Greetings, Immortals and would-be Immortals (and indeed any other players of any level), and welcome to the Immortal University.

Here is our Leader:

Here's the opening scene:

The following settings were used to create this map

And the Demographics for people to spot any info they can

Before we start, here's the copy & paste bit where I get to pretend that I'm TMIT:

To play, just extract the WB save file into your worldbuilder saves directory, then play it. Use custom scenario if you want some extra settings to tickle your fancy. This series was designed for people learning immortal, so most people here will be at that level or trying to attain it, although deity players are welcome also. Hell, if you want to play this on NOBLE. The intention of this and any other game thread I post is to get better. Play whatever level you need in order to improve.

If you are aspiring IMM+, try to remember to add archery back to the barbs in WB. Every time you don't, a deity AI will kill a kitten, although there are a lot of kittens so it's not the end of the world if you prefer easymode barbs .

I do request people to list their difficulty and speed. In terms of updates, well nobody follows that anyway. Post in the manner you feel comfortable. Typical comparison dates are 1 AD, liberalism, and victory/defeat, as well as any major events. If in doubt, go with that.

We also have an initial Immortal/Normal autosave which is much more convenient since you can avoid all the worldbuilder shenanigans. It comes with my personal seal of approval (not least as my worldbuilder edits may contain hideous game-destroying errors that could cause your computer to explode ).

*edit*

Post #3 has the Worldbuilder Saves

Was about making a WB file for my own, when I thought: I'm already in the file so...
Zip has noble to deity (without prince), units and handicap will be set according to the player's difficulty chosing, starting technologies are set, you have to add barbarian techs, so same old, same old.

Thinking about settling the wine one southeast, it'd need a second city to improve the fish though. Don't think there's much to loose in the west, because

Spoiler :
for what I see it's only forests, no hill and the river even ends.

Thanks for the map.

This map screams for mids. With libraries and obelisks one can run 4 representation specialists relatively early. I played rather fast and sloppy but with those nice cities i`m in a good position. I also was lucky as gems appeared in my capital. Great lib was build with the aid of a great engineer.

Played till 660 AD from the Original file which was standard Immortal w/ no huts or events.
Spoiler :
So I settled on the wine and my tech path went Min > Bw > Pottery > Myst > Med > Prst > Wrt > Masonry > Aesthetics > Lit > Currency > Mc > Music > Cs > Drama > Mach > Engineer > Guilds > Philo > NH.

Traded for pretty much everything else. Finished the Oracle around 1500 BC, the Mids around 900 BC, TGL finished in the BCs and the NE slightly after. Switched to Hinduism (safest) while whipping forges and theaters and I finished The Globe Theatre around 450 AD. Besides, switching to PS would leave me a little happy deficient when switching out of REP so a 10% drama slider was necessary. Also finished Nortre Dame and I am currently halfway finished with The Taj.

Most of the game consisted of whip/caste cycles and trying to keep good diplo. Right around 450-500 AD I switched to PS > Bureau > Slavery > Theocracy (ah yea, finished the Swe Paya right around 1AD ish?

The plan is to take all of Pascals cities, followed by Monte's while still teching fast enough to Lib something good before taking over the world. Just in case anyones curious, all of my GP have been GS luckily enough, which have all been settled in my Capital.

PP is done (i had one GS ready for bulbing it), Oxford is done, Globe is almost done, GS/GP combo for second golden age is ready and there are about 800 gold in the failure pipeline, which should let me fly to rifling in no time. I think i once bribed Monty into a war and gifted some techs here and there to keep people happy. DoW after wheoohrn against me could have been avoided (if nessecary) with reli switch and bribes due to my techlead. Even a DoW would not have been a catastrophic event because i picked up feudalism early and build some units...

Fairly easy game

900AD

Spoiler :

I've been kinda putzing around the game. Didn't consider early war. ( I wonder if Hab setup those ant-WC neighbors for us ;))

Anyone, it was pretty clear that we would be able to settle a decent number of cities. With GLH, I settled a couple offshore as well.

