So, there's something about this guys that, when not overun in their early stages, they become unstopable in most of my games.

They seem to be able to very quickly produce infinite numbers of units, probably drafting? , this is really a pain in the age of rifleman, but they also produce lots of cavalry/cuirassiers, and I mean, they really really spam ALOT, more than russia and germany.

This would be ok for me, but since the modder loves enforcing history most notably via stacks of doom...is there a way to enforce the dawnfall of the ottomans? Maybe lots of rebel stacks? (not that they would have much effect considering their huge army)

Not really.

The Ottomans don't tend to runaway in tech, so it's never too much of an issue, unless you're doing something wrong.
And the drafting is typically from the Topkapi Palace, which is to be expected.
Typically, the Ottomans expand to upwards of 20+ cities and don't have very good stability after the fact.
Suleiman is VERY easy to maintain good relations with, as well.

Which civilization are you playing as?

Right now I am Prussia, but as you say they are not that agressive, and kinda friendly once you turn secular.

I had a war with them because they had a defensive pact with Russia which I attacked, and I sadly had to reload because their army was absolutely enormous and somehow they were on par on military techs with me (and I am second after England) it's 1828 and their overall score wasn't that high, but somehow they sent the biggest stack I've seen in a while to Vienna. before reloading I entered worldbuilder to delete it and see how many men they had in that stack and i probably right clicked it like 30 times before it started to visibly lower hehe

I also noticed this as Italy, how their armies were just enormous if you didn't take Constantinople before them.

But the reason I made this thread is because on the dmeoprahics ledger their POWER score grew astronomically the 5 or so turns since they started the war with me, somehow they got all the cool techs and an even bigger stack and I just got mad and shot myself in my bunker.

If I'm playing a Euro civ I usually make a point to kill them before they get to rifles, it saves a lot of pain in the long run.

This is what I mean! dem annoying turks.
So the only way to explain THAT, is because they somehow got the latest tech upgrade, they had huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge army and enouuugh gold to upgrade all that.

I suck at posting images at forums, I am more of an image board user hehe

Indeed. My favorite DoC AI (and Civ IV leader in general) along with Elizabeth and Pericles.

In one of my best American games, Suleiman peace Vassalized to me due to the Russian-Iranian threat. What a guy!

Yeah, Sully is a dear. In an England game I used my Indian troops and beelined straight for Constantiniople, the moment I took it he capitulated despite having a slightly higher power rating than I did he still was smart enough to figure out that I could ravage his core while his obsolete troops were off in Russia.

I usually try to get defensive pact with ottomans. I can't really think of any reason not to, uhv that require killing them, except maybe america. In domination game, no reason to go after middle east. Just leave them alone lol.

But yeah, I definitely see them with large army quite often. If you need to take them out, you have to beat them to rifling, or else all those upgraded janissaries will become super rifles.

ive had similar issues with russia. they managed to send THREE S.O.D.s at me in one of my Italy games. Obviously i was quickly destroyed

The Ottomans usually collapse eventually in my games, but yeah, they can build some pretty huge empires.

In my Italian Game they built the Apollo Program in 1942, and by the time they collapsed in the 80s had 1/2 of a spaceship. they had 28 cities spanning from Pakistan, to Morocco, to the Ukraine, and Barcelona as well. they were solid until the 1930s. In that game I sort of got SODed by the Germans, Spanish, Russians, and Ottomans at the same time.

well, at least one AI civ is working properly. I mean, who else, if not for the ottomans, would give a challenge?
