A wondrous occasion was coming to the town of JUMPsville: their very first JUMPING olympic games! There would be the long jump, the high jump, the triple jump, and all the jumps that would fill even the most rambunctious jumper's heart. The official mascot, Springy the spring, had been selected, and all the town all watched as the JUMPING torch finally made its way to light the ceremonial fire. The event was finally here!
Klipspringer Kennigit--the mayor of the town--began his introductory speech.
"Welcome all, at long last! I would first like to thank all the citizens and athletes who helped establish these games, and all who will be competing. I must also give my thanks to the slug delegation, who...finally...finished their leg of the torch bearing..."
Slug #1: "Heyy, we don't got no legs! Don't blame us"
Kennigit: "Oh, erm, well that wasn't what I was saying....Anyways, um, I must also bring some bad news that I fear may mar this joyous event. You see, I have received word that there are some poachers disguised among us! Vile wretched creatures they are, undoubtedly hunting us to make some sort of JUMPING potion, but don't worry, I have devised a foolproof method to sort out those who aim to harm us and those that carry the true JUMPING spirit!"
"You see, to show one's ability to JUMP, all we must do is take a leap over the Cliff of Death! Now don't worry, that's just the name...rather odd it is. BUT, I am quite confident, that every righteous JUMPER shall easily make it over, leaving those who are merely treacherous scum to fall to their certain death in the cliffside below! Anyone we find suspiscious, we'll just make them JUMP"
Slug #2: "Heyy, but we can't jump!"
Kennigit: "Oh, erm, well we'll jump that hurdle when we get there. But, to demonstrate my confidence in this method, I shall have my unpaid intern, Rudolph, make the very first JUMP!"
Rudolph looked a little uneasy. The Cliff of Death was no easy task. He tried to protest the JUMP, but Mayor Klipspringer Kennigit assured Rudolph he would give him a letter of recommendation and MAYBE university credit if he made the jump. Rudolph charged towards the cliffside with all his speed, leapt far--far!--into the air, but also fell--fell!--deep into the abyss below.
Kennigit: "AH! See, the method has worked already! I never would have suspected Rudolph one bit! Well, I suppose I'll go have my other unpaid interns go fetch his body, I guess they'll be back later. But, I know Rudolph was not the only poacher to have made it into town. Say, who should we send to test next?"
