Ton of new info here courtesy of Germany:

http://www.gamersglobal.de/preview/civilization-beyond-earth

* Oceanic Alien units called Sea Dragon and Kraken.
* Miasma damages units by 10 points a turn and heals by 5 for adapted units.
* Explorers are used to dig (digs last five turns) four types of tiles: Progenitor Ruins (provide advanced technology or increase in affinity), Alien Skeleton (native unit or energy), crashed satellites (science boost or new resource location), not sure what the last one is (my German is rusty and basic so I am relying on Google translate a lot here, I have been told by two people it is an abandoned human settlement, and it gives pop boost or culture).
* Info on unit perk upgrades:
** Main infantry
*** Soldier (basic unit)
*** Marine (prerequisite: Level 1 in an affinity), +6 HP Perk: +20% Attack or +5 HP Healing
*** Brawler (Harmony 4), +16 HP perk: +40% defense against ranged or 20 damage against adjacent enemies on killing an enemy unit.
*** Sentinel (Purity 4), +16 HP perk: +30% defense, or + 10% Attack
*** Disciple (Supremacy 4), +16 HP perk: +20% combat alongside friends or +40% if not adjacent to friendly units
*** Marauder (Harmony 9), +30 HP perk: +40% combat in Miasma or movement increased by 1
*** Centurion (Purity 9), +30 HP perk: +1 movement or automatic healing every round
*** Apostle (Supremacy 9), +30 HP perk: +10 HP per adjoining friendly unit or +50% combat at flank attack
** Calvary upgrades:
*** Combat-Rover (basic unit)
*** Veteran Rover (stage 1 in affinity.), +10 HP perk: +30% combat the flanking OR +30% against mounted opponents
*** Viper (Harmony 5), +18 HP perk: +1 Line of Sight OR looting without moving penalty / +20 healing after looting
*** Lancer (Purity 5), +18 HP perk: +10% combat movement points OR +20% attack
*** Prophet (Supremacy 5), +18 HP perk: +30% against wounded opponents OR +40% if not adjacent to friendlies
*** Cobra (Harmony 9), +28 HP, +1 movement, floats, all terrain costs 1 rating. perk: +40% combat in Miasma OR weak extra ranged attack against melee
*** Dragoon (Purity 9 ), +28 HP, +1 movement, floats, all terrain costs 1 rating. perk: +1 Movement Point OR +50% combat against cities
*** Redeemer (Supremacy 9), +28 HP, +1 movement, Floats, All Terrain 1 rating. perk: 50% withdrawal chance against melee attack OR Ignore the Zone of Control
* Artillery units are mentioned.
* Missile rover is mentioned to be a separate unit type beside the regular Rover.
* Ranger Type infantry unit (assume this is the archer equivalent).
* Virtue bonuses: there are two types of synergy bonuses: one type (of which there are three per virtue, for a total of twelve) rewards you if you have a certain number of virtues have collected within the three ranks. The second type (of which there are six in total) is one of the virtues collected within a rank.
* New info on Stations: "The stations take only a hex, so do not have a sphere of influence or own troops. During the demo we found three versions: "Fort Miller" produced for us a Missile-Rover as soon as we set up a trade route to him, "McDonoug Labs" gives our starting city a +2 bonus on science and production, and the "Scyon Group "would have earned us a random technology as soon as we have it connected to our trading network. Each station will start at level 1 and can be increased with each new trade route twice, which increases the bonuses. So we have McDonoug Labs on the second rank at +3 science and +3 production. "
* Victory quest line information:
** There are four victory "main quests" that denote several steps necessary to achieve it. The first is called "transcendence". The aim here is to be one with the planet. To do this, the first step is to communicate with the planetary life , which requires two of the following three technologies Transgenics, Swarm intelligence and Nanorobotics. If you have researched this, one of the next necessary step is reported. Victory Condition 2 questline "Promised Land": As a brave Earth emigrants one wants to connect to the mother planet (again), includes the launch of a Lasercom satellites as the first step. In Quest series 3 ("Contact") is about to get in contact to the previously alien civilization on the new planet. There are three options in the first step: finding the corresponding signal when exploring ruins, build a Deep Space Telescope to build (an orbital unit) and to start researching technology "Transcendental Equation". The last quest line eventually called "Emancipation", the goal here is to return to Earth, and "freeing the inhabitants from their lower, non-enlightened existence." Here we go again with the building of a Lasercom satellites. You can try to track multiple victory conditions simultaneously, but you will have to decide eventually.

