Hi guys. I don't know where else to put this, the Coliseum is the closest. Anyway, I'm kinda disappointed of their leader selection in Civ5 (Dido? Theodora? Wu Zetian? Maria I?? Really??) so, I'm going to make this thread.

Anyway, if I were to design Civ6, these would be the Civs.

So, as you noticed, the following are the greatest leaders of each Civ. Well, except for Victoria but I had to insert a female ruler and Victoria is at least top 5 of UK's greatest leaders.

Vanilla:
Rome - Augustus Caesar
Egypt - Ramesses
Macedon - Alexander
Ottoman - Ataturk
Arabia - Saladin
Persia - Darius
Mali - Mansa Musa
Ethiopia - Zara Yaqob
United Kingdom - Victoria
France - Napoleon
Spain - Philip II
Germany - Frederick
Russia - Peter
China - Qin Shi Huang
India - Asoka
Mongolia - Genghis Khan
Japan - Tokugawa
Khmer - Suryavarman II
America - George Washington
Aztec - Montezuma
Inca - Pachacuti

Expansion #1
Byzantine - Constantine
Maya - Pacal
Brazil - Dom Pedro II
Siam - Rama IV
Korea - Sejong
Zulu - Shaka
Iroqois - Hiawatha
Babylon - Nebuchadnezzar
Carthage - Hannibal

Expansion #2
Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh
Kongo - Afonso I
Hungary - Matthias Corvinus
Israel - Solomon
Hittites - Suppiluliuma
Apache - Geronimo
Gael - Brian Boru
Scandinavia - Ragnar Lodbrok
Greece - Pericles

This would probably go better in the Civ5 forums, just saying

Also some of your choices are bizarre, I am sure you'd get plenty of disagreement for quite a few of them

All the civs.

I'd include all of them. Every single last one. Ever.

I think you mean Kongo and Gael? Kongo is there for variety purposes. Kongo is there to represent Central Africa. That region hardly gets represented.
And Gael is to replace Celt since Civ6 has to be a bit different from its predecessors.

Need an Arctic civ to turn Tundra/Snow/Ice sites into something interesting. Perhaps a Trireme UU with a promotion for traversing Ice that would be interesting for exploration. Also something for boosting Tundra/Snow yields.

My list of 18 civs:
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland
Poland

That should finally get the "Poland in Civ" crowd to finally shut up.

Poland is already in Civ V. And one of the Achievements is to turn them into Space Poland.

Brazil - Dom Pedro II
Kongo - Afonso I

Brazil and Kongo ??? Are you kidding ???

Japan - Tokugawa

Wouldn't Korea be better?

It is more Ancient and was actually important outside of its own borders already before the 20th century, unlike Japan.

Siam - Rama IV
Khmer - Suryavarman II

Practically the same civilization - why twice the same ???

Apache - Geronimo

Not really. Something else from the same area would be better.

Gael - Brian Boru

So you must be Irish... :) ^^

Doesn't make sense to use Macedon in the vanilla, and Greece in the final expansion. Although i am somewhat guessing that the OP is thinking of an Alexander-led slavic-macedon anyway, which would make the suggestion rather more comedic than merely wrong :D

Vanilla:
America - FDR
Arabia: Mauwiyah I
Aztecs: Montezuma II
China: Qin Shi Huang
England: Elizabeth I
Egypt: Ramses II
France: Napoleon
Greece: Alexander
Germany: Bismarck
Holland: Willem von Oranje
Incas: Huayana Capac
India: Gandhi
Japan: Tokugawa
Mongolia: Temujin
Persia: Cyrus
Rome: Augustus
Russia: Catherine
Spain:Phillip V

Expansion 1#:
Apache: Geronimo
Babylon: Hammurabi
Byzantium: Justinian
Carthage: Hannibal
Ethiopia: Zara Yaqob
Ireland: Michael Collins
Maya: Pacal II
Portugal: Joao II

Expansion 2#:
Akkad: Sargon
Holy Rome: Charlemagne
Korea: Wang Kon
Ottomans: Suleiman
Scandinavia: Margaret I
Zululand: Shaka

Good list danjuno :)

My only change to the actual civs in that would be to have a more general culture-civ than a specific Ireland. Something like Celtic maybe.

Doesn't make sense to use Macedon in the vanilla, and Greece in the final expansion.

It doesn't make sense to split this into two different civilizations, first of all.

Call it Hellas and give it Alexander as ruler.

Portugal: Joao II

If you have Spain, you don't need Portugal.

Both were parts of the same empire (Habsburg Empire) during their respective golden ages.

Ireland: Michael Collins

Is everyone Irish here? Ah yeah, Irish-American. :)

Holy Rome: Charlemagne

Charlemagne is actually the Frankish Empire.

Maya: Pacal II

The Mayans were never united in one state.

I would include only one Mesoamerican civilization - all cultures there were similar to each other.

On the other hand, the Incas should be a separate civilization.

Akkad: Sargon

Basically Mesopotamian / Sumerian civilization, the Akkadian Empire was the first political entity of which.

Japan: Tokugawa

Should be in expansion not in Vanilla, it started to influence other parts of the world outside of its own borders relatively late.

:)

I don't agree about Spain and Portugal though. They both deserve to be in the Civ game, at least in the final version of it (Spain most of the time appears in the vanilla, Portugal later on).

I would not be in favor of calling the Greek civ "Hellas" in the Civ games, since:

1) Most Civ players use the term Greece more, it would seem, particularly those of a young age

2) Hellas means the same in Greek. The term is pre-hellenistic anyway, it appears already in Homer, and it also appears in many epigrams of the classical era, such as the famous one about the battle of Marathon ("Fighting at the forefront of the Hellenes, the Athenians at Marathon diminished the powers of the gold-bareing Medes") (Ελλήνων προμαχούντες, Αθηναίοι Μαραθώνι, Χρυσοφόρων Μήδων εστόρεσαν δύναμιν).

I don't agree about Spain and Portugal though.

You guys want to include "Scandinavia" as one civ, so Spain and Portugal should also be one civ.

Spain and Portugal were parts of the same empire during much of the most important part of their history.

In my opinion Portugal should not be included as a separate civ.

2) Hellas means the same in Greek.

Yes, but Hellenic civilization is not only Greece itself. So the name Hellas is better.
