Greetings, Immortals and would-be Immortals (and indeed any other players of any level), and welcome to the Immortal University.

Here is our Leader:

Here's the opening scene:

The following settings were used to create this map:

And the Demographics for people to spot any info they can:

Before we start, here's the copy & paste bit where I get to pretend that I'm TMIT:

To play, just extract the WB save file into your worldbuilder saves directory, then play it. Use custom scenario if you want some extra settings to tickle your fancy. This series was designed for people learning immortal, so most people here will be at that level or trying to attain it, although deity players are welcome also. Hell, if you want to play this on NOBLE. The intention of this and any other game thread I post is to get better. Play whatever level you need in order to improve.

If you are aspiring IMM+, try to remember to add archery back to the barbs in WB. Every time you don't, a deity AI will kill a kitten, although there are a lot of kittens so it's not the end of the world if you prefer easymode barbs.

I do request people to list their difficulty and speed. In terms of updates, well nobody follows that anyway. Post in the manner you feel comfortable. Typical comparison dates are 1 AD, liberalism, and victory/defeat, as well as any major events. If in doubt, go with that.

We also have an initial Immortal/Normal autosave which is much more convenient since you can avoid all the worldbuilder shenanigans. It comes with my personal seal of approval (not least as my worldbuilder edits may contain hideous game-destroying errors that could cause your computer to explode).

I hope it works!

There's no need to read further cause it might contain spoilery info you'd have more fun playing not knowing - you can read it after you finish your game.

There's standard number of AI's in the game, I just made sure there's one specific civ here:

Minor edits have been made:
Spoiler Edits :
Spoiler Last Warning! :
Unreachable Fishes have been moved so they can be in BFC of some future city.
Spoiler And... :
Spoiler No really, stop here! :
Couple of food resources switched places.
Have fun! :)

Nope. Game was created on Noble with huts & events on (NC guide), so I've put that opening screen up. IU 100 Boudica Immortal BC-4000.CivBeyondSwordSave is NHNE.

Screen replaced.

EDIT: And the Demographic screen was from Noble save as well. Fixed that too. Thanks Gumbolt!

Nooo!! I haven't finished Gandhi NC yet!! So much to play!! ;)! No, seriously thanks for hosting the game Dubioza!

I think I will play the Immortal save using Buffy.

Settle on the PH wine. Then decide which tech to go after.

I think I will build the SH and then use the GP's to bulb Theo and the second to part bulb CS.

I think getting a religion will be asking for trouble...so first tech may be a religion tech.

Minor note. Settling on PH wine doesn't achieve faster worker. SIP let you work forest deer instantly and gives you a 12t worker from the go. Not sure if the extra commerce/defense is worth settling off coast.

Now that's a kind of start I like - lots of hills! Of course, more food would be nice, but nevertheless, let's give a try. I'll not move further away from the only visible food resource so basically, I'll just SiP. Who knows what the coastal tiles would reveal.

I'll play as well. :)

I didn't realize JeanBaptiste's assertion about 12T worker, so I went for 2-2-2 city.

Before I start, I have to apologize.
Spoiler :
It's about map edits, so please feel free to ignore it.
Spoiler :
I should've relocate scout to reveal 2nd food resource nearby, since I replaced...
Spoiler :
AH resource from that naked PH tile seen in opening screen for Agri resource which I placed next to the river.
Really, I'm so sorry.
Lesson learned. No more edits.

Immortal, NHNE, normal save.

2400 BC
Spoiler :
As I mentioned, I settled Wine hill and revealed agri resource in BFC. Worker first, teched Agri - Mining - BW. Kinda straight forward start, worker - growth to size 3 on warriors - settler, while worker improved best food resource, then deer, then mine. T31 settler and BW finished, so I switched to Slavery with settler on his way and turn later settled 2nd city. I know, resources in 1st ring. I wanted shared corn and with this many hills it felt wrong to kill the grassland.

Scouting is good, land interesting. I've met 4 AI's (on turns 8, 20, 36 & 37). And I created the dot-map. Well, dot-map possibilities - I don't know which way to go.

