Can people please let me hind in a corner...

...it appears it is not Ragusa's colour-type combination that has been replaced (MINOR_MIDDLE_CYAN), but rather, Venice's (MINOR_CYAN).

I thank TheKingOfBigOz for bringing this to my attention, but I feel kind of stupid for not realising this earlier. I'll provide some screenshots in a few minutes to demonstrate the point.

I feel kind of silly right now. Anyhow, it seems that it was Venice, not Ragusa, that has been replaced. I am so sorry.

So does this mean that it is not known whether Ragusa is in or not? Or does it mean that we know Ragusa is in or not in?

Because I don't see this moving the needle much regarding Venice or Italy theories.

Hmm, intestesting.

But even if Venice is going to become a civ (that would be really cool) ragusa should be replaced too, as ragusa was a venitian city if i remember correct

Still, seem Italy chances improved a lot

It's very possible that Ragusa, could simply be renamed to that.. city... Dubro..something.. which would make just as much sense.

It appears we have no idea what's going on in reference to Ragusa, it does mean however, if I've got the colour right now, that Venice is no longer a city state based on everything we know about the game so far. This most likely means Italy, but could still mean Venice.

Give me a moment, I'm working on some city states, but the corner feels so safe right now.

The plot thickens. Still not entirely 100% convinced, but I will say I'm starting to get more and more closer to being 100% convinced.

Yay! Venice as a civ! I could never have guessed it, but it makes sense now. They pretty much built their entire empire on trade, and today Venice is a real tourist magnet. Genius!

We haven't actually seen Panama City, but does Bratislava share the same art style as Warsaw?

If so, then somebody needs to see if Riga is the same as Venice (that being ARTSTYLE_GRECO_ROMAN)

Hold your horses! Venice would also be an integral part of an Italian civ. It means one of the two is the case. We just don't know which yet.

We've seen it's colour, and at least that one can't be anything else.

I'm struggling to get a screenshot... I'm now feeling extremely stupid. How exactly do you get a screenshot now? All I'm getting is a black screen from everything I'm trying.

We can't see what Riga has until Brave New World is released sadly. You're right though, Venice is Greco-Roman. Can anyone check artstyle from sight?

A question, was Venice included in any Civilization game so far?
I remember reading somewhere that the Devs said they wish to add new civs newer to the series

Like Brazil and Poland

There are more cs that have Venice color too ya know..... Stop posting misinformation.

Venice is the only Cyan-Maritime civ. This is not misinformation, although it seems I did misidentify middle-cyan as cyan, and I entirely apologize for this.

Actualyl, just check the BNW screenshot thread, one of the pic shows Hussars "planning to attack" Riga clearly.

Also, just Press the F12, the screenshot copies to your disk which is accessed when you exit the game.

It's not the colour that we're basing our theories on, but also on the type of the civ, Riga is a Maritime CS, so is Venice and Ragusa.

Neither Venice nor Italy have been added, either would be new.

Italy nor Venice has been in any Civ game. Frankly, though, given that we're having more civs than any civ game past, there's bound to be plenty of new civs. The only two old civs that had a good chance of making it back were the Portuguese and the Zulus, everyone else was up for grabs, so far as I know.

I would say that Ragusa being removed as a city state (assuming we are talking about the Dalmatian Ragusa rather than Venetian Ragusa) would point more strongly towards Venetian Civ than Venice being removed - in which case Italy, Venice or Northern Italy (Lombardian League) civs are each equally likely.

Do you know the directly, I appear to be having problems with this.
