IOTXII - The Happening

Premises: The Happening occurred on the 26th of May 2013. Everything unfolded as Dr. Ron Paul said it would. Governments collapsed, nukes went off and it was too late. Remove Kebab. The year is 2050 and you must rebuild out of the ashes of the happening. As the game goes on more details on the happening will surface...A major conspiracy shall unfold.

Joining: To join this wonderful IOT one must claim 5 provinces on the map below, state the name of the nation, government, leader, national goal/ideology and a flag (flag is a must). When joining please make a fitting nation, not a pony led radioactive monkey nation from the planet Neptune.

Expansion: This IOT contains several hundred provinces. Each province has its own unique statistic. Once everyone has claimed 5 provinces on the map and the game begins, each province is rather weak state or its anarchy. One can acquire new lands by two means: 1. Military invasion - Use armed forces to occupy and annex a province and 2. Economic subversion - Use monetary might to first of all install friendly government and then annex into own empire. Each method has its perks and its flaws. Military invasion is relatively cheap in the beginning and is a fast method of expanding while the NPCs are weak, but military invasions increase the overall revolt risk of your empire. Economic expansion is a bit more expensive but its relatively safer, also no added revolt risk for any annexed province. Each IC invested into a province will give you one RNG roll from 1-100. The number you get will be marked as influence in a particular nation. Once you reach 100 you can demand annexation, in that case a coin is flipped, if it is heads you annex it, otherwise you have to wait one more turn to demand annexation. The forces of the NPCs varies from province to province and are also randomly asserted.

Economy: The economic value of a country is a specific number calculated in IC. Each province is worth 1 IC. For 5 IC, you can build one factory, which is worth 1 IC. Everyone starts with 5 Factories. Factories do not count for supply until the turn after they're built.

TradeIt is assumed everyone trades with everyone else in the beginning. Otherwise, the first three pages would be "trade with everyone" spam. Trade income is the total of all IPs divided by 100. Embargoes lowers trade income, and complete blockades of core territory cuts trade.

Armies:There are armies, fleets, and wings. Armies cost 5 EP each, and fleets and wings cost 10 EP each.Armies are responsible for land combat. A fleet can carry one army or one air wing and engage in naval combat as well as blockades. An air wing can provide tactical assist, engage other air wings, and strategically bomb enemy factories. If they're on a fleet, they provide higher tactical assist than land-based wing assistance. Territories connected by land to your capital are considered Core Territories. When armies, fleets, and wings are built, they are, by default, in the Core Territories. If you claim land that is not connected by land to your capital, it is considered a Colonial Territory. You can have multiple Colonial Territories. Colonial Territories have no army defenders unless you ship troops between them using fleets. Air wings can move between colonial territories without a fleet. Finally, you can only have one army, wing, or fleet per factory. If you have no factories, you can still build one army.

WMD's: After the destruction caused during the happening all knowledge on these dreaded weapons was lost. To unleash the might of such weapons is a god like characteristic. Only one person knows the secret of the weapons. Dr. Ron Paul. He is hiding somewhere, somewhere close, he knows everything, you must find him before its too late, he will help you see the future, the future is so bright you wont need eyes to see it. You state a province name and invest IC to search him. you can only search your own provinces or ones that someone has allowed you to do so.

StabilityStability runs from 1-10 for each region (Core Territory and Colonial Territories), with 10 being incredibly stable and 1 being already in the throngs of popular revolution. Expanding too quickly, being blockaded, and other negative effects lower stability while economic expansion and military victories increases stability.
Each turn, there is a revolt roll. If a region fails the revolt roll, nearby regions are rerolled, and so on and so on. Keep stability up or else!
For 10% of your EP, you can increase stability by 1. Puppet NPCs need 20%.

