How much interest is there for a LotR nes in he forum now?
Please post if you are interested.
It will be a bit like a normal* nes; You get a map, you are a race, and then you expand, fight, etc etc.
I think that this could be quite funny, especially if the players ally a bit across races...

*=you have economy, army, (navy), education, ages, race bonuses and things.

When it was tried? Not Lotr.
My map is ready and soon I will begin working on the rules. I do not let anyone use my Map befor me ;)

I would try it, but hopefully it would be better than all the other LotR NESes that have been tried. Also, I am somewhat of a Middle Earth freak, so if you have any questions about LotR, I can help.

I bags the Undead guys. How would it work. Just have the nations and thats that no story included or do we allow it to follow the storyline and we all take a major chracter of the story and use them in the way that it would be good? This could be more RP or more NES depending on which way we wanna go.

I'd be willing to mod it, but as sheep said-- do we want to follow the book, or do we just want a 4kBC (First Age) game?

I think we should have a a chracteter list and each person be a chracter. They can follow their lines and what not and we generally follow a story. It would be the best way instead of worrying about a national based NES, a more RP style with some NES elements included where the MOD controls all nations.

Chracters can include

All the major chracters from the movies.

Pff...I have to agree with Death on this one...I say we take a nation and each nation has heroes in which we can dispatch as generals or something in war...Like the elves would have that elven guy and the elven king or something...And the dwarves would have their guy and the hobbits's place would have those 2 lil guys and fat boy,etc...I'd like to see Froto turn into a conuerer and those lil guys being just as powerful as the orcs...That would be quite funny

Yeah, sheep if we did a RP nes like that we'd just end up having an online game of Dungeons and Dragons or something foolish like that.

I'm with Death, no RP. But I think that a 4kBC type NES could be fun.
@Sheep: What do you mean undead???
There are Orcs and Trolls and Goblins that are normally the "evil" side.
The only gruop that even resembles undead are the "shades of the Oathbreakers" that Aragorn calls calls at the stone of Erech. Have you heard of anything else, naervod?
@naervod: I'm also Middle Earth freak.

If we are going to have 4kBCNES, then I have a suggestion:
Races:
Trolls, Orcs, Goblins, Elves, Ents, Hobbits, Men.
Do we want subraces, for example:
Dunedàin, Pûkel-men (Rohirrim, Wizards) are all under Men. there are also other places where this happens: Dwarves/Mountain dwarves/Hill dwarves or: Mountain Orcs/Hill Orcs/Flatland Orcs etc. etc.

And then everybody could have bonuses: Ents GREAT in trees, Elves good in trees, dwarves good in mountains/Hills etc. etc.
How does that sound?

i´m a ME freak too : ). What about a Silmarilion setting? Each player would pick one prince/King:

dorias, hithlum, dwarfes, green elves etc

or a LotR setting where everyplayer gets one of these nation:

  • Harad
    Easterlings
    Ruhn
    K???
    Morder
    Isengart(with dunlendings)
    Moria

  • Gondor
    Rohan
    Shire (with Breeland)
Elronds home (Immladris ? I dunno the correct english name...)
Elves in the west of shire(dunno engl name)
    Lothlorien with ents
    Tharanduils Caves
    Maybe Beorninger
Dwarves west of Shire (duno english name)
    Erebor with thal

Gondor
Arnor
Numenor
Rohan
Northmen
The Shire
Noldor
Sindar
Moriquendi
The Dwarves
Mordor
Angmar
Isengard
Southrons
Easterlings
Harad
Dale
Ossiriand
Hollin
Lothlorien
Mirkwood

1.Should the Northmen be a civ?
2.What is Hollin?
3.When Ellendil and his sons created Arnor and Gondor Numenor was already sunken.
4.What are Southrons?
5.Isengard should either be a caslte of Arnor or Gondor

Seems as though nobody is listening to the thread starter. I quote:
"you have economy, army, (navy), education, ages"
"I think that a 4kBC type NES could be fun."

Feel quite free to start your own LOTRNES, Role-playing if you like (see my sig), do whatever you think is silly enough, but...
AFAI can see, this is a NES in the style of WNES#?, stJNES5, EQNES etc.

The idea of a 4000BC NES sounds except for one problem. This is Middle Earth. There is no 4000 BC. If we wanted to play a similar NES we could start at the beginning of the First Age, and we could put in events that really happened in Middle Earth, except this time they would be shaped by what the players do. For example, in the First Age we could play out our own wars, but also the wars of the Valinor against Morgoth, and then at the end of the age, many of the Noldor and Sindar would go over to the west, across the sea. Then, we could do similar things based on what happened in each age, and once weget to the Fourth Age, it could be entirely unscripted.

@Gladinia, Sheep- There is one group of people that could be considered undead. Then Army of the Dead (Men of the Mountain) as depicted in the Return of the King could be considered an undead race. Of course if the events were to run their course correctly, they would only be around from the middle/end of the Second Age until the end of the Third Age.
