Leo, I like the new Amecian UP and emigration mechanics.

And the Statue of Liberty are always among the most famous symbols of the Amecian dream.
Comparing to the vanila BTS, now it requires Public (my advice;)). This change can help human players to complete the American UHV. Meanwhile it fit the trueth.
However, the free specialist effect has been expanded to "all of your cities". I agree in DoC limiting the free specialist effect to one continent is not a good idea.

The redesign of emigration inspired me. It is possible to change the effect of SoL to "attract foreign SETTLED specialist to emigrate to your cities"? Those who lived in the most unhappy cities will imigrate. (As well as those settled in a conquered city?) I think this idea can fit what happened in real world. Also, it's effect can be limited to one continent again.

Would it be possible to make the Statue of Liberty buildable only in the Americas? It seems unrealistic that such a symbol for immigration/emigration would be buildable anywhere in the Old World.

If i not wrong the statue of liberty is built in Françe and send to USA like a gift..so the statue are in Françe UHV too..

Not to mention that there is another statue of liberty in Paris which is identical, but smaller.

Well, the Statue of Liberty became a symbol of immigration because it happened to be located in the city where most immigrants arrived. I doubt they all went to New York because it had a nice statue in its harbor.

I'm fine with the current effect and it requires Republic already.

And after the Globe Theatre was built in London no one was unhappy or did things like riot in 2011?

The Globe Theatre burnt down in 1613 and was only reconstructed in 1997 about 730 feet from the original sight but is no longer call the Globe Theatre. But more to the point, what has this got to do with anything? Yes there was a riot in London does this event which didn't even last a month mean that on the whole people in the UK are not happy. ummmmmmmmmm no. By these standards should there be an event that is triggered if in 2013 and if Boston is built the city is blow up all buildings in the city are destroyed and half the population.

On a completely different note, why is it that the member from New York does not even know the history behind the statue? Much like many of Americas national treasures it came from the 'Old World'. Some others include the Washington Monument (Egypt) and The Presidents desk (England). Just to name two.

Washington Monument (Egypt)

I wasn't aware we ripped a 555 foot tall obelisk out of the desert, hollowed it out, and shipped it over to Washington DC...

The Washington monument was certainly not from Egypt. It was built in America by Americans. I think what he meant is that Ancient Egyptians were the first to build obelisks.

It is a little known fact that putting annoying Hanoverians on your throne negates all happiness effects from buildings.

That's some way too miss the point...

Israel, Australia, Canada, Argentina? Maybe a condition non-American Civs can only build on another continent, which is pretty common?

I do know the history. It was built with an intent to give it to the US, though; frankly having it in the French UHV is silly. The French would not have built it except as a gift to celebrate American democracy, as that was always the point, and it was always intended for New York harbor even though the parts were cast in France.

Also, the Washington Monument was not built in Egypt. Why would you think that?

Actually a statue of liberty was originally planed for Paris when France was under the control of a Department of Public Safety. Which was headed by a man call Robespierre just after the French Revolution. However, it was never build because Robespierre was overthrown before it could be built. This was long before the one that now stands in New York city was even conceived.

The Washington Monument is modeled off an Obelisk. Hardly a design that was created by the USA.

The only 'modern' wonder that is in Doc that should not be able to be build by anyone else other then the USA is mount Rushmore. It is a testament to American engineering and really there is nothing in any other modern world country that compares to it.

The Statue of Liberty was conceived of by Edouard Rene de Laboulaye, who wasn't even born yet when Robespierre was in power. Stop backpedaling; you're just wrong.

The point of "only New World" is that the Statue of Liberty has a function--both as a symbol of immigration and a symbol of free democracy--that in the 18th century was unique to the New World. Not only the US; with Mexico added, and Brazil, Argentina and Peru on their way, they should conceivably be able to build it, too. But it never would have been built for an Old World power precisely because it was to symbolize the promise of a new domain freed of the confines of a lengthy oppressive history (which is of course a whitewashing of New World history but was widely held back then, and today).

And if a European country was running a free democracy after a monarchy (much like America is in real life, I might point out) a symbol like it could have also been built there. The Republic requirement is enough to represent this.

I'm with you on the whole anybody can build any wonder in the game, but this is the worst supporting argument ever. A lot of things are modeled after other things.

Yeah and I'm pretty sure they innitially built it for Egypth. So it really isn't as American as Americans like to believe.
