House rules:

- Try to maintain a high science rate. Reinforcements will arrive!

- Negotiations between players and AI controlled civs are forbidden!

- No using aircraft allow ground units to bypass enemy zone of control.

- No air protected stacks (IE Aircraft in same stack as ground or sea units).

- A fighter unit in an adjacent square to a ground unit provides it with air cover. The protected ground units cannot be attacked by air until the fighter

cover is destroyed.

- No violating neutral territory (France or Portugal).

- No Terraforming under cities. They all have Trenches terrain (or equivalent).

- If City Defences are destroyed upon capture they MUST immediately be rebuilt using the CivCity tool. Save your game, rename the save from .hot to .sav

(ignore warnings), open CivCity, load the save and add the Defences back + save, rename the file back from .sav to .hot, reload your game and play on. This

is to ensure that hotly contested cities are not destroyed completely.

- Road pillaging is not allowed in game and there is a house rule forbidding it too. The same applies to Stackable terrain.

Take a look at the Game Concepts section of the Civilopedia.

EDIT: I just realised that I hadn't posted anything in post one! Added the house rules there, but as I said, they are in the Game Concepts section of the Civilopedia too. I thought it was a neater way than including a separate text document or html.

War is coming.

Let us not Dali.

A great optical start! :goodjob:

One thing I may have overlooked is the engineers working speed. It may still be set for transforming the terrain under cities. I will check now and let you know. To be fair I wouldn't expect the Nationalists to be building that many trenches in the first few turns so I doubt any harm will have been done.

PRONUNCIAMENTO!

The Armed Forces of Spain have risen to protect the nation! Led by General Francisco TechFranco, the Army of Africa is crossing the Straits of Gibraltar to defend national honour. It will defend the Holy Church, the Landowners and Capitalists and the Officer Corps from workers and peasants infected with anarchism and Bolshevism. Viva Espana!

Bansko in Bulgarian Macedonia to be specific. Perhaps not as glamourous as some of the central European resorts, but a hell of a lot cheaper, and for the past few years there has been plenty of snow. The Apres Ski is good with beer costing from 80p to £2 for a pint (a pint in Cardiff nowadays will set you back £3.50 - £4!). I have only been skiing for a few years now so I still find the runs challenging enough. This year we have got a gang of fifteen people together so it should be a proper laugh :D

Looks like the ski run ends up in Bansko High Street Drew. Watch out for the traffic mate! Have a good 'un.

The Government of the Republic resolves to crush the uprising by force of arms. Most of the Navy and large sections of the Army, Assault Guard and Civil Guard stay loyal. They are reinforced by the separatist Basques and a the Militianos; a term covering the various Communist, Anarchist and Trade Union Militias that spring up to defend the revolution against the Right. In most large cities the rebellion is crushed and the Government retain control of Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Cartagena.

In the north the Army and Basque Gudaris assault the town of Miranda de Ebro, taking heavy casulaties amongst the Gudaris Battalions (six lost) but securing the town.

In Aragon Calatayud falls to a combined air and motorized raid by Republican forces from Madrid and Guadalajara.

In the Asturias the city of Oviedo is captured after a determined assault by army units and Asturian militia:

The defence of Oviedo, where Colonel Aranda played a major role, falls before the attacks of the Asturian revolutionaries, who besieged the city since the beginning of the War. Now Asturias is completely under Republican control.

The Republicans sustain very heavy casualties (4 Infantry Btn, 14 Militia Btn and a 75mm Battery) but their revolutionary zeal ensures they complete their task.

There is a strong belief on the Left that the Rebellion will be swiftly crushed and the fighting will be over by Christmas.

COMMUNICADO

Nacionales forces in the north have retaken Miranda de Ebro from the Reds and Basque separatists in a bloody battle. Losses were extremely heavy on both sides, the heroic Nacionales losing 14 units, mainly Falange troops from Burgos, while the godless Republicans lost approximately 8 units, including Republican regulars and Basque Guardis units. Also in the north-east, Carlist Requetes have surrounded 2 groups of Basques terrorists that infiltrated south between Pamplona and Logrono.

In the north-west, the magnificent Airforce of the Spanish Nation has destroyed a Milicianos battalion and a half wrecked group of funny old tanks north of Miero. Flight Lieutenant Flugencio dos Macho said, "It was not a military operation really, more like target practice."

On the Catalan front, a sharp counter-attack by Nacionales forces has retaken Calatayud from the Reds. Republican forces lost 3 battalions defending the town, including motorized infantry and 2 squadrons of Bre19 bombers, destoyed on the ground. Nacionales losses were 5 regular battalions and one Bre19 squadron shot down.

On the Andalusian front, the Army of Africa is unstoppable. It has siezed 7 towns - Morbella, Malaga, Motril, Almeria, Jaen, Guadix, and Andujar. Resistance was light or non-existant except in Almeria, where the Reds attempted to make a stand. Enemy losses amount to 7 Civil Guard battalions, 2 Milicianos, one regular infantry and a squadron of Nieuport 52 fighters, destroyed on the ground. A number of Communist partisan units have been rounded up and shot. Nacionales losses were one regular battalion.

A great victory in the Mediterranian! Nacionales aircraft have sunk two Republican cruisers SE of Gibraltar. The crews of two Airforce Potez 540 squadrons have been decorated by Generalissimo TechFranco himself.

The Republican Army goes onto the offensive on the Aragon front to clear the road to Madrid. Belchite and Teruel fall without the need for major losses. However the attack on Zaragoza is a very bloody affair indeed! The entire garrison of Zaragoza are destroyed or forced to surrender (Inc. Commander, 7 Infantry, 1 or possibly 2 Motorized Inf, 1 Artillery and 3 Aircraft), the Motorized Infantry in particular cause a lot of casualties amongst the attackers. The Republicans lose two Bombers, one Tank, one Motorized battalion and eighteen Infantry of all types.

Near Gaudix one Bandera of the Legion is bestroyed by Republican Breguet 19s.

Out to sea the Republican navy located and sinks two Rebel supply ships south of the Balearic Islands. The Republic loses another of its Cruisers and its captain goes mad and attacks the heavily defended port of Geuta whilst on route through the striates.