Ignored Oracle, but made a push for Mids with stone. Built several other wonders here and there and lost out a few, but the fail gold was very nice.

Settled on the wine first, then the coastal city to the west. City up north for NE. Haven't really pushed GPs though, although I've popped a few and settled in Thebes. Captured a couple of barb cities in the east. Resources are nice around our empire although Marble is missed.

In an unorthodox move, I used the GA from Music to bulb Divine Right since no one was close to it. I never tech it but since I'm running the AP religion, Sistine would not be a bad thing to have.

Monty has not been a problem nor has anyone else. I gave into some early demands by Monty for fairly worthless techs and he's been focused on attacking other AIs most of the game. In fact, most of the AIs have been in war for a good part of the game except me.

That should change fairly soon. Teching has been a breeze and I'm considering bypassing Curs altogether an shooting straight for Cavalry. I've been sitting on Lib (1t) for some time and may use it on RP or Rifling. We'll see.

im in for my third try at a deity game, havent beaten the AI on this level yet... this map might be it tho. im hyped to do to do it

edit: oh wait, no worldbuilder saves, so i guess i'll stick to immortal for now ;)

@pepe26

Marvinlegend posted the WB saves, third post down. I used the Monarch save and I'm up to 1000AD with no troubles. Fun map so far, a write up coming soon, damn RL getting in the way. :cooool:

Hi, i played this map today. THis is the first time i participate in this kind of threads here, I'm also not a native english speaker so please excuse eventually wired language.

Spoiler :
So here we go:

I settled the northern wine for my capitol for the extra commerce, riverside and a lot of cottages.
After i saw the jungle in the south i decided to chop the GLH in my second city and settle mostly on coast. Nevertheless i went for a standart buero capitol.

I decided not to build the oracle, although i teched mysticism early for the Boarder pops, but there was no commerce Ressource and i prefered a great merchant from the GLH or a Scientist which i got very late in the end and only 2 pre lib(1 Academy and 1 for Education), but i also got a Great Merchants in the first place which helped me with teching faster and upgrading Horse Archers to Cuirassiers( i saved him for quite some time which maybe arguable)

I also went for the mids, but i missed it very close. That failgold really gave me a kickstart though.

After settling some citys i chopped the Great Libary in Elephantine and builded National Epic.

I won Music Race and spawned 2 Great Scientists in the golden Age, that i started with the Artist.

So far i libbed MT in 1000 AD and attacked Monty in 1100 AD. I captured all but one City from him since he wouldnt capitulate to my Cuirrasier attacks.

This is the land i peacefully settled:

Monty trolling from his last Outpost like Saruman after his defeat:

This is the butthole of the Continent i guess:

Tech Trade View:

JL0KC.jpg

After Cuirassiers i went for Economics and got it first, so i was able to upgrade some Cuirassiers to Cavalary when i got to rifling.
Now i think i go for Pacal which will be a matter of a few turns and then obsolete the Great libabry with Scientific Method and tech Communism.
Shaka might become a real threath though i guess.

I also should mention that i gave in to some demands from Monty earlier in the game and took his Religion, after he made peace with Pacal i also bribed him on Wang Kong for some cheap techs so his stacks were spread out and i didn't suffered to much losses when i attack him myself.

@Strickl3r

Welcome to CFC and the S&T Forum. Looks like you have a good game going. Just a tip on posting images. The preferred method around here for images is not to post links but rather to insert the images directly in your post.

I'm not familiar with the image host site you use, but usually they provide a set of links that are message board compatible such that you just copy and past the link (with tags) directly in your post, usually in spoiler tags. Here is an example though in which I used the "Insert Image" button above and copied the image location from your image host site:

I use Imgur.com which also allows one to easily adjust the resolution of the image at upload in order to make it not quite so big (1280X1024 is a good size). Your site may have all these features though, not sure.

this was real easy on immortal... how did you guys go about it?

