We, the members of CFC...ah, hell, you've gotten sick of seeing this, haven't you? I know what you're thinking: another one of the damned things? My deepest apologies for any inconvenience and/or exasperation this may cause you, but please bear with me here.

We, the members of CFC:
-Recognize that the current layout of the Other Games is based on outdated forum traffic statistics,
-Percieve that the current layout of Other Games reduces the visibility of popular subforums hidden deep within the layout, such as Mafia/NOTW, Imperium Offtopicum, and Forum Games, and
-Attribute a decline in traffic in said forums to the inefficiency of the current layout.

And therefore humbly and respectfully request the administration and moderating staff of Civilization Fanatics Forums to reorganize the Other Games forum in such a manner that:
-Moves high-traffic subforums within All Other Games, namely Mafia/NOTW, Imperium Offtopicum, and Forum Games, to become subforums of Other Games, therefore increasing the aforementioned forums' visibility, and
-Merges low-traffic and/or dead subforums, namely Galactic Civilizations II, Rise of Nations, Chess, Colonization, Call to Power, and Sid Meier's Railroads, with All Other Games proper.

Thank you for your time.

This is an incredibly good idea, why is it not happening right now?

Games like GCII and Call to Power largely have their own subforums because they're somewhat related to Civilization. GCII, Rise of Nations, and Chess should probably at least be an AOG subforum, though.

And yes, Forum Games, Mafia, and IOT should be direct Other Games subforums rather than part of All Other Games. Why exactly does NES get that treatment and not those three? All 4 of them are about equally active.

Yeah, I'm not sure why NES has always gotten such preferential treatment.

Tangentially related: the mafia/NOTW section has brought dozens of new CFC members from other sites.

Like me. I am one of those people.

If there is a way to send the Spore forum to oblivion.

IIRC back about 2007-8 the NES forum wrote a very effective position paper to TF requesting its current position and formal distinction from its history as part of the Civ 3 forums. It was well written and included a range of material that included editorial, trends and posting stats. TF was apparently moved enough to make the changes.

I think that today there is so much clamor for change that trying to keep up with all the requests simply reduces much of it to noise. Much of it seems like a hodge podge of confusion.

I agree with SK's proposal.

SK, you should have made the poll public. :p But I vote yes regardless.

This reorganisation may help CFC in the long run by providing a grand choice for people wishing to join CFC to join games, in a way that allows the choice to be clearly open.

I wholeheartedly endorse all points except the final one, for the reasons stated by choxorn.

Yeah this. Having 5+ -year-old games that few to nobody plays anymore doesn't reflect well on how well-maintained these boards would appear to prospective newcomers.

I like how this has a large amount of support, and the only mod to publicly acknowledge this thread was Bird.

This is probably why (from a thread on whether or not mods pay attention to polls):

I have not chimed in because I'm more interested in reading what people are thinking, not wishing to influence the discussion either way.

Wow peter, thanks for making me feel terrible.

For the record, I think this is a great idea, and there is no reason NESing should get preferential treatment. :)
