The newbies get a special monthly contest this month

Of course, everyone knows that most of the folks who seem new here aren't really new. They've been watching and appreciating, and often downloading stuff for awhile before they break down and join the site and post for the first time. Some of them have turned out to be pretty talented artists, and would enter the monthly contests, but for the fear that their early efforts will be swamped by the next great interface. ahem.

But never fear! Following some hearty nudging by Timerover, I have declared this month to be 'newbies' month for the monthly competitions. It will work like this:

For this month, if you have 1) never entered a unit or graphic into the contest before, you should indicate NEW ENTER on your entry post.

Then remember the regular rules:

2) all entries must be available in the database for download. 3) all entries must be posted before the first day of the next month. 4) all entries should be accompanied by a preview of reasonable size (usually, the size it appears in game, except for HUGE files, which can use thumbnails), the name of the creator, the name of the creation, and a link to a thread or download for that creation.

Then, one more thing, just for this month:

Entries indicated as NEW ENTER will be entered into the regular monthly contest and also into a separate contest just between the new artists. We're hoping that this will alleviate that 'first timer's' fear, and bring some new artists on line.

As always, if you need help here, there are no bad questions, if they're about civ modding.

As for you veterans, go ahead and post your stuff to the Competition thread as you always do this month. There will still be regular graphics and units contests.
