Hello all of civ4 bts lovers,

its me again, keldath,

well, after years of silence,

i have taken on a new mod project for my self, so i give you:

Battle for barsoom - john carter.

i have began working on the mod, on first stage, im working on the xmls total conversion, i will add all the art whn i finish first making al of the xml.

the mod will be a civ adaptation of the barsoom stories , ill try to be as much faithful to the books as i can be.

the mod is based on the great super mod of kmod.

so here is what ive done so far:

i have a tech tree that i pulled from my moon mod - i need to change some names there for barsoomian like.

thats all what i have done so far on the xml,

no art is yet present.

i have to do the units ( i have made some already), buildings, specialists and so on.



i would welcome anything the community can offer, help, ideas, arts and a map script (for now i plat on making something like lakes map)

escort airships - some are helicopter like some are air missions

going to set up the units next.
 
I think it might be a good idea to write a summary of what you are planing and background on what Barsoom is. Perhaps it is only me that have no idea.

your right friend, i forgot to put on the headline of the post that its - battle for barsoom - john carter...

this mod will be based of the stories of john carter + the disney 2012 movie.

barsoom is the name of mars (its a fictional stroy that tells about a rich life going on on mars).

I didn't know what Barsoom was before but it sounds very interesting. I liked your SoTM mod, it was a real inspiration for making the Colonization 2071 mod :scan:

I do have an extensive set of scifi building and resource nifs I'd been collecting for the 2071 mod; if you're looking for more graphics feel free to post anything you're looking for and I can try to upload a set of nifs you might use.

really? my sotm was an inspiration?? thank you so much!

i wanted so bad to renew my sotm mod - but i had some ctd in it, and yesteray i doscovered what it was ! by working on my new mod ( i barrrowed some stuff from there, and also got the ctd, and found the cause ( forgot to put anumber between yield><iyield...)

so thank you very much for the offer - i too in the proccess of colletion of art, so if u got them, i need them :)

i decided to work first on all of the xml and let the art stage be the finla, i still have some more xml work so art is coming soon.

Sure you're welcome keldath! It seems true total conversion modding in Civ5 is just not feasible :sad:, so we always need more good total conversion modders working with Civ4 and Civ4Col! :goodjob:

Ok, its too big to upload to civfanatics, but I've uploaded a big zip of good scifi nif art files below:

It's mainly a set of nifs I've collected from here and other mods, some with modifications I've made using nifskope or minor dds reskins. :assimilate:

If you're looking for some nice terrain textures, check out Master of Mana which has some of the best terrains around. (And also Dune Wars, but you already knew that! ;))

If you're looking for unit nifs for Barsoom animals, download Caveman 2 Cosmos mod as it has a big set of animal nifs.
 
Glad to hear the work is progressing! As a reward for your hard work I made you a mainmenu screen to help out: :king:

It's the orbiting planets screen from Dune Wars; replaced with Mars, Phobos and Deimos behind a slideshow of scenes from the movie. For the music I chose "El Hai" by Asura. I haven't loaded it in game yet but let me know how you like it! :scan::cool:

wow, u got me so happy, i cant thank you enough for this my good man.

its great, just great.

(although - i got a pink background for the slides and the stars, probably i forgot a reference somewhere :) ill figure it out tomorrow).

this inspires me even more to work on it !!!

Great, that looks even better! :thumbsup: I was going to upload the FF star background but looks like u already found it. Here are dds slides with alpha channel fade effect along the edges which could look somewhat nicer. I couldn't find out how to add more slides than were in the original nif, but if you know how to do that there are some more images that could be added.

Sure I would be glad to help out a little, but I won't have lots of time though in the coming months due to work & RL. Maybe I could do some English text editing plus collect some nice mp3s for a soundtrack. Redeveloping the 2071 mod is stalled at the moment since I don't know c++ and would need to be able to merge DLL from the Tech modcomp with Religion & Revolution before making it; I still hope to make a much improved version 2.0 someday though :scan:

Interesting I didn't know that! Is that song sung in Hebrew or another language, I couldn't identify what language that is.
