I just had a weird idea that might help rebuild Civ 4 S & T into its state of former glory.

Basically, it would be an AI commentary for DoC, a la CFCoaster's excellent Interesting Times AAR. However, everyone would pick a living nation, and RP their people and explain their actions. It would create a whole rewritten history of the world.

One of the interesting things about this is that you can start playing at any time; just post on this thread and you will be allowed to post after the beginning of the next update. Also, if your civ dies or you want to change your civ, post in this thread, and you can start RPing with the new civ after the beginning of the next update.

The actual story thread is here. However, don't post there except for updates. This thread is the place where you post all non-update things.

List of Civs (Ancient/Early Classical):
Egypt: strijder20
Babylon:
China: Yagon99
Greece: baseballpie
India:
Phoenicia:
Persia: kinkaz
Rome: GreekAnalyzer/constantinople?
Tamils: Moai Spammer
Ethiopia:
Korea:
Mayans: sataa3a
Byzantium:
Japan: ChineseWarlord
Vikings:
Arabia: constantinople

I'm interested. Sounds pretty fun. :D

Every few days, I would provide an update and describe what happened, then you guys would write out the reasoning behind the AI's action/give background on the empire"a people. You can write history-textbook style or narrative style, though I'm still thinking about whether to allow comedy writing.

Sounds awesome! Don't think I've ever had a story based off of one of mine before! :D I'm certainly interested, but I'm not sure if I'll actually be able to take part in this.

Look like a good idea, and if put in pratice will be great:D

Now that a few people have shown interest, we can start civ sign-ups.

At the moment, you are only allowed to pick Ancient and Early Classical Civs (ie no later than Persia or Rome). Also, I will have to WB out either Egypt or Babylon to Antarctica so I can actually play the game, so you also have to vote on which civ you don't want.

*Jumps in to steal the first civilization*

As I won't have much time, probably, I'll choose Egypt.

Try playing as the Celts with the Chipotle cheatcode? I suppose they are still in and prevented from collapse. If you are going to play any other civilization, you will collapse and therefore die (new addition) by stalled economic growth. However, that might lead to issues with Celts spawns in Gaul, so you could start out as the Seljuks, build a Celtic city in Antartica by 1000 AD, switch to the Celts and delete your old Seljuk capital.

In your Civilization config-file (check where you installed it), change

; Move along
CheatCode = 0

to

; Move along
CheatCode = chipotle

That's what I was thinking about doing as well. I don't have the SVN, though.

Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery interesting. I love the idea, I'm just not sure my schedule would allow it. When is this going to start?

I am going to play the first 100 or so turns and post out the first few updates sometime next week, then there will be a long RP period for 2 weeks where I will be gone without Internet. Alternatively, I might just play the whole thing and start the RPing after I get back from my other commitment.

Sorry to double-post, but this is also going into the OP. One of the interesting things about this is that you can start playing at any time; just PM me or post on the thread and you will be allowed to post after the beginning of the next update. Also, if your civ dies or you want to change your civ, PM me or post in the thread, and you can start RPing with the new civ after the beginning of the next update.

I'm thinking about Persia at the moment, but I'll have to think about it, as I may not have the time. Don't consider me signed up yet, think of me as a possibility.

That's what I was thinking about doing as well. I don't have the SVN, though.

Good, the new SVN stability is fun but it isn't quite tuned yet, and allows for some exploits (although the AI doesn't know them of course).

I don't mean to be rude, but we shouldn't decide civs until everyone has signed up. That way newcomers have a fair shot in choosing a civ.

I want China:king:

GLORIAE ROMAE! GLORIAE ROMAE! (For the Glory of Rome!)
My Legions shall slaughter all the Barbarians!
