Experimental effects
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
1. Sandstorm
  • Appears when zoomed in.
  • Could be cool effect for off-planet maps when parallel maps gets somewhere.
The sandstorm effect here is global and constant, so not realistic for earth.
Perhaps dll is capable of controlling the effect but I really have no idea about that.

2. Fog
  • Appears when zoomed in.
3. Clouds
  • Alternative approach to clouds.
4. Clouds & Fog
  • Combo package.
1, 2, & 3 are not compatible with each other, use only one of them at a time.
Although, they can be combined to work together with a little XML copy-pasting.

5. Terrain Texture Pack (SVN rev. 11181 → ?)
  • Peak, hill and water terrains

Installation: Just drag & drop the top folder called assets to the caveman2cosmos folder and overwrite what's there. Do not put it in the "My Mods" folder.

There is a snow storm graphic also as some storm graphics but I have difficulty seeing which plot they are on as they usually cover many plots to try and be 3D.

There is also a graphic for earthquakes but that animation plays before you get moved to the plot so mostly you don't see it. We could probably fix that I suppose.

the effects I've posted here are of a different nature than those you are speaking of.
These are not tied to any plot in any way.

Some cool stuff that would indeed be useful for multimaps I think. Interested to see what those who download report about the alternative clouds.

Strange, did you put it in the "my mods" folder? That might be the problem.
These modmods are not modular, but they don't overwrite any C2C files; so are easy to remove after tested.

I didn't see any mistakes in what I uploaded for the fog one....

I did make them a modmod, ie changed the art path and put them in a folder in the My-Mods folder. First time I forgot to change the art path and got pink everywhere:lol: Mind you I did all of them before I realised the graphic all had the same name.

The Cloud one does overwrite something it has a Global Defines XML file in it.

Ah, these are not compatible together out of the box. So you got it working?

Right, forgot about that one, something I added to compliment the new clouds. I removed the old clouds and changed the camera height in city view so that clouds were not covering the center window; it was a rough copy paste job so I might have changed something else; but probably nothing problematic..

Edit:
Added the latest version of my work with water and other terrain. I guess some might be curious about my progress here.
I went for more color than what was seen in earlier SVN; I'm not sure this was right so I'll need feedback.
Something will need changing but I've turned blind and paralyzed after saturating my own ability to work productively on it.

lol... texture work will do that to you if you spend too much time on it at once. It's similar to going nose blind after sniffing lots of different scents.

updated the terrain pack

New permafrost and Snow/Ice terrain.
Better lake shore.
Fixed some coastal water glitches (discoloration of beaches).

Edit:
Found And fixed some more beach discoloration.
EditEdit:
Improved land-water transition in terrain pack.
EditEditEdit:
updated terrain pack
This is meant for C2C v36. Most of this pack will go into SVN after v36 release.
EditEditEditEdit:
Added new hill textures to the terrain pack.

I had a feeling I made it too dark, will brighten it in next update :).

I could get a preview picture up today I guess.

Edit:
So just to get this straight, what water terrains were too dark in your opinion? I'm guessing you meant tropical ocean; but perhaps you meant some of the others as well?

There is only 1 file in the water folder marked water, correct?

Yes... but all water terrain get their color/darkness/brightness/contrast from a mixture of three different textures where the water texture in water folder is one of the three; the two others can be unique for each terrain.
So you are saying all water terrains are too dark?
