Cultural Diversity

Tried finding some more:

Some basic scenes (It seems Plains ones are easy to find:

I tried to find some futuristic scenes for them (I didn't use Native American specifically when searching these, so some might not fit 100%)

Maybe modern or atomic? Not sure if it'll work as a splashscreen, but:

I'll try to get some more and some for Britain if you're still doing them tomorrow.

Music from the CD Soundtrack doesn't seem to play. Does that sound like a mod incompatibility, or just needing to update CD?

I'm having this problem too. I was playing as the Celts but only the standard music played. I disabled everything else to be sure.

Edit: I found the problem, but it's a really weird one. Apparently if I make any edits to the files, the soundtrack stops working.

Is there a way to add more music to cultures? If so, I would like to know.

Also: I dunno if this has been fixed because I noticed it a while ago, but the Roman embarkation graphics used cannons in the Classical era. It was confusing that they lost against my triremes, even with their superior firepower.

EDIT: Another question I forgot, is there a distinction between peace and war themes for CD music? I know there is for vanilla, but not sure about the mod.

Thank you! I'll look over these in good time. And I do still hope to do a English sub-group eventually, so anything you can contribute would be fantastic.

Probably you made a syntax error :p If you want, you can provide either your edit(s) or your Database log and I can help find the issue.

To existing cultures? Easiest way would be to propose them to me and I'll add them in the next Soundtrack update. I have a bunch of Celtic music to add, but because the Soundtrack update is so hefty, I'm waiting for a bit more. So anything you have, let me know.

Will take note and look into this! Thanks.

Yup, there is.

The TA split could look somthing like this:

Woodlands (free furs, but no trapping) (uses orenda/midewinwin icon from HR)

South East (needs better name) (Something to do with trade/Free caravan?/Free trade slot?) (IDK for icon/something like a mound?/Southern Cult icon from HR?)

Plains (gets regular bison bonus+ something else?) (Uses tipi as icon/Wakan Tanka icon from HR)

North East (free monument I think should be good) (needs better name) (Uses Sgaanaang icon from HR (Chinook/Haida religion))

South West (Free stone/Free stone works?/free pottery would be great, but it is taken) (needs better name) (I really don't know for this icon/some sort of pottery?)

As I said in my IA, there will be no new Culture groups, only sub-groups, and sub-groups have the same starting bonus and icon as their master group. The only distinction between sub-groups is in their soundtrack and splash screens.

This is the file I modified. I was adding in civs that didn't have support and changing the names of a couple that have since been renamed.

All right, so I think some of the Splash screens work for Britain already (Let me know if I accidentally counted one that doesn't or forgot one that did), so for ones that work, I'll try and find replacements for Western.

Classical (I wasn't sure if you'd prefer another forest picture or a picture of Roman Britain, so I found both):

I'll look into these, thanks! I grab some Red Alert and FF music for Totalitarian anyway.

Do you still plan to split Northern into Celtic and whatever the other one was, or was that scrapped?

The formal split was scrapped, but there still exists the subgrouping.

This is the file I modified. I was adding in civs that didn't have support and changing the names of a couple that have since been renamed.

Yup, you'd accidentally added an extra ' before the LEUGI_ISRAEL entry, which threw the file out. Here's the fixed copy. Also, could you tell me what civs you added support for/changed names? I can make these changes official in the next update.

It's no problem. Also, I had a few questions.

1. Are you looking to add more to the soundtrack? I was going to look for some to add some to a few groups to try and balance it out.
2. Related to above, do you need tracks for Britain?
3. I noticed the Papal states have their own splash screens, but they're in the civ itself. Do you plan on adding them to the core version of CulDiv? (Which would make Papal a sub-group, right)
4. How is Saharan coming along?
5. Do you still take event suggestions?

1. Certainly.
2. Yup, any and all.
3. Would probably be a good idea to move them there, since Innocent and Borgia.
4. It's not :p
5. For Mythical creatures, sure. Otherwise, I've got all the events I need.

Huh, I didn't realize Sahara was scrapped (I remember you mentioning you weren't adding any more groups and assumed Sahara was still in the clear). Oh well.
Btw, when I checked the Papal spashcreens, Industrial and Modern were the same. I can try and help with that later.

As for music,
Mesoamerican:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxNn4T2OwPs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfkiYpqHOH8 (This one is actually two songs. It splits around 3:40. Sounds ok, even if the images in the vid start getting...less about Aztecs?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BZ5Jm8pC_g (Not really a song, but still sounds like it could provide ambiance. Gotta edit out the applause at the end)

Britain (I don't know how you feel about vocal tracks, but I assume they're fine, seeing as Bantu, Southern, and even Japan have some):

Unfortunately you saved that as a text document instead of a sql so I can't directly download it to overwrite the file. The ones I added (excluding the ones I ported over from Anno Domini Are Chola, Oman and the ones I updated were Israel and Phoenicia.

I'll get some more in a bit.

A few more considerations for the soundtrack:

Anno 1404

Stronghold Crusader (The Islamic folder is almost empty, and if you put Sandal Maker in I will love you)

Red Orchestra 2 (low/normal morale versions of the songs fit well with the Totalitarian soundtrack, both German and Soviet sides)

Rising Storm

Company of Heroes 1/2 (Good Colonial/Eastern war tracks)

That one hour of music is a great source!

I Vow to Me is such a great song. That's Victoria's Theme however, so using the vocal version (fantastic as it is) probably is a no go.

And that orchestral version of Vow is literally Victoria's Theme :p

These wouldn't work in game, due to singing, but enjoyable as well:

Here are some actual suggestions :p

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M85QYuj1FOw
And that channel is actually a great source of music!

I'd like to forward this song for the Colonial type too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxkqIdcnp8o&list=FL2RoG0bMbB8eBLIKdQVmArA&index=2

Edit: So we need more music for these catagories
Spoiler :

1. Colonial
2. Britannia
3. Celtic
4. Germanic-Norse
5. Southern (just a bit)
