It was many centuries ago, when the traveler, Enghurfoldsarvengercarven, called by his friends Eng, stole borrowed three drakkars from the harbour of Goteborg, to find better lands to live, and also to escape from capital punishment.
So, he, and his small group of people sailed to find a better place to live. They first found what we today call "Denmark".
It was too cold. They didn't like it.
Next, they found what we call Scotland. Unfortunately the people of this place welcome them with strange istruments called bagpipe. Hearing that sound, Enghurfold...whatever, jumped on his boat and started to row like a mad man.
"DRAGONS! MONSTERS! FIREBREATHING PEOPLE! LET'S GO AWAY! NOW!!!"
He screamed in the silence of the ocean.
They finally arrived in a nice land, with a big river, and many space to build and live. From that day that became their home, and Eng called it in his honour, Eng-Land.

Yes, that means that after almost a year of jerking around i'm actually doing a story.

Subbed, can't wait to finally see a story of yours :D

The majority of the documents regarding Eng were lost during the centuries. The first document we have about him, is one written by a swedish judge, who copied many ancient Viking runes.
From this document we know that when Eng arrived to Eng-land, he was already ill, and he died only a week after the landing.
So, the elders had to meet, to choose who will be the new king.
There were only two candidates at the time:
Egbert
Spoiler :

Egbert was king of Wessex from 802 to 839. He managed to defend his kingdom from the Reign of Mercia, who was dominating almost all North England at the time.
Egbert wants to create a solid army to defend the kingdom especially against Nations from the continent. He also want to expand England mainly to the north.

Æthelwulf
Spoiler :

Æthelwulf was the King of Wessex from 839 to 858. He also was the King of Kent when he conquered it. He was a really religious king and he also started diplomatic relations with the Mediterranean nations.
He wants to focus on Religion instead of the Army, as he thinks that an attack from the continent is unlikely. He wants to send ships to explore the world, and possibly establish trade agreements with other countries.

Voting will end tomorrow at 9 PM Middle European Time (3 PM Eastern Time, 2PM Central Time, 5PM Brazil Time)

Egbert, since he's on Vikings.

Egbert: 6 votes
Æthelwulf: 1 vote

Egbert wins the election and will be the first official king of England.

The Kingdom of Egbert started already with a failure. He soon realized that England wasn't that big of an island as he thought, so he had to abandon his project of expanding mainly to North. He sent only one group of people to North; the others went instead one to West and one on the ships to reach that other island.

The first group (those sent to West), entered a tribal village while traveling. The villagers offered their services as explorers. They were said to get to London, and wait for further orders.
Spoiler :

Along with the group guided by Eng, there were also religious people from the places they visited. These Christian people saved from the cold of Denmark built a provisional church with what they had. With time passing, more and more people went to the churh regularly. After less than an year, the majority of the population was christian, and the king was embracing this new religion too. In a situation like this, where people start from nothing and have to fight against wild animals, cold, injuries and illnesses, faith in is the most important thing they need and they have. (Life lessons today with Manuss!)
Spoiler :

Three men went to the provisional church that day. They were asking for a blessing, because they were going outside london, in the wilderness. They wanted to build infrastructure, and buildings all around the country, but they feared the outside and the wild animals. The priest gave them the blessing and saw them exit the church, hoping to see them again.
Spoiler :

The second city of England was built! They called it Plymouth, even if they didn't know what is a ply, and if a ply actually have a mouth. I guess we'll never know.
Spoiler :

The second group of people finally reached the second island. They were guided by a man called Iresingdenfung, called from his friends, Ire. So they called that island, Ire-Land. They founded the city of Dublin, which was the name of his dog.
Spoiler :

When the natives arrived at London, the king was really happy. He sent those natives to a simple mission: explore the world, and meet other nations. The king realized that was Æthelwulf's program, but he didn't care. He gave them some diplomatic clothes to look better when signing diplomatic agreements. The explorers got in a Galley to reach the continent. It was difficult for the natives to enter a boat: they never saw one before, and they were scared. Fortunately the galley crew throw them into it kindly encouraged them to enter it.
Spoiler :

Unfortunately they landed in an area surrounded by territory of other nations. The first thing they did was talking to a Holy Roman Empire delegation to sign an open borders agreement. The exploration could continue.
Spoiler :

The third and last group of people reached their destination and founded Aberdeen. There isn't really a reason for this name. They just called it that way.
Spoiler :

The king died in 858. The kingdom rised from nothing in only a few decades. Now, England has expanded in all Britain (as the natives call it), and also in Ireland.
