-Intro-
I was inspired with this idea while updating EQNES 2. This is a bit different from other story NESes in only one respect. Specifically, instead of a historical accurate NES with RL weapons and ages, we will have magic and medieval (mostly). Based on a world map, players play as RL or made up nations using wizards as leaders, or perhaps necromancers, dragons or giant hawks as an air forces, undead armies, giant turtles, basically anything your mind can think of. The only limit is creating really really dumb stuff, which I will inform you if you've gone the limit.
-Set Up-
Nation Name: Player Name (AIM)
Starting province:
Government: see below for choices and their benefits
Religion/Belief: (describe your own)
Race: (describe your own)
Age: First Years
Army: tiny (or very small if landlocked)
Army Components: see governments below
Navy: tiny (or none if landlocked)
Navy Components: Tiremes
Air Force: NA
Air Force components: NA
Production Power: Average
Magical Power: 0
Culture: 0
Confidence in Leader: Average
-Governments-
Like in a normal story NES, you have to have some government sort of thing. Your government is your defining charactoristic in this NES. It determines what kind of troops make the bulk of your armies, and what weapons they wield. You cannot change your government after you first make one, so choose wisely. Below are some examples:
Vampiric Lordship
Dwarven Kingdom
Wizard Tribunal
Necromatic Empire
Grecian Republic
Basically, make your government and nation name go with your race. Also, no dragon nations or any flying people; just to keep me sane.
-Race-
Just what it sounds like. What kind of race do you want to be; some basic examples are below:
Men (wizards are indeed men as are necromancers)
Dwarves
Elves
Undead
Iskar (a made up race of lizard people from EverQuest)
So you can make up your own race or choose one of the above. It is your choice.
-Ages-
Like a normal story NES, this has Ages. The current age and the next and previous ages are below:
Previous Ages:
CUrrent Age: First Years
Next Age: Age of Growth
-Military and Components-
Army sizes and might is in the same way as before, however, some armies are more powerful than an army of equal size. What race you are determines this as does your government. An example is below:
A Wizard Tribunal government with a tiny army of magicians (First Years Age magic users) vs a Human Kingdom with a tiny army of swordsmen. The magicians are much stronger and thus would win.
WHen you create a government race mix, start thinking of a good basic type of soldier for the first age. You may add a new unit any military stat at a max of 1 more per every 5 turns. It can be an upgrade on an old unit or an entirely new unit. If you need help thinking of one, i am willing to help you. Here are some basics which you may use for first age:
For a Human Kingdom: Swordsmen
For a necromatic or undead: Skeleton Warrior
for Wizards: Magician
The only limit to your units is your own imagination. By the way, no making all powerful uberunits as that would ruin the fun of the game for other players.
Military sizes: tiny-very small-small-medium-large-very large-huge-gigantic-imperial
-Production Power-
Same thing as economy in a normal story NES. Costs for military upgrades depend once again on your race and government, as some cost more to produce than others. growing Culture or Magical Power costs 1 economy. Increasing production takes 2 turns.
Sizes: Nonexistent-Bad-Poor-Below Average-Average-Above Average-Decent-Good-Very Good-Maginificent-Beyond Belief
-Culture-
The higher the culture you have the better your people will fight. A army that has something worth defending will fight better and harder than an army that burns and destroys all in sight. Also it may lead to some bonuses for your people.
-Magical Power-
The super weapon of the magical world. Building this up to certain points will allow you to use massive weapons of magical destruction that can change the odds of war into your favor. A magically based nation can upgrade two magical levels for 1 production instead of the usual one. Here's a list of the things you can do with certain levels of magic:
5 magic levels: Raise a temporary tiny army of summoned beings or undead to fight for 1 (+1 more turn for every 5 magic used on spell) turn.
10 magic: Powerful magic blast which banishes a tiny section of an enemy army for a turn (+1 turn for every 10 levels used)
25: Destructive blast. The "nuke" of magic, can devastate large amounts of land and armies. Any amount of magic used above 25 creates a more powerful blast.
-COnfidence in Leader-
This goes up depending on how much you write like in EQNES 2 or in china's no pressure NES. More you write the more it goes up. Wiriting nothing makes it go down.
-Battles-
This is determines by the strength of your armies, by magic spells you use, and by tactics you send to me by PM. and as a warning, the smallest army with the best tactics can sometimes defeat a larger army which uses no tactics.
I think i've covered everything. If there are questions or need for me to clarify on anything please post.