W, SW I guess it can't be settled right away cause I don't have necessary worker techs, but it'll most likely look like this:
Spoiler W, SW - 3 Cities :
wsob.jpg
Spoiler W, SW - 4 Cities :
k3c3.jpg
E, NE...well I like to plan it like this: since I see Ottoman's capitol I assume one of his settles will be crab (on ice) just north of his capitol and I work from there. Best 2 spots would then be coastal ones (unless there's something in the shadows down south):
Spoiler Working from Ottoman empire :
ffhp.jpg
That means I can't settle PH and really have 2 options:
Spoiler E, NE - 1 City :
4yuo.jpg
Spoiler E, NE - 2 Cities :
z2uy.jpg
...in which 2nd option looks worse cause one city's only food is shared sheep. Just writing that helps, so I guess next city will be "E, NE - 1 City" option. Then to the silver. I still need AH & Fishing, so why am I researching Pottery now? Hmm...I guess that's OK, I'll get to that after Pottery. Granaries and maybe some cottages won't hurt.

@Dubioza

Spoiler :
If you´re planning on grabbing those silver cities and blocking off Mehmed like I did
Spoiler :
expect to be in for an early DOW. I think it´s worth it though

2000 BC Immortal

Spoiler :
I teched AG-Mining-AH-TW-BW

I figured with all these forested hills we don't need any barb defense other then our 1 star warriors. ALso Production boost from BW won't do us much good with all this low commerce land, so AH has more priority for our 2nd and 3rd city spots to hook pigs and sheep up and build aidiotional workers on 6 yields tiles maybe. After that we can still chop some, but we really need pottery and writing so we don't have to much production which goes into maintance increasing units.

Obviously mined the wine so we have a nice 4 hammer 2 commerce tile, going with hte 4F2H deers and the wet corn

I'm going to give this a shot with the immortal save, although I usually play emperor. Could be a quick loss for me, but I like Boudicca.

@Dubioza @JeanBaptiste

Spoiler :
My game is going similarly, first and second city spots the same. With so much production and so little commerce I figured it has to be a Dom game, so decided to try for Pyramids in capital. This meant I had to settle your stone city third.

I didn't get it and maybe it was a mistake on my part. Basically I pre-chopped three or four forests whilst waiting for the the culture pop for the stone. Just as the stone was hooked up it was BIAFAL. Do you think I could have got it out if I hadn't dilly-dallied about waiting for the stone? Note I delayed starting it as well, figuring without the bonus my capital was better suited to getting out an extra worker and settler sooner rather than later.

I think if I reloaded and rushed it, I probably could have it got it, but it'd have meant a slower fourth settler, and certainly neglecting the second city and roading to city sites to an extent.

In my game, I get your NE silver city easily of course, but Mehmed settles on the river 2S of sheep relatively early. You must have to go very early to beat him to the sheep?

One other slight mistake in my game; my W city is in 1W of the pig, working all three resources. I don't know why I didn't split like you did; I've wasted a lot of coastal tiles, and rendered the GH south of river practically useless.
Spoiler :
Post-Alpha
Spoiler :
and there's Iron on them

I'm tempted to reload to fix that because it's so weak.

Also I think second option is better. You don't need the filler city sharing the sheep anytime soon, and the extra commerce from coast is handy, I think.

I gave this one a go.

Until 300 BC
Spoiler :