The Conservative Theocracy of Harperland





Stephen Harper was a man with a God-given mission. Amidst the decay of Liberal legacy, he preached the gospel of free market conservatism that would raise Canada out of its squalor to stand astride the world as a paragon Christian nation. Unfortunately, despite winning a majority government in the 2011 federal election, the most holy Harper found himself under constant attack by the radical terrorist heretics of all the other parties. Duffygate threatened to stall his divine ascension at its critical juncture, but just as it seemed conservatism would once again be driven underground by the servants of Satan, It Happened. Despite the monumental suffering, the mighty Harper recognized God's mysterious intervention as a saving grace. Under the auspices of a "national state of emergency", he suspended the constitution and most valiantly wrested control of political functions from the corrupt and divisive Opposition. Finally, by 2016, the Conservative Party had ascended to its rightful place as not only the Natural Governing Party, but the only legitimate political actor in Canadian politics. At last, 149 years after its official founding, Canada was a unified nation.

But then, tragedy struck. The Devil's agents, unwilling to yield to the might of the LORD, conspired to bring down the most righteous Prime Minister, consolidating as illegal combatants to wage direct war against Canadian families. Harper led a valiant defence of traditional values, but the treacherous Québecois mutinied against the legitimate government, providing a safe haven for the nefarious terrorists. Supported by the usual unholy alliance of enviro-radicals and ********s, both home-grown and imports from that most contemptible den of socialism, the United Socialist States of Ameryca, the so-called "Official Opposition" cut a bloody and sacrilegious swath through the Maritimes before stampeding through Ontario, ruining years of steady job growth promoted by Canada's Economic Action Plan. But the LORD shone on the people of His Promised Land, the Prairies; the state of Palinia, rejecting the heathen Obama's betrayal of America, joined forces with the Harperites, and by 2020 the infidels were forced to concede to a stalemate.

With the opposition now safely excised from what remained of the nation, Harper set about on a righteous campaign to deliver God's promise of market liberalization and individualism to those firm disciples of the True Religion. As the Canadian Forces were carefully rebuilt, the citizenry recognized the infallibility of their most illustrious leader, conveying upon him the title of Presidemperor by national referendum on 30 April 2023. For the next four years, Harper's strong leadership reinforced the traditional values so deplorably neglected throughout the nation's history and returned it to the military prowess betrayed by decades of Liberal mismanagement. Then, on November 28, 2027, tragedy struck: God's most holy servant, Stephen Harper, was martyred when he choked to death on a Beaver Tail during a carnival in his honour. For the next three months, the nation grieved while the Tory Caucus scrambled to find a successor. At long last, Allan Manning, a descendent of Harper's own mentor, was inaugurated as Presidemperor on 17 February 2028. One day later, the nation was officially renamed the Conservative Theocracy of Harperland in honour of its greatest prophet.

Manning pledges to continue to shepherd the righteous through the challenges of the future by continuing the Economic Action Plan to promote jobs and growth, and defend society against the subversive influence of Liberal agents by championing the inspired word of William Aberhart, the first great prophet of the greatest country on Earth.

History:

In the year 1900 the United States of America unveiled their greatest achievement, The flying city of Columbia, to the world. Led and created by Zachary Hale Comstock Columbia is sent on a world tour to show the world the power of America. On the tour of the world, Columbia runs into the Boxer Rebellion. With American Lives at stake, Father Comstock orders that the city fire upon the Boxers to free the Americans. Revealing that Columbia is a giant flying battleship. Many Boxer's are killed in the attack and the United States orders Columbia to return to the United States.

Comstock instead declare's Columbia an independent nation and declared that the Old United States was a shadow of its former self and that Columbia was the true America. Columbia then went into hiding, and hasn't been seen for hundreds of years.

Mean while on Columbia a civil war broke out, between two factions the Vox Populi, fighting for equality, and The Founders, fighting for American Exceptionalism and Imperialism. The war waged for many years, taking many lives even Father Comstock's. Eventualy a truce was settled and a new government was created based on the government of the United States of America. The two factions ended up becoming the two political parties of Columbia, with The Founder's color being Blue, and the Vox Populi being red. The Founders have always won the election for the "Father" who stays in power until their death, and every one of them have taken the name of Zachary Hale Comstock after their election.

