I had a great time writing the story of the Armenians of Erkir D'Kner before and am back to write up the Egyptians of Kumat.
In 4000 BC, Kumat is a small settlement amid the southern hills of Kumat, a cool land with mixed forests, plains, and scrubland.
The early years of our tale of Kumat are quiet. Early Old Kingdom Militia patrols of the lands to the north of Kumat reveal little of interest, just wide expanses of plains and tundra and the occasional usable resource like crabs or deer. While the hunter-gatherers of the arctic occasionally enter Kumat with raiding parties of bowmen or primitive warriors, there are no other civilizations to speak of. However, Egyptian myth holds that there are lands across the seas where exotic peoples live, and so the leaders hope to some day be able to cross the oceans.
As the only civilized people they know, the Egyptians are able to take their time filling their continent. They find valuable resources of stone, gold, and copper near Thebes and exploit them to build great wonders like the Moai Statues and the Mausoleum of Mausollos:
By 872 BC, the Egyptians have just entered the classical era and have finally established a far arctic outpost in Heliopolis, where they plan to exploit the deer and horses they have found there.
That's it for now... the Egyptians will continue the very hard job of building an economy in forbidding Kumat until they can build ocean-going ships. Until next time!
