With Atomic Gamer shut down, i am having trouble finding a free website to upload my Mod to so that it can be downloaded. Does anyone know of a website that works for large uploads? thanks.

The only problem with hosting server is that it might be shutdown like atomic gamer but if you upload here your mod will stay here until this forum will exist.

The problem is that some mods can have more than a 1 GB of content. It would take very long both to upload and download it.

Indeed, as a forum user I'm not going to download 50 separate files to download a mod. I'd consider 3 to be the maximum reasonable amount most of the time - main mod, latest patch, and perhaps latest BIQ. We don't need to go back to the bad old days when you'd download 14 ACE files to try someone's mod, and then have to stitch them back together.

Uploading split-up much-larger-than-20 MB files to the DB is also, IMO, abusing the downloads database (both because it's larger, and because your file will then have many more entries in the database just because you split it up, making it less convenient for others to find other mods when browsing).

Mega and Mediafire are decent suggestions; I've used the latter for succession games here. It is reasonable to be concerned about a site going down, so uploading to two or more and then linking to both from your thread would give some redundancy so that one site going down doesn't make your mod unreachable.

It isnt likely these sites (Mediafire/Mega etc) would go down anytime soon, but I cant say that for sure of course. Both sites are very popular for many other mods that are for other games.

It would be good to have a mirror/secondary link as well which is what some modding sites recommend not only as another location for download, but also download speeds vary between people and some people cant download from certain file hosts.

there is a thing ı wonder . Let's say ı have a mod people are looking for . If ı break it down and add it through the rest of attachements allowed to forum members . Of which ı think ı have already used 18 or 20 MBs . And some guy downloads them to upload as a single piece somewhere and ı delete my attachements , do ı use the capacity or get it back ?

and maybe a thread where people could ask for uploads could be good , so that those who have them might respond ?

You go get space back when you delete files you've uploaded to threads. I've brushed up against the 60 MB limit a few times, and have reclaimed space by deleting old, unneeded attachments.

The Downloads Database doesn't count towards the 60 MB attachment limit, however, unless I am mistaken.

thanks , that's good to know .
