This is a black-skinned equivalent of the Infantry. This takes part to the general idea of having African Civs fight with black-skinned units. I have made this unit with palette modifications and copy/pasting of the skin parts on the original graphics.

This is my first unit, so maybe there are some usual newbie mistakes that I've done :o.
All animations, .ini file, civilopedia entry and icon are included. If you encoutner any problem with it, please just let me know :)

Enjoy :D

African Infantry (sorry, I couldn't host it while linking directly to it)

Edit : there was an attached file that didn't work. The link above should work, however.

Good Job!

Unfortunatly there's only one African civ. It's good to have all these Zulu flavor units though. Nice job. Goes along well with Sims's african marine.

Spiffor -- looks VERY nice :goodjob:

Blix & aaminion00 -- Sadly, Civ is extremely Euro-centric, BUT you'll note that mod makers have been busy, as there're very fine leaderheads, units, city lists etc. for both ancient Ghana/Mali and Ethiopia.

Don't you think that,that's a bit racist?

that's like saying: isn't it rascist to have a black teacher and a white teacher? how is it rascist that an African country fights with black units?

the USA may also be able to build the African Infantry as well as the white Infantry, to represent our country's diverse, equal and not rascist(except the KKK) people. :)

Well, there are two things in this unit that can be considered 'racist' by someone overly sensitive:

- The whole chest is black (except for the backpack), meaning that the African Infantry has no uniform over his belt. It was at first a mistake from my part (I had it hard distinguishing skin and uniform colours on the originial unit), but I kept it so because the unit was more clearly African, and because I'd think soldiers will have less clothing in a hot environment.
Still, this can be considered somehow racist, in the meaning that some people could see a "look, Africans are too stupid to have whole uniforms" spirit here.

- In the Civilopedia entry, in the descriprion field, I gave a short summary of postcolonial Africa's military history. Of course, because of the many problems known by Africa, this description was not enthusiastic (insufficient training, insufficient wages, coups, pillages, AIDS as a plague...). Some people could imagine that I poke fun to Africa by describing its military failures in the Pedia.

Of course, I invite everybody to give the African Infantry the exact same statistics as the regular Infantry (the pedia entry has been written in this spirit)

Oh, I forgot to add that I could need help for 2 things:

- Could someone please correct the grammar and spelling mistakes I've done in the Pedia entry ? English is not my native language, and I'd like the entry to look as professional as possible :)

- I have no icon for the Civilopedia (I shipped the file with the units32.pcx' icon, but nothing more). Does anyone want to make one ? I have no 3d software and am completely inexperienced in 3d anyways, so I can't do a good PediaIcon by myself...

Here's a thought. If you can do the same with pi8ch's Foreign Legion, then and try to make the uniform as white as possible, then we can have some colonial troops for European powers, native levies.
Well, for now I concentrate on making black-skinned units for the African Civs themselves, and I work veeeery slowly (I started working on this unit 2-3 weeks ago). But I'll keep your suggestion in mind for the future, as it could be a fine addition to WW1 or WW2 scenarios :b:.

Let´s hope nobody accuses me of racism because I made a Blackhawk heli :D

Oh, and nice unit :)

Why do you think that, Blix?

Well look at the Indians, their skin is tanned but did we bother to change their infantry skin color,no.Now were changing African infantry with black skin color,I fail to see why we need to change these things, who cares about skin color.I don't.

Welln the willingness to change skin colours came to me after I played Rise of Nations. In that game, all culture groups have their own looks for generic units, and African Civs have black soldiers. It brings much to feeling involved in the game :)

good, 'cause i hate it when rascist black people say, "white people can't run.' so DON'T give the African Infantry an extra movement point. :)

i am working on that project. i agree that skin color does not matter. all humans are equal. if you are rascist or homophobic or sexist, then go join the KKK, 'cause i don't want you in my neighborhood.

the reason why we change these things is because it anoys some people that the Zulu use white units. Who cares what race someone is

by the way, Zimbabwe is 3% white and South Africa is 10% white and 3% Asain Indian. so if you really don't want to be rascsist than you can give Zululand and the USA both types. :) stick that up your pipe and smoke it KKK! :)
