Hey everybody, I'm new here but I had a few pet peeves with vanilla BTS, so I went ahead and made a mod that fixed them, and decided to upload it here in case anyone else wants to enjoy it. I decided my main goal would be to fix or remove things from the game I didn't like but keep everything individually toggleable as a Game Option in the Custom Game menu. Mainly, I have revised the No Espionage game option, and added two new options to remove the Apostolic Palace and Airships from the game (you can't build them, and neither can the AI).

On top of that, I've taken the liberty to merge the mod with BUG. Here are the main things it does:

======================
[Badgame] No Espionage
======================

Retools the "No Espionage" Game Option to not only remove Espionage units but retain the original Culture border-pop thresholds and rebalance or remove EP-earning buildings. This option does the following:

+ Civs cannot spy on each other by allocating Espionage Points.
+ The Intelligence Agency, Security Bureau, and Spy are not buildable, and do not appear anywhere on the Technology Advisor or on the Technology Discovery screen.
+ The Palace no longer earns Espionage Points.
+ Courthouses no longer earn Espionage Points and do not allow you to allocate Spy Specialists. This change has also been applied to all UB Courthouses (Aztec Sacrifical Altar, Holy Roman Rathaus, Sumerian Ziggurat).
+ Jails no longer earn Espionage Points and do not allow you to allocate Spy Specialists, but their hammer cost has been reduced to 100 (from 120). This change also applies to the Indian UB, the Mausoleum.
+ Castles no longer earn Espionage Points, but now provide +2 culture instead of +1 are obsoleted at Railroad instead of Economics. This change also applies to the Spanish UB, the Citadel.
+ Forbidden Palace now pops Great Merchants instead of Great Spies, like in Vanilla Civ 4.
+ Great Wall now pops Great Engineers instead of Great Spies, like in Warlords.
+ Pentagon now pops Great Engineers instead of Great Spies, like in Vanilla.
+ Kremlin now pops Great Artists instead of Great Spies, like in Vanilla, and no longer allows you to allocate Spy Specialists.
+ The alternate, "No Espionage" versions of all of the buildings listed above are listed in the Civilopedia.
+ You can view demographic information for all Civs as soon as you meet them.

=============================
[Badgame] No Apostolic Palace
=============================

When this option is checked, no Civ can build the Apostolic Palace. Leaves the United Nations intact. Useful if you're sick of being goaded into war with your allies in the early game because you have one city that has a different religion than all the rest.

=====================
[Badgame] No Airships
=====================

When this option is checked, no Civ can build Airships. Airships aren't really huge game-changers, but the AI likes to build a lot of them and have them all attack one at a time to do miniscule damage to your stack of Riflemen or whatever.

Again, these are all GAME OPTIONS and are individually selectable when you create a Custom Game. Turn all of 'em on! Turn some of 'em on! Turn all of 'em off and play the game with my mod for absolutely no reason!

Currently I don't support BULL (BUG Mod DLL), sorry. I will in the future!

I also AM taking feature requests from anyone who wants certain stuff to be toggleable as a game option but would otherwise like to play a normal game of Civ 4: BTS. Another thing I have planned is an option that changes all Peak tiles to something else (probably desert hills) since peaks are an annoying and useless tile about 99% of the time.

Look at all the options!

Proof that I got it working with BUG. Whether or not I cheated when I discovered Alphabet in 3920 BC and have a visible Lake/Corn/Farm tile is left as an exercise to the reader.

BUG tech picker. Note the Spy's gone.

Known issues!
-The Sevopedia (BUG Civilopedia) lists all of the modified buildings twice, which I plan on fixing soon.

You can get it here: [BHP server (my personal webspace)] [CivFanatics (pending mod approval)]

No fancy installers or nothin', just a folder to extract to the Mods directory.

Anyway if this sounds like a good time for you, try it out and let me know if you find anything weird happening!

EDIT: Fixed a problem with the Demographics screen not showing up because I uploaded the wrong file.

Great mod, I'm glad to be rid of espionage.

I don't suppose you can do a quick update to remove Corporations?

There's an idea. Maybe replace guilds with the corps? just wishing lol. I like the guilds concept better than dealing with corps.

2 Things I would LOVE to see as game options would be Corporations and Religion.

I totally hate both of them. In my personal mod I am working to remove them, but your method would be much nicer.

Nice mod! I'll test it out, for sure.

Sorry if I can't give much input; I've just started playing BtS. Had waaay too much fun with vanilla, then a 2-year hiatus from Steam... only recently reinstalled steam and (finally) downloaded BtS :P