Did settle the wine and went standard agri-min-bw. Lost scout vs a bear so Didn't get to explore much at all. Took it slow with settlers and settled my 2nd city by the sheep/bronze. As there isn't much commerce anywhere I had to go towards the silver.I chopped down alot of forest to get out quite a few workers and settlers and settled 2 cities towards Mehemet. Not long after I did that the red fist of the ottomans showed up... So my expansion was going to consist of war and taking his cities. He wasn't in a great spot and only had like 5-6 cities so it shouldn't be that hard. No horses either. When he finally dowed me with his pathetic stack of 5 units I was waiting with 10 axes and crushed him right away. My tech rate was at 0% thanks to the war which meant I couldn't get to Aesth and trade for alpha. Rome got that rather early. But Mehmet didn't have it so I couldn't get it from him.
Wonders was out of the question and only egypt does and wonder building on the continent it seems. Also the only one who founded a religion. I really want to spank him but it seems he is behind Rome :/
Anyway, city after city fell(no wonders though) and the conquest gold got me Alpha from rome in a trade. So when Mehmet had 1 city left I took all his techs for peace.I now have 9 cities with room for unlimited more it seems. Problem is Rome is big and he will expand too. I can't do much expansion until I get col and curr though.
Will be a tricky one trying to make it peacefully from now on.

Until 680 AD

Spoiler :

Ugh, this one turned bad. Even after getting curr and col my tech rate was abysmal. Took a couple of barb cities to get a little gold but the 3 other civs are way ahead in tech. And it just irks me how Rome can put up junk city after junk city in the jungle with no workable tile far away from his capitol and pay no maintenance. I have room for 10 more but even with 13 cities I am not getting my tech rate going. I tried to be friendly with Rome and convert to judism only for him to build the shady paddy and go into free religion. And to make matters worse Capac just peace vassaled to a 16 city Rome. And Capac hates me... If Egypt do this same(which is likely as they love eachother for no reason) I am toast. Will be tricky getting my tech going and staying alive.

I started this but I have been more focused on other parts of the forum. I do intend to play on and I think I have found similar things to others.

Map does not look too bad. Diplomacy could be key if previous games are anything to go by.

I'm playing slowly, so I didn't yet experienced diplo issues.

1280 BC

Spoiler :
I went E, NE route and settled 3rd city in T48, on the turn HC completed S'Henge and turn after Mehmed completed TGW. Some more-then-usual barbs did appear, but I'm kinda fog-busting, with help of AI's units running around. :mischief:

T57 Ramesses got the Oracle. This time I'm taking my time with settles so I don't kill my economy. I think settles so far are good, lots of tiles swapping allows good city management, I can grow one while other doesn't need surplus food (settlers, workers, Granaries an'stuff) and just now I settled 4th city. 5 workers are making sure that all cities have enough tiles to work and that cities are connected before they're settled.
Spoiler Images :

Mehmed did settle his northern crab and I will try to beat him to other fish/silver spot. He has Sailing and we're connected to trade network, so I traded my deer for his crab - but since we're neighbors, if I'm closest to him and if I settle that fish/silver I guess we'll be in war before we'll get that diplo trading bonus. I hope not, cause barbs settled great city between me and AC.
Spoiler Image :
h1ey.jpg
I'm slowly building axes to visit them. That land looks better than my W, SW so I might settle sheep/stone and one somehow to get pig/horse. With Barracks & Dunes that shouldn't be too hard. Unless AC won't like that and cause of that both Mehmed & AC attack me...then I won't have diplo issues, I'll simply loose.

Until 1540 AD

Spoiler :

This is not a fast game :-). Well, got back in the tech race with a few trades, meeting the backwards civs on the other continent and from bulbing edu. Slowly expanded to 19 cities, not that many more than the others. Won lib late at 1070 AD and took nat only to loose out on Taj by 2 turns. (My own fault for trading it to Capac for some gold...)Thought I was going to attack with Cuirs but as always I chicked out and went for cavs instead. Inca broke free from Rome and started plotting on my for refusing to give him rp. Well, Capa is a wuss so I dowed Rome anyway with 20 cavs and smashed his stack on the 1st turn. In the middle of the war Capac stack came and I dowed him before he dowed me and got rid of his stack. Augustus had little interest in capping as he was closing in on rifling. I made peace with Capac to deal with him later and Rome capped after they lost the capitol. My next step is to attack Ramessess who has been wonderspamming the entire game. Haven't decided if I should give cities back to Rome or not.... After the continent is mine it will already be 1700 AD, but that matters little then i guess.
