Civilization 5 - Game of the Month Training Series Game 110
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\//////////////////////////////////////////

Welcome to the 110th game in the GOTM V Training Series! This Series will allow new and old GOTM fans to try out these features from Civ5's expansions and DLCs in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. You can read more about the GOTM and Training Series concept in this thread.

Must Read!
We would like to ask you to abide by our most sacred rule: Don’t replay any turns! If you make a mistake, accept it and try to recover. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to 1 turn. In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous save and play it as closely to how you played it the first time. Please let Leif or me know (either in the forums or through Private Message) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed.

Information about threads associated with each individual TSG -- Please Read if you are new to our Game of the Month!
Spoiler :
Please note: If you wish to make a video of your game, please do not post any links to it until after the game submission date has passed. This is because of the potential spoilers that are created by posting before the end date. Thank you for your cooperation.

TSG Announcement thread (this one): This thread is used to announce the game and clarify the settings and rules (don’t be afraid to ask questions). It’s also used to discuss the game before you start, and post problems with opening the save. Please don’t post any game-related info once you open and play the save. Instead use the next thread.

Opening Actions thread: This thread is used to discuss the game's opening decisions and strategies through the first 100 or so turns. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. We encourage players to use the spoiler tags for screenshot. During the time the game is active, please do not post any information concerning the game outside of the spoiler threads including screen shots, videos, or recorded/live-cast Let's Plays on other websites.

After Actions thread: In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss date (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Some players like to replay the game, and although we will not record the results from a replay, you can still post your new experiences. The game will not be closed as such, but after one month, the results will be compiled, and will not necessarily be updated with reports coming in after the finish date.

Results and Congratulations thread: We will create a separate thread with the results at the end of the one month submission period (sorted by date and score). We will issue medals to the top 3 winners (based on earliest date finished). There are no long-term records kept for these results, they are just given out to top finishers to reward their efforts.

File Upload System
We have a game file upload system you can find here. Please use it to upload your completed first attempt by saving the game on the turn after your victory or defeat. (by using the "lemme play one more turn" feature) Please note: you must submit your game on the turn following Victory. If you continue to play, the game overwrites the data and your submission could be rejected by the submission system.

This game runs for a month and ends June 15th, 2015.

The save will be available for download on May 15th, 2015, midnight Central Standard time (UTC -6:00) in the US.

The Save can be found here.

Quick note, voting has concluded in the Layout redesign thread and since there was only one 'No' vote we thought we'd try this layout on this one to see how it goes. Let us know with any feedback (or errors, haha) with this.

Thanks
HR

Is there a new game of the month game every 2 weeks? Last one only started 2 weeks ago, right? Also where can you see some sort of scoreboard of the results submitted? I have only done the last 2 (108 and 109). 109 I assume the results aren't up yet, but where can I see the 108 results?

There are 2 GotM each month. The one that start on the 1st is emperor level and higher. It runs until the 1st of the following month. The ones that begin on the 15th are King and lower leval, and run till the following 15th. The results are typically up with in a week after the closing date. So 108 hasnt closed, and probably wont have results until the 6th

Look first, but settle on the west copper. Extra tiles from UA might grab a 3F tile. Settle on Luxuries as much as feasible. Make heap big TC Army; spear, PF, c-bow, bow, maybe horseman or cat.

Raging barbs, my old nemisis, we meet again. I've cursed those barbarians since they took over almost my enitre game in an old civII save way back when I was a kid. I'll consider this to be my redemption.

I've never been good at domination, but a couple of pathfinders into goody huts to get bows should help out quite a bit. Since I failed TSG109, I hope I can do better this time.

Newbie here, I really enjoy playing pocatello, you can settle up and define your territory quickly even before being able to work basic tiles for tour capital.

If you choose pop as your first ruin, then you can switch to making a settler immediately. Thats why its nice to settle on the luxuries.

I always choose pop, unless faith is an option, that's for sure. Which one would you settle?

Prince difficulty and hopefully 2 CBs by T15 should make this a quick game

The thread title says this is 110, but the OP title says 108. It looks like another copy-paste error. ;-)

Moderator Action: Thank you, changed it. :)

I like this plan. Do we want a second city? It would likely just be a happiness drain ... maybe if there is a faith NW it is worth punching out a settler. The last similar one of these I played (Prince Dom Aztecs, GotM 92), I didn't fare so well.

*Double checks settings to see if there are ruins this time*. Well, no ruins with the Shoshone wouldn't be much fun.

How many Pathfinders should be queued up at the start? ;)

Yes, I think you want to create a rolling ICS with self fulfilling happiness. Taking tech from a ruin can be helpful here. A second pathfinder is desirable, perhaps the first build. But, I dont think you need to spam them. I'm assuming left side Honor here, but the barbs might hurt the human more than the AI because the two extra AI will fill spaces.

I went through a phase of this on immortal and even deity and if the steam roller gets going its lights out. My goal is 150 turns for this.

Im tempted to husbandry early in hopes of getting a grassland horse. The extra early production would help build pathfinder and grainery. Also CA shoot better and move faster than an archer. Depending on location 150 turns is a good goal. A bit more if we are on one side of the continent.
