Initial Priorities : Check land around and determine on what type of map i am and fastest as possible. I have sent my warrior to the left and my scout to the right. In less than 20 turns i found 4 civs already and the land is huge enough to already think that i'm probably on a pangaea.

Tech path : Every lux techs around then construction. Then Machinery.

Who i have attacked or plan to : Byzantines(dead), Germany(dead) then Maya, Netherlands, Ottoman, Roman, France in this order.

Social Policies : Everything in Tradition excepted the defence bonus. Working on Honor for the free gg.

Turn 61 : 6 CBs and 2 warriors knocking Byzantines door. Quite a nice army for a king AI with Honor tree. Capital is working on Pyramids.

Spoiler :

Turn 66 : But the AI is still dumb at fight, moving units instead of attacking at some occasions. Constantinople is mine. Everyone is hating me.

Spoiler :

Turn 78 : DoWed Germany after healing and burned his 2nd city. Took Berlin some turns after.

Spoiler :

Science buildings are almost done . NC can be started soon. I took IW with the GL.

Spoiler :

Turn 101 : Friend/Ally some cs. Gades is settled further through the main land as it will be my upgrade platform. I'm massively building CBs for Machinery in 6 turns. 13 Crossbowmen will be ready for 2 front wars. 1 for Maya, Netherlands and Ottoman and the other(that will be ready a bit later) for last 2 civs. I will rush buy horsemen when needed.

Spoiler :

Your CB rush always impresses. I focused more on CS barb quests and getting a religion enhanced than building a conquest army. I got desert folklore, church property, pagodas, holy warriors, and holy texts. I just conquered Byzantine and am about to take Berlin. I am using holy warriors to buy chariot archers for 110 faith, am producing roughly 25 faith per turn. I am beginning to think that I didn't need pagodas (happiness is in the 20s) and should have grabbed liturgical drama or mosques for the extra faith.

I like your idea to build a military outpost out in the middle of the eastern landmass. Will probably use this tactic myself to upgrade all my elephants and chariots into knights before taking on the other 5 civs.

Up to turn 107. My first priority was to see how much room I had to settle (pangea or island?). I wanted to try my luck at the "Carthage ICS" game with lots of harbor trade routes. There seemed to be a lot of room, so I settled 1 SE of the start, thinking I could settle a 2nd city directly on the sugar to the NW.

I went scout -> 1/2 worker -> shrine -> 1/2 worker -> settler -> monument. My thought was to get an early religion with happiness beliefs and spread as far and fast as possible, using many cities to pressure and maintain free trade routes.

It worked pretty well, I think. I don't do ICS very much, but I've got 9 cities now. With Mt. Sinai I was able to get an early religion with Messenger of the Gods, Ceremonial Burial and Pagodas. I bought a missionary next, then enhanced after that. My religion is all over the place and I am about to start pagoda spamming.

The trouble is that I'm almost out of room and the other civs are starting to fortify. I just started a war with Byzantium. I think my religion push caused this war to happen too late. She's got walls and a strong city. I'm surely going to lose some units.

- What were your initial priorities?

My initial priorities were to secure some resources and sell them. I wanted to try a naval strategy eventually, but before that I needed cash, which meant I needed some friends to trade with. Lots of early scouting and friendships with just about everybody. I did a tradition four city opening, and used bowmen for defense. I settled my second city SW on the South coast, at the mouth of that flood plain river, next to more sugar, and with sugar and marble in the third ring. My third city was settled West on a hill next to a mountain, next to the river, next to more sugar, and two tiles from the natural wonder. My fourth city was SE, on the SE coast, next to more salt, and with two wheats in the second ring, and four fish in the third ring.

Little things were annoying this game. I built a worker first b/c the luxes were so sweet (salt then gold then sugar as I teched). However, the moment my worker appeared, two barbs showed up - one from each direction . So, I had to sit there while I built a warrior and shot them both down. Secondly, Great Library went on turn 45, while I was due to build by turn 51. That is ridiculous on King. I ended up getting Pyramids as my one wonder, since two CS asked for it. If I had missed that one, I would have been really mad.

- What tech path did you follow?

Lux techs, then compound bowmen and iron:(, then Navigation.

- Who did you decide to attack first?