All-in-all quite a lot of new info, not going to list it all.

That's a lot of specific information! Great find, Karl.

All I could think of after skimming the unit list was that some Supremacists will be pissed their affinity's units are all named following a religious theme. Nice subversion by the devs there.

Supremacy is kinda meh, then Whoa Redeemer.

Yeah, I was surprised at the amount of specific information in the article.

Example of a quest: "a earth plant have spread to the wild, do you want to stop (no effect? Maybe gain a harmony point?) it or let it spread free (less miasma, global or local?) "

If you let the plant free you can then later choose if you want energy plants or food plants.

It least this is what by bad German reading skills thinks is says...

I think what he is saying is when planting Earth vegetation do you want to contain it to certain areas (which gains a Harmony point) or let it grow wild which reduces Miasma.

60 Virtues
4 basic categories (might, prosperity, knowledge, industry)*
3 'ranks'

5 virtues in a mini tech tree in each rank for each category

Sounds like a Grid : 4 columns, 3 rows

Bonuses
3 for each "Category" (for total virtues out of the 15 possible in each category/column)
2 for each Rank (for total virtues out of the 20 possible in a Rank)

Questions unanswered...
Do you have to fill up one rank before moving to the next?
Is there any degree of "equality v. freedom, unity v. diversity, change v. stability" in those choices?...anything that is mutually exclusive?

*we knew already

Orbital units MOVE in the Orbital layer

5 "explorable features" on the map
Pods- explorable by ANY unit
others require an explorer unit (like archaeologist)
Alien remains-Energy$ or alien unit
Ancient alien(progenitor) ruins-Tech or Affinity
Crashed Satellite-Science points or Strategic resource
Abandoned city-Culture or pop boost

Abandoned city-Culture or pop boost

So that was what the last one was, I assume by that they mean another attempted human colony on the planet.

I am assuming that when he lists +HP he means combat strength rather than hit points. You can see in the demo video that the Marine, for example, has +6 combat strength over the Soldier, not +6 hit points.

I agree, that would be in line with the marine units seen in the E3 Video, attacking the siege worm with 16 combat strength.

i spent 2 hours translating all the new info in the features thread and here Karl has done all the work too

I am truly sorry about that. If it is any consolation it took me more than two hours and I had to rely on Google translate in some places. :)

but you got everything right, from what i can see. I'm not mad at you, but more at myself for not coordinating, like posting an empty post where i announce the translation.

That might be a potshot at the sociologists that see many parallels between transhumanism and revelational religions. Like the promises of arcane knowlede and transcendence of body after ascencion. Also the singularity is often portrayed as some kind of rapture by many transhumanists. The devs joke is on transhumanists though ;-)

I think it's kind of a unique approach to have a religious fervor intertwined with transhumanism. They really believe uploading their minds is a religious experience.

They really believe uploading their minds is a religious experience.

I don't think they would define it als religious, or attribute mystic properties. Ist more a not completely rational belief that everything will be alright once the upload is possible. Many transhumanists seem to have extreme fear of death, thats also why most transhumanists believe the singularity will happen in their lifetime and do everything just to widen thier lifetime window, just in case (because it would be very annoying dying just few years before eternal life would be possible).

Glad that this shows that they really are going back to random events. Civ5-style quests for the stations will probably be in, too, but I'm glad the civ4-style random events are back.

Before see this : Plan to not buy BE..
When I saw Harmony 9 , Supremacy 9 : OMG I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED TO GET THIS!
Probably that the devs plan to show only 1-4 forms but in real game you can have...9 forms?
Maybe the devs should tell us that there will not be 4 forms. I guess they keep lots of secrets out there.

It's not the number of upgrades, it's the Affinity level needed for that upgrade. You need level 4 in your Affinity to get the level 3 infantry upgrade, and you need level 9 in your Affinity to get the level 4 infantry upgrade, etc.
