Hi Gazebo,
so is there gonna be a community interface mod?

As in Thalscicuss's Communitas Interface,
The upgrades for each units are shown above the icon so that we know how advanced AI's army are. In the Vanilla we cannot check how many and what kind of upgrades AI's units have.

But I find it incompatible with CPP.

Once someone familiar with the code decides to give in, I'll be happy to incorporate it. I never worked with the promotion code, and it is heavily enmeshed with the CEP.

I think this is a feature in Enhanced user interface, so just getting that to work would be better :D.
But I agree this is extremely annoying especially since barbs sometimes spawns with different movespeedbuffs and knowing where you're safe from them is impossible because of that.

On the EUI topic I can totally understand why that guy whoever it was stopped doing it, if every patch breaks it and G release on average one patch per week that is going to be a lot of updating.

I'm so dependent on EUI, I can no longer play a game of Civ without it (I know I'm not the only one either). I think ensuring compatibility should be priority, making a modmod of EUI to add additional things like unit promotions could always be done (I think).

I used to be like that but I evolved past it :D. In all honestly I love EUI and I hate playing without it, but just do it enough and you'll make it work.

Yeah I really miss that feature and if I had any lua skills at all I'd give the coding a go!

It is, unfortunately, not a EUI component (even though it has been suggested a number of times).

Oh, it isn't? Well in that case someone have to dismantle CEP and steal it :D
Preferably someone who has any idea what they are doing, someone who isn't me :D

I can make it work (especially with some of whoward's UI mods), but I always feel like I'm not playing as well as I would otherwise be. There are things I'm always aware of with EUI simply because they take next to no time to check, so it always bothers me if I'm not using it.

EUI does work with CPP - it's just a matter of removing the right files (meaning you won't get the "full package" but almost).

Yes, it does. It's not obviously apparent (took me a bit of trial and error) but it does work. I just meant that maintaining compatibility from here on out should be priority--a mod that doesn't play nice with EUI will deter a lot of players from trying it out.

Well, I think making a minimod worths a try because this is a really fun feature. And I think EUI needs Thal's code also to make things easier.

Oh, yes, this would be great! I think the promotions display is one of the most obvious UI fails in the base game.

I was experimenting with this great CEP feature in the past a bit, but could not make it work with CBP. If anyone wants to try to reverse-engineer it from CEP, there is a pre-alpha stand-alone version of this feature (which is probably not even working with base BNW), which might help you to disect the CEP UI part. You can download it in this thread:

All I got was promotions shown above some units IN fog of war - they sometimes kept them even if they got into my line of sight. Apparently the code wich is showing and hiding the units when they are within your sight or not is not working properly - one would expect it to be the same as the one for units and their unit icons. Thal says that the Firaxis code dealing with it is a mess somewhere in the above post.

The worst thing was that the unit panel (in the left bottom) went missing and so did the unit action buttons - I could still fortify, heal, etc. by pressing hot-keys.

I might give it another try, but probably not sooner than in about 2 weeks.

Just lost a settler to a barbarian that apparently had no movement penalty in sand. I didn't even know that was a thing. Granted I should have been protecting it anyway, but I figured it was safe and I'd found a city with it next turn. It would definitely be nice to be able to see what promotions these things have.

Yeah, that's probably the no. 1 use of the upgrade icons. I love the barbarians having promotions but in this case its vital to know which one they have (they could just as well have had a forest movement bonus).
