Well, seeing that Interesting Times is officially wrapped up, I felt like it was time to get into a new story (Well, I have two other stories at the moment, but they are on hold for the foreseeable future). Although I got a bit bored with IT towards the end, I still like the concept, but I think it's time for a change of pace. I've really been wanting to make a novel lately, but my only serious real-world attempt fizzled out after writing around 50 pages, no where near the finish.

Therefore, I came up with a new story. I'll once again be tracking the world's progress as before, but rather than a sweeping account of world history, it will track one (immortal) man's progress through the world, as he discovers more about the world, one town at a time.

A couple of rules (basically, if one of my updates violates one of these, please tell me so I can fix it :p):
- The protagonist can only use a tech or a new weapon if I have told how he got it in the narrative. For example, if I switch his character so that he becomes a rifleman, I must narrate how he acquired the rifle in the first place. If he gets on a boat to go to a new continent, I must tell how he got it, etc.
- I must also be consistent with the story, at least as consistent as it can be considering that it's from one man's perspective. If something happens that I previously stated was impossible for some reason, I need to find a way to justify the change. If such a justification seems weak, please tell me. In other words, he can't be a tank operator in a world full of spearmen unless I specifically told in the narrative how he (legitimately) got it in the first place(he'd probably lose anyway :spear:).
- If any of you can come up with any other rules for this (I can't think of any others, but that's probably because it's 3:30 am here :p), please ask. I'm open to suggestions.

Also, this will be in unmodded Civ4 BTS. Considered using a few mods here, but given my history with Civ4 mods and what I want to do for this story, I decided against it.

One last thing. This will be a huge game world with max AI civs and with AI leaders favoring war, but beyond that, I'm open to suggestions for what the world options should be. You can decide the type of map, the era I will start in, what "Civ" the protagonist will be, etc. I'll be starting soon, and this will likely be my main project for a while.

I'll be staring this very soon, so as always, stay tuned!

The guy should be Khmer so he can go on a Khmer Route :D (I'm sorry that is terrible) I like the idea! It's great! :D

You should do Continents, Ancient, Rome (because Rome is great. If you want Latin help ask me)

Where could I find some books on learning Latin? That's a language I've wanted to learn for quite some time.

I agree with Greek on all but civilization. My official request is Continents, Ancient, Byzantium.

Oh, two things I forgot to mention. One, the story will be in English (as I can only speak one other language even somewhat fluently - Spanish). If I do decide to have some other languages in here, I might as for your help, but I'm not planning on it yet. I have an idea for what to do with these other languages, but you'll have to wait to find out.

Two, you do realize the civilization I choose will not have any other representatives in the game, right? I'll WB another unit in some inaccessible location just in case he dies for some reason, but, for example, if I choose Rome, that civ will have no cities, no military, no territory, nothing. Think of it like Van Hohenheim from FMA if you want an example.

Just making sure you know that. There's a reason he's known as the Wanderer.

It'll change throughout the game, but I think I'll start with a scout. Of course, I'll explain how he got that hatchet in the first place.

I am really interested to see this one. Just some questions:

-We will only see what your character can see, right?
-What will happen if someone decides to declare war on you?
-If someone finds you and kills you, what happens?
-How exactly can you take a boat? You would have to buy it, right?

Hmmm...

- Yes, we're only seeing what the character sees. The only exception is if he/I get a world map from someone, which in-story will be like him finding a history book and map, or something like that.
- Like I said before, if someone attacks me and he dies, I'll have another unit in an inaccessible area so I don't instantly lose. Since he's supposed to be immortal, I'll WB him back in and come up with an explanation in-story. As for declaring war, I'm not sure how to deal with that just yet. We'll just have to see what I come up with if it happens. Maybe I'll have him be drafted into a friendly country's army? :)
- Indeed, he'd have to either buy the boat (say, for example, the first time I get fishing, if I'm on a coast, he'll get a free galley to simulate him learning to build one. Otherwise, he can buy a boat, buy a ticket, work on a warship in a friendly country, etc. Again, we'll see what exactly happens.

You can have it that the nation wants him gone, "declaring war" is like sending police to catch you. :D

I actually like that idea, CK. Maybe I'll do something similar to that if it comes down to it. Maybe he'll be forced to commit a crime (like stealing bread for his wife during time of famine) at some point, and him getting tossed out of the enemy's land can be explained by him fleeing the cops. I can't wait for what might happen. :D

You could make him an ultra mecha god with guns during the classical era because aliens

Alien facepalm :D

Speaking of aliens....

For quite a while, I've had this idea to make a story of RFC, starting in 600 AD. The only difference is that I will make one of the ancient civilizations incredibly advanced, an act almost like alien invaders, sending drones and cultists to invade and attack civilizations. And I want to just sit by and see how the rest of the world reacts to this alien invasion that starts in 600 A.D.

There are a few problems to this, based on my testing:

-Stability problems. I need to find a way to give this alien civilization infinite stability, otherwise it won't work.

-Behaviour problems. I want the alien civilization to be extremely aggressive and create nothing but military out of their alien bases situated in strange islands in the Pacific.

-Victory problems. I don't want the alien civilization to build the space thing and win a space victory.

If I can solve some of these problems, I might consider making this kind of story as a kind of side piece to my Democratic Caliphate one, since updates from that take a while to come, and currently Spirictum is on break, so I do not have the save game that he has.

You can probably manage to make an edited version of RFC where the AI is EXTREMELY aggressive and where there is no space race victory. I know you can do some python stuff to get the stability. I don't know where to do it or what to do but I know it's pretty easy.
