These are coming a bit fast atm and it seems peeps are still playing the past ones but no worries - these are more than slightly different so the interest groups might also not be overlapping for 100% and hc gamers will probably welcome any odd game.

St. Patrick's day approaching (I've been informed, not a clue personally) so Boudicca is the favoured chick. The map is pangaea with std 8/16 civs/CS all other settings on default. The starting position seems a bit odd but interesting.

- Druidic Lore. +1 Faith per city with an adjacent unimproved Forest. Bonus increases to +2 Faith in Cities with 3 or more adjacent unimproved Forest tiles.
- The Ceilidh Hall is a Renaissance-era building unique to the Celts, replacing the Opera House. It increases the city's +4 Culture and +3 Happiness.
- Pictish Warrior. It has a combat bonus outside of friendly territory and can pillage enemy improvements at no additional movement cost. Earns 50% of opponents' strength as Faith for kills.

Great with a new map Grendeldef. Mine was a utterly fail I realized hehe ;). I will try this one :)

Boo desert! At least it has wine.

Wine is always nice; even ingame wine but I was more intrigued by the chance of desert start with the Celts (not desert) - a potential for massive faith output. The other thing hill, riverside start with salt - possibly the game is already half won there but depending on neighbours & area in wider perspective it seems that even cult vc might be something to pursue.

Spoiler :
I only played up to turn 7 or 8 when I met 1st neighbour & decided to save the map. I have an odd habit of rolling maps when I have no interest or time to actually play but I'm doing something less than hectic with PC or nearby when occasionally pressing restart isn't much time consuming.

---
Crap, I really shouldn't be doing 27 other things while writing here - it seems to cause incomprehensible if occasionally hilarious spelling errors.

This start looked so nice that I decided to try deity challenge for the first time on it. The only problem is that I've never played deity before this. Needless to say, I lost.
Spoiler :
Started out strong with first religion. Uluru and desert folklore really helped. Did a two city NC after founding my second city. As soon as I finished NC, Darius dowed me. I only had a warrior and a pictish with no walls, but somehow I survived. I had just started to train units, so I had a decent army of composites within 20 turns. I started marching the composites towards Darius' capital, but just then Spain dowed me. Spain had decided to found a city south of me even though she was at the top of the pangea, and the city was in tundra, so the units came from the south, which I was not expecting, and the came for my second city. I fought them off and took Cordoba, but then Darius marched another army to my cap and Greece dowed me, which resulted in me losing my cap. Greek and Persian units were occupying almost every tile near both of my main cities. My science was also pretty bad because I only had two cities that I founded and I was ocusing on creating units most of the time.

Yes, hogging all the faith. I cant play this yet, I am still at work.

Edit: Whenever I see salt, I go worker first and then research mining. We will get Desert Folklore on turn 10 automatically.

Is it actually possible to get Petra on Deity?
I always got my a.. handed to me by AIs on Deity, but maybe holy warriors could save this one.

Seems like a pretty easy game?

Spoiler :

Darius wonderspammed under my nose so I punished him. Got Hanging Garden and ToA for free. No real runaways.

I still don't have NC though. But I am running Messenger to the Gods so it's not terribly bad. I will probably get Darius's last city and go for SV.

Doh
Got killed by Darius on T 50 when he attacked me with half a dozen immortals, half a dozen chariot archers and half a dozen archers.
How are you supposed to defend against this. My build order was Scout - Monument - Library - Archer - Pictish Warrior - Archer - Pictish (got wiped before last Pictish could appear) so don't tell me i necglected my defense!

I popped a map ruin and found Darius, but I avoided meeting him and he started wonder spamming. So I just walked into him with my Picts and CBs.

OK I finished playing. Pretty easy game overall.

I used the Liberty opening and Messenger to the Gods (because Dublin had 3 forests + Uluru which was more than enough faith for me to found my religion). I was more of less able to ICS in peace, got 9 cities, opened Order, Planned Economy, and snowballed from there. After crushing my first neighbour, I grew like crazy off 9 cities (Celtic UB helped a lot to maintain my happiness). I got a lead in science after turn 180ish and was the first one to enter Modern era, and the rest snowballed off that.

Spoiler :

I popped a ruin and saw Darius to my right, but I managed to not meet him MANY turns later.

Darius decided to wonder spam in front of me, bad idea.

Darius had Statue of Zeus, ToA, and Hanging Garden. It was also a really nice city by itself. Thanks Darius.

Isabella had been drooling over my land for a while now, but I managed to redirect her focus to Darius. I got the final prize, of course.

Alberti's report at turn 225 pretty much showed that I have won the game (in fact I hit Modern on Turn 180). However, I had negative gpt for probably 100 turns after taking out Darius I had no gold whatsoever. It even costed my bpt for quite a few turns - until I got both Sovereignty and Socialism.

Spain finally managed to dow me by turn 250ish. She had a huge army, but I was 1~2 eras ahead of her. She did manage to significantly slow my progress though.

Isabella gave up at the end, but Rome dowed me -- too bad for him though, I had only one space part left. However, when I lost Pasargadae I actually lost a bit of aluminum, which delayed my spaceship by another turn. I won on turn 279. Given the starting point, I think I could have won a lot faster if I focused on gold a bit more, but oh well.

I think it is probably very possible to win via domination this game if I pick up my balls and face Isabella head on earlier. But science victory isn't too bad.

Went for liberty this time, as I plan to kill persia quick and go for domination.

religion: thought about desert forklore and god of the war, but chose the safe path. Enhanced already and got ceremonial burial - pagoda - itinerant preachers - cathedrals.

bought one worker, stole one persian worker and one CS worker. 2nd city on top of gold near ulruru and 3rd city east of cap near truffles (position to fight against persia).

defended with 1-2 pitish warriors and 4-5 archers. Got CBs at t60 and upgraded 7-8 archers. Used citadel to take persia cap quick. Got a peace deal with all gold he got (about 200g).

Not sure I will play this more, but if I do, it is likely that I build NC and expand - attack spain and greece.

Yes map is way too easy. I am trying cultural vic too make it a bit of a challenge though.

Would be fun if people could be creative with next challenge settings to make it harder. Must fun would be a good civ and a goood start but still a hard map! :)

215 culture at turn 153. No clue if it is good lol.

so sexy start, will play for sure! :) Domination seems obvious to me! most enjoyable victory condition imo

How did you get so many archers as quickly? Apart from completely ignoring library and rushing archery instead of writing i don't see how i could have produced more of them before t50

Maybe you should be more careful what you say, some people might feel insulted ;)
