I have had an idea for an AAR stewing in my head for some time now, and I wanted to see what you guys though of it as well as get some input.

Basically, it would be a combination of this, GaP, and a little RP thrown in.

The Basic Premise:

Earth has terraformed another planet and sent out colony ships. However, some disaster befalls Earth/Expedition/Both which cuts the colony off from the Motherworld for thousands of years. The Expedition devolves to chaos, with the national groups splitting up and settling separately.

Rules Overview:

The rules would be simple, but purposefully open to player manipulation. Basically, I put the RP rules and some Kushana Initiative stuff into the Charter that our nation granted the Colony. Note that we don't necessarily have to keep the Charter. It's like a Constitution in GaP, except for written by the Mother Country (me) before the game begins.

We would have money, using the 1 in-game gold=5 dollars, or eagles, or dineros, or whatever.

I would also probably use the family mechanics from GaP, along with the movement/actions rule.

Other than that, it's up to the players to find the groups they want to use to do something, or find out how to create them, etc. I would, of course, do my best to help if they asked in a PM.

Major Comments/Questions:
What do you think?
Comments?
Questions?
Suggestion?
Should we start at the Industiral Level to simulate a likely colony package? Or should we start at the beginning of time, with some techs added, because of the Disaster? Another era?

Please keep in mind that I am trying to keep this simple yet fun, as I don't have enough time to fit a GaP so terribly well.

Looks interesting. I would think starting in the Industrial era or higher would be good. What would be the main objective of the game? (like player supremacy, or being the first to reach a goal like: being able to return to the motherland with a scientific victory, or reuniting all the settlements into one with a military/diplomatic victory, or achieving a Utopia, etc)

The goal we go for would be up to the players and open to change. I was thinking that we could use a Presitge system similar to that used in Imperium Romanum and GaP.

The problem is that I can't take the time to do long formulas, but I think the Presitge mechanic is a little subjective. Do you have any ideas?

Yeah, for less time consuming purposes you could just base it on your judgement, or make a list of actions and give rewards to them (like 10 points per session or turn if sitting on throne, 30 points for assassinating leader, 100 points for capturing city, etc) and have top rewards for completing a goal like scientific victory, military vistory, etc. Player with most points at the end wins.

Okay my internet is playing up. So this will be a short THIRD (#$RVT$W Y) reply as the last ones died while trying to post.

1) Nice Ideas
2) I will most be interested in the history of the world. I.e. how will competing factions have emerged if it is a industrial society
3) Will you be using base civ, or a mod
4) I think your title should read "Interest check"

EDIT: Turns out it was sending the replies but not TELLING me I was sending them. I hate that I have now wasted half an hour of my life on this.

1) Thanks
2) The civs will be the colonies of nations from Earth, if that's what you're asking.
3) I am gonna use Base Civ. I was contemplating using Legends of Revolution, but I wanted to control the other civs in order to enable more RP, and the Revolutions would mean there would be some civs I didn't control.
4) One of those typos you miss, until you actually post the darn thing.

I'll join. I'm also planning on running a (semi) interactive AAR after Eternal Empire is finished, so hopefully between the two of these S&T could be revived.

I'll join up, although I have to read up on how these are done at CivFans. I'm a Paradoxian ex-patriot, and let me tell you, they have utterly insane rather strict rules about iaars.