Colubmia stayed this way for may years, isolated and not making a move on the world stage, the world had forgotten about their presence.

However when "The Happening" occurred in 2013 Columbia sprang into action, completely unaffected by the devastation on the surface it was able to quickly take control of most of the New England Area, starting with the city of New York.

Cannons and Iron Patriots rained from the sky like thunder, the people of New York surrendered and joined the newly rediscovered flying city.

Now that Columbia has allied itself with the city of Rapture it is poised to become a global superpower much like the one that abandoned it a hundred and fifty years ago.

History:
In 1946, right after the end of the Second World War Andrew Ryan built a city, A city where the artist would not fear the censor; where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality; where the great would not be constrained by the small, a city called Rapture. This City was built underwater because "It was impossible to build it anywhere else."

Rapture was a Libertarian utopia, no restrictions on anything, the people could do what ever they wanted without fear of government control.

However, on December 31, 1958 a massive civil war broke out, as a man who called himself Atlas led an attack on Andrew Ryan as many of the citizens of Rapture had become addicted and biologically needed the substance ADAM to survive.

Ryan fought a hard conflict with him self, continue his Libertarian Utopia, or save it for later generations. When a force of Atlas' men and splicers overran a position of innocent civilians Ryan knew that if he didn't take control then Rapture would fall.

Ryan took complete control of Rapture, becoming the absolute dictator of the city. He ordered the Big Daddies to take care of the splicer problem and Atlas' men. Within months The Rapture Civil war ended and Ryan came out on top, however the power corrupted him, and ADAM became a controlled substance. The Big Daddies became Rapture's secret police and the people of the city live in a perpetual limbo of freedom and oppression, as Ryan has absolute control but allows the citizens to do what they want.

In the upcoming months a cure for ADAM dependency was created, ADAM once again became a major commodity in Rapture.

Rapture continued to be a secluded and fairly peaceful city, new technological advances continued to come out of the city as new Plasmids and uses for EVE came about, with the major change being in the Big Daddies, as their former job of protecting the little sisters were handed over to the Big Sisters, now the Big Daddies act as Raptures sole Police and Military force.

However this all changed in 2013, when "The Happening" occurred Rapture was let untouched by the Happening, but Ryan, who had been kept alive through ADAM and various Plasmids, saw that this was Rapture's opportunity to spread its ideals to the rest of humanity.

Within Months of "The Happening" specially equipped strike teams of Big Daddies invaded Greenland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands quickly overtaking any defenses there, with no government leading them they gladly joined Rapture as new territory to the new Libertarian Empire.

History of The Columbian-Rapture Alliance:
In the year 2030 after order was completely established in Columbia's new holdings Comstock III having prior knowledge of Rapture set out to find this legendary city much like his own. When he arrived he wasn't surprised to see a Utopia, what he was surprised to see was that this Utopia was nothing like his. However he along with Ryan had some weird feeling that the two cites were connected somehow and Comstock and Ryan came to the same conclusion, to better ward off enemies to their respective Utopias they must work together, and The Columbian-Rapture Alliance was born.

Ron Paul was right. On May 25th, 2013, Obama's Red Army marched through Washington D.C announcing the Union was dissolved and a new reign of tyrannical Islamic communism was to begin. Conservatives, Christians, and any who were seen as enemies to this new liberal regime were hung. It is said within one week the country had run out of rope. The same day Obama, in front of a large crowd, burned the constitution and announced he would be reigning as President-Caliph for life. A $1 Billion dollar price was put on Dr. Paul's head, who soon fled the country.

That was 47 years ago. Now, the ageing President-Caliph only holds a fraction of the land he once did. But he, and his generals, are eager to declare a new Jihad for all of Ameryca.
