Question: can anyone explain please what's that all about? Starting a new thread after 1000 posts in the old one, or what? If that's the thing, I really don't mind Borachio doing it.
The person who snagged the 1000th post in a serial thread gets to make the new thread, which makes for a bizarrely-coveted trophy around here. This privilege generally only lasts for 24 hours though, before relocating to the person who made the 999th post, etc.
Any thread that has a numeral beside its name (be it roman, greek, whatever) is a serial thread that gets renewed after 1000 posts. The person who makes the 1000th post gets first dibs to make the next one but can cede it to someone else. It becomes a free-for-all if 24 hours have passed since the 1000 posts and anyone can make it.
It's kind of a badge of honor to get to make the new thread and give it a clever name (though not all serial threads change names with each iteration; some, like this one, just append a new number).
The old threads get archived and all of the posts you made in it get deducted from your postcount.
It was revoked due to not being spectacular enough. A prime minster, a McDonalds joint opened in the middle of nowhere and, of course, a white-green-red roll of paper to be cut by the former, are by far much greater and amazing and spectacular.
So much that the rightmost guy is completely out there over the right edge.
Spoiler:
He's a stupidly smiling guy though with his tie tucked into his pants (WTH?), so there's a point for him to be unseen I guess, and I shouldn't have scrolled the screen there at all. Muh bad.
I just realised that the President is in there, as well. Christ. It's opening a new McDonalds in Pernik, which is literally Detroit, but with more coal!
Do fancy restaurants tend to not take reservations for just 1 person, preferring to have at least 2 people at a table, always, so that a spot isn't "wasted" ?
Is that a thing, maybe in New York specifically, or is that not a thing?