I teched to...
Spoiler :
lib and went for curis, then vassaled monty who had declared about 30 turns ago on me while at war with pacal. he probably got bribed in on me.
he made a surpringly useful tech trading partner after i had warvasseled him (all the other guys wouldnt trade with me anymore)

pericles gets pretty close to spaceship launch but i will win via domination first

1400 AD Conquest
Spoiler :

Once i saw I had Monty and Pacal as my i neighbors, I adopted monty's religion (buddhism) and kept him warring with pacal by bribing him twice on him. Everone else were in judaism/hinduism, but I got the trades that I needed.

Teched to cuirassiers and attacked montezuma in the 900's. Proceeded to chain capitulate everyone. Quite an easy game with a lot of good land to expand to available.

Monarch No huts or events, 1850 Conquest

Spoiler :
My second Monarch game was a win! This was a little harder for me than the Asoka forum game. I choose about the same tactic. Lib'ed biology, teched communism, then Cur smack down on Monty (him being the only buddist, and all others hindu) I had everyone else waring against each other so I peacefully teched up to tanks and then proceeded to roll over everybody. One funny thing that happened: It was about 1000AD, Shaka has been plotting for at least 50 turns, and finally he DOW on me. I wasn't a land target b/c he was on the other side of the contitent, and he disliked wang and percicles more than me... But his crappy stack of 6 units fell quickly and I took peace within the next ten turns. I just haven't seen an AI make that crappy of a war attempt before.

1715 Domination

Spoiler :

No new screens as it was basically the draft/whip rifle+cannon steamroller that i expected. Got dowed by Monty when my first cannons were there and went Monty->Pacal->Wang->Shaka->Giggles->Perikles.

As been mentioned by others here a fairly easy map.

@600BC

Spoiler :
Only settled one city apart from my capital (which was on the northern of the 2 wine). Attacked the Mayans with axes and war chariots; they are down to 1 city now. I wish someone would hurry up and research alphabet so I can get some techs for peace.

Economy is in a hole, but at least I have CoL (which I oracled) so I should be able to trade my way back into contention. Perhaps pyramids would've been a better idea than a rush, but I do have 3 holy cities and stonehenge now. Used my free missionary to spread to the Aztecs so maybe Monty will play nice for a change....??!

Oh and I popped copper in my capital... 2 coppers = very nice production. Unfortunately I can't put it to great use - the only wonder I can build at the moment is Chicken Pizza... and I'm losing gold at 0%...

Advice needed at 50BC please!! Save is with BUFFY mod.

Spoiler :

Well firstly I had some luck since my last update. I managed to trade for alpha the turn before the Aztecs wiped the Mayans off the map. This meant I got 3 decent techs in exchange for a meaningless peace from Pacal :D An annoying bad thing about all the Mayan war was I got -1 with Monty for "declaring on a friend"... some 20-30 turns later, he declares war too. It's pretty ******** that I can have a -1 declare on friend and a +1 mutual struggle diplo modifiers at the same time for the same empire...

So now looks like Shaka is marching on me. Monty has OB with him and won't help me - won't betray his close friend....
IU84%2050BC.jpg

I make it 6 turns until he can attack Mutal. Thank goodness I spotted it. I guess I can whip/chop enough axes/spears to hold him off...? A shame as I was going to have a (very late) go for the GLH in the city a bit further north that you can see (if I fail then it will be much needed industrious fail gold). Also there are no barracks in these cities.

Caste is kinda keeping my economy afloat at the moment, but if slavery is needed then slavery it shall be. Can you see any other way out of this?

And yes, I know I need to chop more...

@DanielTorrence

Thanks. I think this was one of the earlier finish dates I've gotten yet, although it's not very impressive considering better players have beaten some maps in the 1200AD's on Deity. :p