Byzantium attacked me first. I was extatic b/c she would have been my first victim. Her attack was so predictable b/c my military consisted of two warriors, and my third city was close to her outpost city and it was only a matter of time. We had been friendly, so I got great lux sales, but she denounced then attacked within maybe five turns of her city plopping down near mine. I was sitting on about 1000g, so I instantly materialized a few bowmen and whipped her attack. Everyone else still loved me and denounced her. It took me another 15 turns to build a fourth and fifth bowman and a spearman, but then her first and second cities fell and were razed. Her capital was a tougher nut to crack, due to a wall and two dromonds aiding the defense. I ended up trading for some iron, and attacking with seven bowmen, a spearman a sword, and a quadreme that had sailed around from my second city on the south coast. The spear and a couple bowmen died, but I took her capital (turn 110-ish). Another bow joined the front along with a pair of pikemen, and Germany simply had to go. I waited ten turns to upgrade to crossbows, which in retrospect was a waste of time. I could have been much faster if I had been braver. Oh well.

Napolean was raising hell down in his part of the world, really kicking Caesar's teeth in and angering everybody. I had been friends with everybody, but Napolean was straining my relationships. With my second round of lux sales, I build a 4 Galleas, 2 Quadreme navy, and sailed to take Rome. My attack on Germany and sacking of Rome were nearly simultaneous (around turn 130).

From here on out, everybody was ultimately going to hate me. I'm on turn 150 now. Napolean is my only DOF Friend left, however, I'm plotting with him to attack Sully, and I'm plotting with William to attack Pacal. I have my big navy going clockwise around to the french capital. I have to decide whether to attack Sully first with France, or to backstab France, since he is on my way. Paris is awkwardly situated so I'm going to have to make a decision and hope for the best.

I have my big land force to the West, that can come attack Pacal and then William counterclockwise. I also have two Galleas and the Quadreme on that side of the world, so my plan is to complete a second navy from my south coast city by the time all of these land units get in the water to attack Pacal. We will see how those attacks go. I am ten turns from upgrading to Caravels, then 12 more to get Frigates. I need gold to get iron tho, so it will be a tough 20 turns to raise money for CS Iron then the upgrades.

- What Social Policies did you choose and why?

Tabarnak convinced me of the strengths of the four city Tradition opening. After the first two Tradition techs which put monuments in all my cities, I had to dip into Honor for the barb culture. There were simply too many barbs around and I wondered at first if they were raging. Turns out, I was just surrounded by encampments. I was having lots of requests from CS tho, and I still managed to finish tradition by turn 100 or so.

Same here. It seems they were off but not mentioned in announcement.

At first I thought it was bad luck for ruins, raging barbs, island. Turns out I was wrong wrong wrong :crazyeye:

Founded in spot, thinking if there's more than one continent then boats will be key. Started off with 2 scouts to get the lay, and also wanted to get the sight promotions for war later. Mining for Salt/Gold then straight to War Elephants, with a detour to masonry I think.

Was getting lots of friends requests, ended up friending Germany and convincing him to go to war with Theodora with me. It looked like he was pushing an army toward Mumbasa/myself, so it was a good way to prevent that. Bismark couldn't take last city, so I left them to boil as I head east. After building up again France has sent an army after Pacal and taken his 2nd city. Going to try to get Rome to fight France while he's distracted way over here, and then either Napoleon or myself will clean up Pacal. Did some empire building as I don't have the balance in building for early war down yet, so going to be a later victory :(

SS at home, hope to upload tonight.

I did not turn ruins off when I made the game. When I play-tested it I found 3-4 ruins. I'll investigate to see why they aren't showing up. Also King has more barbarians as a part of the difficulty but it is not set to Raging Barbarians. I always noticed more in standard setting on King even before GnK.

I've reached turn 153. I just conquered the Maya. One army moving from Mayan territory to the Netherlands and another on the borders of France. If all goes well I should have both armies converging on the Ottomans at the same time FTW.

I am producing 100 science per turn, 90 faith per turn (went into Piety after finishing Liberty), am about to tech gunpowder. One army consisting of knights and trebs, the other knights and x-bows. I can buy any of the three units for 240 faith which is less than 3 turns for me. Feels good to control a carpet of doom instead of defending against one this time.

Yeah, I abandoned my game when I realized there were no huts with no mention. I wouldn't have built so many scouts so early had I known there were no huts to grab. Also, Domination is my least favorite play style, and the one I'm worst at, so it was gonna be hard for me to maintain interest regardless.

This happened a few times back in the beginning, something about customizing the map removed all the goody huts.

Not doing well, dispatched Byzantines by turn 103 with four CB and three SM. Could not provoke them to DoW me as hard as I tried even though they had lots of units around me.

