Carry on, just a repost to free space in my miscelaneus civ designs thread. Nothing new to see here.

I take it you aren't running any projects here?

No, not here. I really just moved these designs here to liberate space in my other designs thread, as these are pretty much finished and make the page take an eternity to load, I really want actual commentary in the other thread and the loading time is dissuasive.

Of course, if I ever decide to mod, I'll probably start with these, most of them seem easier to go through than the Chiloe civ idea I had a while back and all the assets have already been looked for.

So I decided to rethink the Kingdom of Chile design because it sort of doesn't make much sense to have the poorest spanish colony be one centered around gold production, so here's my idea now:

Kingdom of Chile - Garcia Hurtado de Mendoza

UA: Flandes Indiano: During war, active trade rotes will generate melee combat units over time. Units trained in cities with a Great work of writing start with the "Land of Poets" promotion, which earns them experience each turn.
UU: Real Situado: Replaces Musketman. Earns a small amount of gold upon adopting a promotion. Level 4 or higher Real Situados can be expended for a Great work of writing.
UB: Presidio: Replaces Caravansary. Reduces cost of purchasing buildings in city by 5% per each trade route in city. 1 slot for great work of writing.

________________________________________________________________________

So, as said, Chile was the poorest colony of Spanish America, and probably the Spanish Empire entirely, on a constant active war footing and no, err, indigenous slaves for cheap labor, there was simply nothing of worth to take from this land, they couldn't abandon it however because it'd be prime land for Corsair incursions and for the enemies of Spain to get a footing in South America.

Something curious that happened is that many, many, really many epic poems were written. So I thought that was way too important to not be a central thematic within this civilization design.

The other half ot the design is related to my introduction, Chile was the poorest colony and on a constant war footing, nobody wanted to come here, so it was basically the dumping ground for bandits and malcontents from all around Spanish America, who more often than not ended up serving in the colonial army, the "first professional army in the spanish Americas" that is, the Real Situado, our first unique who, appropiately enough, can produce great works of writing, ideally I'd have unique great works of writing for this civ which quoted the above shown books and poems.

The final unique is just to tie everything together, a Presidio is a sort of Fort, sort of town, sort of Prison, meant to keep the enemies out and the punished in, many of the public works and most buildings were done with hand-labor from prisoners from these places, so it was only fitting for it to reduce the production time of buildings.

So... what do you think? :)

Wow. Unfamiliar with the civ, but that's a really nice design. I especially like the UU, seems neat and gives the player an intriguing choice.
