I'M FINALLY BACK IN THE FORUMS!! That retirement couldn't last for longer, could it? So at last I got an idea for an AAR to succeed my second AAR ever.

Unlike The Greatest Jihad I, I won't focus on Europe this time. I'm going to focus on conquering Asia instead. So for those waiting for my return, here is your reward.

Be warned though, the text might be hard to read. This is because I moved to Picasa Web so my images will last forever unlike in Imgur. And Google doesn't have much patience towards someone who just soaks up their servers. However, if I post pictures of less than 900x900, they don't count towards the 15 GB limit. So yeah, you will have to struggle a little bit when reading, but at least the pictures will live on forever unless a nuke hits the servers or something like that.

Chapter 1: Fall of Byzantium II

Civ4ScreenShot1330.JPG

The Arabs have been unified under Muhammad. Under his successors, the caliphs, however, will the Arabs prosper in a hard world and rule an important part of it.

Civ4ScreenShot1331.JPG

With the founding of Makkah, Islam has been oficially set up as a power in this world.

Civ4ScreenShot1332.JPG

Spoiler :
Dear god that Justinian's face. And I swear that shot was unintentional.

The Arabs met their first victim, AKA the Byzantine Empire. Immediatily after they have met, the Arabs declared war on the Byzantines.

Civ4ScreenShot1333.JPG

The Arabs rapidly sweep through the poor Byzantine militia.

Civ4ScreenShot1334.JPG

The southern cities of the Byzantine Empire cower in fear at this theat so before they suffer, they switch their alleigance to the Abbasids, the successors of the Rashidun.

Civ4ScreenShot1335.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1336.JPG

The cities of Anatolia and Greece, however, didn't join the arabs so easily and they decided to stay loyal to the Emperor. The caliph, therefore, attacked Anatolia with Ikonion being it's first victim.

Civ4ScreenShot1338.JPG

Eventually Trebizond falls as well, thus kicking the Byzantines out of the most essential parts of Anatolia.

Civ4ScreenShot1339.JPG

News have reached the caliph that the Byzantines retook Constantinopile from the Cumans. The mere fact that the Byzantines lost their most important city was an omen that signaled the eventual fall of the Byzantine Empire.

Civ4ScreenShot1340.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1341.JPG

The Masjid-al-Haram was renewed and it attracted even more pilgrims than the former Masjid-al-Haram. To profit even more, Makkah began building a minaret which would make Arabia look more profitable for pilgrims.

Civ4ScreenShot1342.JPG

Even after the return of the Byzantines to Constantinopile, they were still poorly prepared to what would come. An Arab scout found the Constantinopile barely defended for a proper invasion.

Civ4ScreenShot1343.JPG

This rapidly attracted the whole Arab army into invading what was known as the city among the cities.

Civ4ScreenShot1344.JPG

At last! Constantinopile has finally fallen to the Arabs! And with minimal loses! The city was islamized and the Emperor escaped to Athens in a desesperate attempt to continue the war against the Arabs. However, this will be more of a bold move than a sane decision.

Civ4ScreenShot1345.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1347.JPG

The Arabs encountered even more poorly defended cities, namely on Serbia this time around. It fell very rapidly but the Arabs suffered more loses compared to Constantinopile.

Civ4ScreenShot1348.JPG

A well-talented Arab general, inspired by the conquest of Belgrad, moved to Constantinopile to see if he could lead an army properly.

Civ4ScreenShot1349.JPG

A small Byzantine skirmish attempted to retake Belgrad. However, they were caught and they were defeated.

Civ4ScreenShot1351.JPG

In addition, the previously-mentioned general also found a suitable army to lead.

Civ4ScreenShot1353.JPG

Another skirmish, this time composed only of a few swordsmen, attempted to retake Belgrad. They were crushed and after that event, Athens also fell to the Arabs, thus destroying the remainders of the Byzantine Empire.

Civ4ScreenShot1354.JPG

He's back!

Very nice :D

subbed

subbed, I guess.

In the beginning, all was darkness
then moai thrust a large chili dog upon the world and said
let there be subs!
and there were subs

I thought you would focus on Asia :D

I thought you would focus on Asia :D

Yeah, but I want to pin down Byzantinum so they won't become an annoyance later on and also to prevent the Ottomans rape me so easily. In addition, the manpower that Byzantium can give me due to it's productivity could help me a lot later on.

also, half of byzantium was in asia :p

Chapter 2: The Seljuks

Civ4ScreenShot1355.JPG

Rumors that the Egyptians would eventually try to strike away from Arabia forced the Caliph to divert some troops from Anatolia, which was strangely consolidated despite they have been only conquered less than a century ago. They rallied in the surroundings of Jerusalem.

Civ4ScreenShot1356.JPG

A huge minaret has been built on Makkah, one of the biggest and mightiest in the world. The minaret was a sign of piety to Allah and thus it gave a sense of glory to the Hajj. This glory allowed the caliphate to become very prosperous due to the increasing Hajjs.

Civ4ScreenShot1357.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1358.JPG

In order to improve the military for further wars against the infidels, stable masters have proposed the Caliph to build stables across the whole Caliphate. Immediatily the camel archer recruitemetns stopped and soon enough, stables for military pruposes were built all over the caliphate.

Civ4ScreenShot1359.JPG

News reached to the caliph that muslim Turkic tribes overran the Sassanid Empire, establishing Islam as the dominant force in the region.

Civ4ScreenShot1360.JPG

It didn't took long for the Seljuks to aim directly at Arabia. When they did, though, Arabia was under serious danger, specially because the Seljuks have mananged to set up armies in the poorly-defended Anatolia.

Civ4ScreenShot1361.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1362.JPG

The Seljuks, however, underestimated the numbers of the Arabs and thus they were overwhelmed as quickly as they arrived in Anatolia. The Arabs practically didn't lose a city to this menance.