Kept going for Bismarck took his city above Berlin but got bogged down. His two other towns are close and i cant get everyone in at once. He keeps counterattacking and got his LKs already. I managed not to lose any units but i am not making progress. I thought LSM would break the stalemate but no. Same with discipline SP not enough. Now teching Crossbows that should do it.

I settled on gold and went wonder heavy: pyramids, SH, GL and oracle in cap and petra next to Sinai. Got 3rd pantheon and thanks to Sinai 1st religion and 1st enhance. Took tithe, WW faith, pagoda and faster spread. Pumping lots of faith now, over 30 pt. Found everyone, they all denounce me now except Nappy who is my BFF as he is so far away. I am short of iron and had to pay Tyre 1000 to get it as no decent quest from them popped up. Need more, now a settler with an elephant escort is going for a 6 iron tile deep into the eastern subcontinent. Damn just realized I didnt send a worker, and am planning to settle between iron and horses.

Do pang maps wrap around? So if I sail west will I arrive in the east?

I am having some problems figuring out how to do a fast conquest. This is only my third game where I try to go for a domination victory (the second attempt being a failed one at TSG43). When I started exploring I got really exited of all the nice settling spots for a fast science victory, then I realized I didn't have time to use them. :(
Maybe I replay the game and try science, looks like a lot of fun.

Anyway, I am currently at turn 129, and have just conquered Amsterdam. I settled on the gold and built 2 cities + NC before starting to attack my neighbors around turn 90. I was hoping to get GL to get a fast science start, but it was built on turn 44 by an AI (ouch).

I attacked the Byzantines first and have also conquered the Germans and Mayas. On of my armies is currently stuck at Dutch territory (they have refused peace so far) and the other one is at the door step of Rome. My armies are made up of CBs, musket men, trebuchets and some elephants. I am currently researching machinery, which will hopefully give me the advantage I need to quickly take down the last 3 civs. I am hoping for a victory around turn 160.

I settled on the salt and built a string of cities to connect some luxuries along the axis of the continent. I'm now at turn 143 and took out the Mayan's and am knocking on Amsterdam's door. Bowmen (upgraded to Crossbows now) and Elephants are quite a nice combination. But the going is slow. I also regret not going after Germany first as now I run the risk of him backstabbing me and I'll have to make the trek all the way North with my army.

The other civs are also quite spread out, so I'm afraid it's going to take me a while to get to each one. At least I don't have to cross any oceans.

T155 or so now and slowly getting rolling. Added Mayan and Dutch caps to my empire. Hit 20 unhappy there for a while as Utrecht burned. Now main army on Turkey's borders, few turns away from Dow.

Declared on Rome to get the achievement but it didn't trigger:( qinqeremes not enough to whittle his cap down, waiting for knights to finish the job as they have a best chance to make it there in time. Nappy will be last. I think another 20-25 turns to go.

The lack of ruins ruined my modern Liberty approach to some extent. With no extra gold or culture our first Worker didn't arrive until turn 27.

Still, Dido's empire is beginning to thrive. At turn 75, we know most of the world (still missing are the Ottoman capital and some Natural Wonders) and are starting to think about attack routes.

Settling on the coast meant the capital doesn't crowd our two desert cities, Utique on the Sugar to the west and Hippo Regius on the south coast near Brussels. A fourth city, Gades, has 4 fish in its radius.

Carthage completed the Great Library on turn 42 - didn't want to delay this on King level, the AI could be close - followed by the National College, so science is booming. :king:

A Great Prophet should arrive in another 10 turns or so. We are planning to pick Ceremonial Burial and Religious Community.

All AI so far have their capital on the coast, but some may be too far away to allow for a timely Galleass / Quinquereme assault. Perhaps we need to send our first land force to the Ottomans who must be somewhere in the southeast.

The Maya have added two cities in our direction. We may bypass those and attack their capital from the coast first instead, and then trek on towards Netherlands and Ottomans. :mischief:

Once i realized all the AI had their capitals on the coast i was delighted.

But when i teched to iron working i discovered there are insanely few iron deposits on the map, and all are FAR away from me other than two in the terrible spot up north.

My plans for Frigates are ruined.

I am going to be in for a really long game as i've focused too much on science and growth instead of units.

I'm well ahead in tech but won't likely be able to do much in war until i get Flight...heh assuming there is oil.

Life at t118
Spoiler :

Yeah i still hadn't teched Iron Working then as i'd beelined to Universities. And then i accidentally rush bought a Market instead of a University :<
