So, I am reliably informed that RFC for CIV 5 is coming close to finalization. I was just wondering if this will mean that RFC DoC will also make a conversation to CIV 5? This is possibly the best mod on CIV 4 and I would love to see it also make the switch. :)

I believe Leoreth has expressed contempt for Civilization V before;
there are a couple of quotes that can be dug up not just around here,
but throughout the Civ 4 Project & Mod Development subforum.

It was actually confirmed that Rhye was working on it, correct me if I'm wrong.

He was, not sure if he still is. I was helping him with some alpha testing back in summer, as well as creating settler maps and other stuff. Got to see Persia and Greece in CiV which was very cool. Tho' I had to stop helping due to a family emergency, and haven't heard from him since.

I assume it's still ongoing, but not sure how fast it will be. And from what I've heard, CiV is limited in the number of civs you can have at once (max is around 31 I think), so not sure a DoC style expansion would be possible.

And thats why I dislike CiV, too many hardcoded settings that are irrational. But I think they will be removed in future (read: buy an expansion).

I've never played it, and from everything I've heard, it'll stay that way.
Why're you posting this topic here anyway?

I think it's more a problem of core-game mechanics.
From what I've read it sounds like they tried to sell it to the RTS crowd and people who find management decisions and city planning 'boring' to focus on Combat aspects.

They did not try to sell it to the RTS crowd.
If that were the case, Civ5 would've been like Age of Empires.

They tried to push it to the war-gaming/table-top crowd if the game mechanics are any evidence.
It's a good game, but it just isn't immersive enough as a Civilization game should be.