Civ4ScreenShot1363.JPG

In addition, another talented general offered his services to the caliph.

Civ4ScreenShot1364.JPG

The stables were rapidly built and the army couldn't be happier. Warriors from all over Greece reunited and rallied in barely-efficent horse archers.

Civ4ScreenShot1366.JPG

A massive Seljuk army was spotted near Baghdad. The caliph sent all the camel archers in Baghdad and they rapidly defeated the Seljuks.

Civ4ScreenShot1367.JPG

The move by the Seljuk sultan left Iran practically vulnerable to Arab attacks.

Civ4ScreenShot1368.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1370.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1371.JPG

Despite the best efforts of the Seljuk sultan to put up a fight against the Arabs, the Seljuks were driven out of Persia for good.

Wow, the time's passing quickly!

Wow that was fast

Sorry guys for not posting. I have been updating my CKII AAR and I have been reading the Gathas (so yeah, I'm an actual Zoroastrian now, no longer a wannabe like the last 10 months), so have an update.

Chapter 3: Constantinopile Qustantiniyah not Istambul

Civ4ScreenShot1374.JPG

After the Arabs have finished the Seljuks, they began building catapults, for they felt that eventually the enemies of Arabia would attempt to destroy them with overwhelming numbers.

Civ4ScreenShot1375.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1376.JPG

Civ4ScreenShot1377.JPG

A Chinese ambassador arrived in Makkah. The Chinese, unlike the other nations that the Arabs met, were strangely tolerant of their new religion. The Chinese give their maps in exchange for gold.

Civ4ScreenShot1378.JPG

The Mongols demanded the Arabs the city of Merv (yeah, I forgot to add the image of the capture of Merv in Chapter II). Since the Arabs don't want to get into any wars, they accepted to give the city of Merv, but they promised they would be back.

Civ4ScreenShot1380.JPG

As we have seen in the previous images, the Germans rallied some knights and attempted to recapture Constantinopile. However, the Arabs rallied far more camel archers. One flank of the Arabs far outnumbered the petty Crusader army.

Civ4ScreenShot1381.JPG

In addition, the Arabs have also met the Mughals. The Arabs soon had friendly relations with the Mughals, for now at least.

Civ4ScreenShot1382.JPG

The Arabs finally stroke at the main meeting point of the Crusaders, the city of Budapest. However, the troops had to relocate for a far more superior threat.

Civ4ScreenShot1383.JPG

Despite the Seljuk Turks have been defeated by the Arabs, this did not mean that the Turks themselves would stop being a threat. For years now, the Turks have been plotting to strike back to the Arabs. They felt that the Arabs were too decadent. Now, around 1280, they rallied a very powerful army nearby Constantinopile, armed with gunpowder and with numbers that shadowed all other armies that the Arabs fought. The first order of the Caliph regarding this threat was simple: Flatten them away with heavy catapult fire.

Civ4ScreenShot1384.JPG

Many catapults were lost during those glorious days, but eventually the Turks were weakened enough for the Arabs. The Arabs now could strike with most of their army.

Civ4ScreenShot1385.JPG

During the battle, a very experienced general from Arabia was born. As we can see from the image, the arabs destroyed most of the Turkish army.

Civ4ScreenShot1386.JPG

Unfortunately, during the battle the Germans attempted to retake Budapest and the Arab loses were heavy.

Civ4ScreenShot1387.JPG

The years that followed the great battle were the years in which the remainders of the Ottoman army were completely obliterated.

Civ4ScreenShot1388.JPG

Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of the Turkish menance. They still believed they could fight the Arabs and demanded that the Arabs hand over Anatolia, plus the whole of Constantinopile and Athens. The Arabs mocked the Turkish emissary and refused to hand over those areas.

Civ4ScreenShot1390.JPG

Spoiler :
Yeah, I was just waiting for the right amount of money to come into my treasury before upgrading those horse archers.

In response, the Turks somehow mananged to make much of the Arab army defect to them. The Turks reunited their army in the Armenian highlands, close to Trebizond. Trebizond was not ready to fight the Turkish army.

Civ4ScreenShot1391.JPG

Trebizond fell quickly to the Turkish armies, who proclaimed a Caliphate of their own.

Civ4ScreenShot1392.JPG

Fortunately, the Arabs recovered most of the strength they used to fight the original Ottoman army and they reconquered Trebizond.

Civ4ScreenShot1393.JPG

The Turks continued to threaten the Arabs and rallied some Arab horse archers and workers. They would continue to gather some men for future attacks.

Civ4ScreenShot1394.JPG

A plague hit Europe and much of Christendom was devastated. It had little effect on the Arab Caliphate. Some even said that it was Allah's wrath that predicted that Europe would fall soon.

Civ4ScreenShot1396.JPG

Unfortunately, contrary to Arab hopes, the Turks continued to be a threat and they rallied a big army to fight the Arabs.

Civ4ScreenShot1398.JPG

Some Turkish armies boldly rallied within Arab territory. Despite it was a very small army, they were rapidly defeated.

Civ4ScreenShot1399.JPG

The Khan demanded tribute from the Arabs. The Arabs did not want to fight two wars at once, so they had no choice but to accept.

Civ4ScreenShot1400.JPG

Korean explorers have met the Arab civilization during this dark period and were also somewhat tolerant to the Arabs.

Civ4ScreenShot1401.JPG

Soon after the defections were over, the Arabs struck the Turks with a powerful army. The Turks were effectively destroyed, with only a few workers surviving to the north.

Civ4ScreenShot1402.JPG

The Cordobese had troubles with their city of Benghazi because it was barely populated by Muslims, so they handed it over to the Arabs.
