Mod Thread: Fallout: Tame the Waste

Would you like to be involved in making
Fallout: Tame the Waste
a reality?

We are looking to recruit volunteers of all skill levels, even those just starting out in xml, for various jobs.

We can help you to learn various tasks in xml and give you a real platform for your work to be a part of.

There are literally hundreds of small coding jobs to do that require little to no coding ability,
(I mean I am doing it how hard can it be?!?)
Including:

Adding Buildings (Tutorial Available in Dev Group) [Very Easy!!]
Adding Techs
Adding Units
Modifying BTS content to fit the Fallout World.
And so much more!

If all you know is how to add a building, you could help accelerate the mod considerably by adding in a huge range of buildings.

We have a small Dev and Testing Team which now works in our Secret Vault, if you join us we could find a place for you with clean sheets, purified water and all the hydroponic vegetables you can eat!

I say that purely for your real comment :D

My passion is the real fallout, but basically it will span all of the games, the game begins a few years before F1, and then era two is F1, era three is F2/Tactics, era four is F3/NV, this way everyone is happy and it makes sense when we talk about a 'civ' game, as civ naturally covers the span of history in this case the Fallout Games.

Yes we already have buildings and units, basically we have completed era 1 (for the most part) The issue is that there are lots of jobs to do and we have loads of units, buildings, etc. to add, even if someone only adds the basic frame work (i.e. adding in the xml references for each building but not doing the 'details' within the entry) this would still massively reduce the workload and increase the speed of development and it barely requires knowledge of coding, so if I had someone to do the 'basic adding' then I whip through and make it all work right etc. even this little support would makes things much easier.

We currnetly have a list of 12 buildings to add for the first version of Era 2 (F1 era)

All my time and energy just gets drained by the copy paste repeat process, so I have less time to develop ideas or do other more complicated parts of the mod, so I thought to myself, lots of people have expressed an interest and a wish to help, but have felt they have 'no coding skills' and suddenly I thought.... "all these jobs don't need coding skills" just the ability to press copy paste and use notepad++, which is no more complicated than any word processor, and any struggles with it I can certainly help them through. So I thought lets see if we can tap this group of people with a passion for the mod and help them to really be a part of it.

Even if someone gave an hour of their time on a saturday to work through as much of the building list as they can adding in 5, 10, 20 buildings it would take a big chunk of work off me and I could focus on other jobs. They would also get to be a part of the dev team and see how easy modding civ can be.

I am glad to see this mod is still alive. I had actually tried my hand at making a fallout mod a couple of months ago but eventually just dropped it.

Anyhow I'd like to join your team and offer you my quarter of the way made mod.

It has a tech tree, a handful of units and buildings, and a few civilization and static leader heads. As well as some development plans that you guys are welcome to use or no use. Hopefully your mod is able to salvage some of the parts and put them to good use.

Hi clanky, It would be great to have you join our team :)

I am sure there are plenty of things that you could help us with if you were still interested in being part of a fallout project.

I have been working on this mod for years on and off, trying to develop it and make it better (and work out what the heck I am actually doing!!) :)

A couple of nights ago I finished programming the first pass of my 100+ tech tree, which was such a headache :)

Still a long way to go, but it is exciting to be working with a team of guys now, and it would be great to have you aboard, if you are interesteed in joining, pm me an email address so I can send you a link to our dropbox and then after that i will get dotter to add you to our DEV group :)
