excited not to rave.

My son's adoption paperwork just finalized and came in, I am legally a father! :eek::eek::eek:

If you have any questions on adoption in general I am far from an expert, but I'd be happy to give a stab at some answers.
 
Grats! How about some details and perhaps a photo?

My Mrs. Farm Boy and I and about 6 days notice before our son's birth mother delivered in January, so everything from that time is kinda hazy. The morning she delivered we got a call very early in the morning and we managed to make the five hour drive(was it 7? I was driving awful tired and pretty fast) to be in the room before he pitched screaming into the world.

Since then we've been having one helluva ride getting used to parenthood(dear God what is sleep?), finishing out the state of Illinois's home study requirements, meshing interstate adoption laws, and waiting the mandatory six months for everything to finalize while he was technically under the care of a guardian ad litem(while living with us). Everything just came through, we were able to change his name legally, and for all intents and purposes as far as the legal systems goes, he is now the same as a biologically born child.

ok- apparently I don't know how to attach a photo. I'm out for about 5 hours, but I'll give another spin at the attachment later tonight after he's passed out.

My wife has this thing about him not being around machinery. I keep telling her we have 10 fingers and toes so there are some extras in there....she didn't find it funny.
 
Weird, I always thought you were seventeen for some reason. Congratulations!

Also, tell her that "Lil' <Johnny> Nubbins" is a cool nickname for her kid. That should surely sway her on the whole machinery thing! (replace johnny with whatever is name is)

Ok, I think this should work. Don't mind my hair, I know it's filthy, but I'm relatively certain he hadn't slept the night before.
