BOTM 104: Il Duce of Rome.

Julius Caesar, The Leader of Rome, Il Duce. SGOTM22 Revenge: Zara Yacob must die. And Gilgamesh as well.
This BOTM is revenge for my team's defeat in SGOTM22.
Spoiler :
from kcd_swede's last post in the thread:
... Gilga declared war, took Gaul on second turn of war, and marched straight to Rome with over 40 units (marines, SAM inf, inf, Cavs, artillery, you name it.
No stopping it... The Rome was captured in 1984.

Anyhow, we weren't going to win this. Zara wonder-spam had us beat a long time ago.
Goal in SGOTM22 was to build 7 world wonders in Rome. But Zara was a wonder building machine and he was far far away.

Julius Caesar has never starred in a BOTM! He was The Leader for SGOTM22 and led 3 of 5 teams to defeat. This game you can get your revenge on all those other civs that were so mean to you then.
This time AIs aren't excessively buffed and no restrictions on player growth or victory conditions.

In contrast to SGOTM22 and BOTM102, there is no reward for building Wonders. However the :ninja: will be awarded to the player that captures the most wonders.
Spoiler :
Keep track of wonders as you capture cities. List total count in the Final Spoiler or send me a PM.
World Wonders, Shrines, and Headquarters that you capture count.
Spoiler :
National Wonders and Projects don't.
But you can't capture those.
You must remove both Zara and Gil from the game to be eligible for this award. They are in your way to reach other civs. And they have all the wonder resources.
So, you have to decide whether or not to keep them around to build wonders for you.

edit, note - player is not required to eliminate Zara and Gil for any other awards.

Interesting concept. OPtorians! :goodjob:

Sure you don't want some restrictions, like you can only capture/found a new city if you have the equal amount of wonders as cities? :D

G-Major 144 is taking up all my time, for better or worse, so haven't had time to play the last BOTMs, nor this one I reckon. Looks like an odd starting area. Jungle in the BFC, practically no forests. Don't think the warrior will reveal anything no matter where you take him. Think I might have taken the settler to the green hill in the SW to reveal a lot of tiles, and possibly settle down there. There are FPs at least, and moving away from a rice isn't all that hurtful. All those green hills would be nice of course, but I don't like the SIP position. The rice up there is wet, which is better, but still, it doesn't look like a great spot, which jungle nearby, which may grow over the rice if you are unlucky.

"National Wonders and Projects don't.
But you can't capture those. "
Projects can't be captured but I believe National Wonders can. You just have to not have that NW built or under construction anywhere when you capture a city that has it. I'm not sure if this applies to :bts: or was it in [civ4] or [c4w] but I definitely remember having been annoyed:gripe:when I got a sub-optimally placed national wonder through city capture.
Starting location looks a bit boring. Might not SIP.

Don't think that is possible in BtS. For instance, in the G-Major 144 game I'm currently playing, I captured a city with Moai in it, very early, and it got razed.

It may be possible if the AI is so grand as to gift you a city with a national wonder in it, though don't hold your breath for that happening! :D The reason I say that is that I've gifted away a city with a national wonder in it, and that got preserved in the city afterwards. It was a desperate measure to prevent domination in a conquest game. Think it was the Heroic Epic city actually.

Don't think the warrior will reveal anything no matter where you take him.
Warrior SW should reveal something, as the hill 3S of warrior looks like a hill (line in tile grid isn't straight), as does 3W1N of warrior.

Still hoping to play some BOTM one day, maybe this one. But our team already killed Zara and Giggles, they might be out to take revenge on me!

Vengeance is a dish best served cold- what's with the jungles?

This start is clearly april fools, it can't be that bad. Expecting the real game to open up soon.

Right...? :hide:

Sheesh, no one is ever happy. :twitch:
"Deity start is too easy." "Noble start is too poor."
I revealed the rice so you could see how strong SIP was. Do I get any thanks? :nono:
Sorry about the jungles. :mischief: I was too busy adjusting the AI positions. :p

Someday I may learn to stop responding to trolls. :hmm:

"Soon" is relative to what, exactly? Continental drift?:mischief:
:rotfl:

:rotfl:
The start is so horribly pathetic that I feel like walking my settler over teh entire map before settling about 2016 AD next to 3 porkers. At least we could be Mao if all we get to eat is rice. :mischief:

Please note that eliminating Zara and Gil is not required for any of the usual medals and fastest finish awards.
It is only needed for the :ninja: stealing wonders award.
It is a big part of the theme.
Sorry about any confusion.

And if you didn't notice, the spoiler threads are open.

OMG... so that means putting them on their knees is not enough... you have to eliminate them? OMG you are worse than the director for The Walking Dead!;)

I can well understand your horror, kcd_swede, because when it comes to Civ mapmaking, you are always so kind and gentle - never evil or mean - so clearly you don't have a single iota of evil anywhere in you. So I guess the thought of a civ being eliminated must come as a shock to you. You have my deepest sympathies.
