Greetings, Immortals and would-be Immortals (and indeed any other players of any level), and welcome to the Immortal University.

Here is our Leader:

Here's the opening scene:

The following settings were used to create this map

And the Demographics for people to spot any info they can

Before we start, here's the copy & paste bit where I get to pretend that I'm TMIT:

To play, just extract the WB save file into your worldbuilder saves directory, then play it. Use custom scenario if you want some extra settings to tickle your fancy. This series was designed for people learning immortal, so most people here will be at that level or trying to attain it, although deity players are welcome also. Hell, if you want to play this on NOBLE. The intention of this and any other game thread I post is to get better. Play whatever level you need in order to improve.

If you are aspiring IMM+, try to remember to add archery back to the barbs in WB. Every time you don't, a deity AI will kill a kitten, although there are a lot of kittens so it's not the end of the world if you prefer easymode barbs .

I do request people to list their difficulty and speed. In terms of updates, well nobody follows that anyway. Post in the manner you feel comfortable. Typical comparison dates are 1 AD, liberalism, and victory/defeat, as well as any major events. If in doubt, go with that.

We also have an initial Immortal/Normal autosave which is much more convenient since you can avoid all the worldbuilder shenanigans. It comes with my personal seal of approval (not least as my worldbuilder edits may contain hideous game-destroying errors that could cause your computer to explode ).

No edits were made to the map. I decided to post this one a bit earlier because of the lack of popularity with the last map. Have fun and happy civing.

People are not ready for funky stuff. People are not ready...

Settle 1E on stone.

Hmmm....such a start for a spy economy.

Agriculture ==> Mining ==> Masonry (40% modifier from Myst and Mining)

Build SH and GW and gamble on a fast GSpy.

Second city could be settled on sugar, but with such lack of info, that's definitely not settled. But that city site would be a perfect palace relocalization for a bureaucratic capital.

Warrior 1NW to see if we don't miss anything from settling on stone.

Since you are along me in Kaku, you know I'm an idiot when it comes to use a compass.

yeah the last map didn't get alot of play, i guess i know the reputation of highlands now :)

pangea with this start should get more interest for sure, thanks for putting it up

Pangaea is boring as hell. People are somewhat boring too. I am in my manner too.

Thanks for posting a new game. Yeah low sea level killed the last game for me. Lot of effort for the stompers. Making culture/space the easy way out.

@Tachy - Never Eat Shredded Wheat. N E S W. ;)

Pangea map and mids. That would be most rude!!! I am not against great spies. I like experimenting on Immortal. Sometimes you win other times you get bashed about.

Right let's give this a whirl.

No problem, I get that now and I think if I ever do that map script again I'll add an AI or two. To tell you guys the truth I never finished that game... :mischief:

@ Tachy

"People are not ready for funky stuff. People are not ready..." inside joke? I don't get it.

Spoiler :
Ughh, contender for shittiest land of the year...

I am very dependant on Capac ATM.

edit ~400 failgold from Mids is funding Machinery quite nicely.

I tripped up trying to do too many things at once. slightly behind, and my next target of war just peacevassaled to biggest techer. still could get out of it as i have biggest chunk of land with room to grow. way behind in tech tho

Deity 900BC

Spoiler :
SIP, founded 2nd city on Sugar and wanted to chop the mids in it, so i can keep on expanding and build workers settlers chariots with my capitol to fill out the decent land in our back.
Lost Mids by 1 Turn to the Inca in 900BC, who doesn't seem to be nearby , happiness cap 5 :crazyeye: Horse Archer Rush window is closed i guess. With inca as neighbour i would continue, but that way i'd rather restart. Maybe i try to settle crap city with gems/elephants next time just to get the ressources. I hate bulding wonders i don't wanne do it ever...

Pangaea, coastal start: settling inland is a strong move, since it helps secure a lot more land. (How many SIP/settle-on-stone will settle city 2 on/right by the sugar?)
2E1S of settler looks like a VERY strong long-term capital (needs growth). Stone remains accessible in cap's 3rd ring: T51. That means forgoing Stonehenge/G. Wall but leaves Pyramids and later wonders very accessible.

1755 AD Domination / Emperor

Spoiler :
I messed around in this game a lot which explains the later finish date. But mainly I took Tachy's advice (well some of it) and built SH, GW, and Mid's, landed a GSpy as my first GP. Did the mission on Cyrus and stole techs from him during the Lib race.

Started warring with Cuirs, cyrus, pacal, then HC. Then Cavs came into play and capped the pretty powerful mehmed, (we had a little war b4 this during the HC war) but he couldn't handle the power of Cavs. He had a lot of units, big SOD, but after that was destroyed he threw in the towel. Saladin was next, noticed I was close to land already had pop for domination, kicked the culture slider up and hit Domination VC, right after capping Saladin.

Yeah I know cheese Cuirs and Cavs on Pangaea, its pretty typical, but fun for me. Maybe for the heck of it I'll try this again and use a totally different strategy. But dang I was suprised how awesome that Great Spy was and using that mission to steal multiple techs from cyrus, good stuff.

Looks like a small peninsula, so I'm not sure i really want to settle on the stone. Wasting a turn to settle where the warrior is seems like a good move. Huge commerce potential for a bureau cap, and still decent production with 2 grass hills and a the plains cow for 10 base hammers. That also introduces the ever-difficult question of whether to cottage the sugars or wait for Calendar to plantation them. You could cottage 1 of them here and still have the 2nd for the happiness bonus (if needed), only losing the potential trade revenue from the 2nd.
