While the general Hall of Fame is an ongoing competition, we like to run time-definite competitions between updates that we call Gauntlets. Standard Hall of Fame rules (*) still apply, but any games meeting the settings will be counted towards the Gauntlet.

In celeberation of the release of BUFFY 3.19.004 we present our first ever Espionage Gauntlet! If you're not sure what Espionage is all about then check out this thread.

(*) Please read the >> HOF rules << BEFORE playing!

Settings:
 • Victory Condition: Espionage (though all victory conditions must be enabled)
 • Difficulty: Monarch
 • Starting Era: Ancient
 • Map Size: Small
 • Speed: Epic
 • Map Type: Pangaea
 • Required: No Tribal Villages, No Random Events
 • Civ: Sumeria (Gilgamesh)
 • Opponents: Must include Celt (Boudica), Greece (Pericles), Ottoman (Suleiman), Russia (Stalin)
 • Version: **3.19.004**
 • Date: 10th November to 10th December 2015
Must not play as Inca.
The earliest finish date wins, with score as a tiebreaker.

Any chance we can get an extension on this? I really want to play this but am tangled up with the current BOTM. Maybe add on a month.

I doubt I can get a game in by the 10th.

For any players that want the basics of the strategy check out this post by Kaitzilla. Super good stuff.

Yep. Creative is not too bad with Gilgamesh also. Protective though...

Mostly it's commerce that's needed. Courthouses are needed for the spy specialist and some minimal espionage points

Congrats Pollina! :)

How on earth did you get 7 Great Spies with a non-Philo civ?
With good spy modifiers, that is about 2/3rds of the total :espionage: needed!

Fastest HOF traditional :culture: victory on Monarch is 1080AD on a large map, and 1340AD on a small map, so Espionage Victory shows its strength.

Thanks.

I was running mixed spies and artists in most major cities, and kept getting Great Spies when I was desperate for a 3rd Great Artist. I got one eventually, but a bit too late, so I lost some turns there. I already had enough EP when I got the 7th GSpy, so that one was overkill.

I haven't completely figured out how to balance EP generation, GP generation and spy production properly. Popping an extra Great Artist usually means that you need less spies, but more emphasis on EP generation via the EP slider. Popping a Great spy means that you need more spies and less EP. To plan things out properly, it would be best to run pure spies or artists in your cities, but that results in less GP total - probably not ideal.
