If my first Sg isn't appreciated (see mII - a desolate situation), I have another one:

It was at the earliest hour of the day, when Ramses/Mursilis/Hammurabi/Alexander/Xerxes/Sargon/Hiram stepped out of the big tent and looek upon his supporter from the biggest and mightiest families of whole Egypt/Hetthitia/Babylon/Greece/Persia/Sumeria/Phoenicia. He was satisfied. By this evening, he would be king and then he coul make his plan come true: conquer the world!

But he had a problem. His father had been assassinated. Poisoned by his biggest vassal. He wouldn't allow this to happen again: Theben/Hattusas/Babylon/Mycanaea/Agbatana/Ur/Tyrus shall be the only city on the whole world. Every other city shall be destroyed and their citizens shall live peacefull under the reign of his dynasty in villages. And he knew that he could do it and he knew that it will come true.

Any more questions? This is a OCC (one-city-challenge) in the first conquest, the mesopotamian one. It covers the first centuries of the 'cultuivated human history'. There are quite some changes, please look them up in the civilopedia before playing. The game can be won by wonder and point victory. (wonder means the one who built most of the 7 wonders wins). But this is a conquest game: Yes, our army will leave the capital and destroy the world. We are not allowed to get more than one city. Not even by conquering it. wonder victory will be on, so we have to care that no one else wins.

the civ, difficulty is open for discussion. I vote for the phoenicians. But this is up to decide here by discussion. Nevertheless, here's the screenie of the starting place. (the rest ahs to be looked up by yourself in the civilopedia)

I'm interested, I have no OCC experience but I will learn quickly (hopefully)

I'd like to give it a try. Since it's only OCC turns won't take too long. Any civ is fine for me.

I'd suggest Mycenae, Hittites or Phoenicians for the civ, Hittites get high production, Mycenae has hoplites and is rather good place, Phoenicians are good too though

I'd vote for Mycenae

I'll have a look at the tech tree and start positions a bit more closely and give any civ preferences I have...

To win, I think we have to eliminate every enemy civ, as they will all be ahead of our one city when time runs out (is it 130 turns?)

mitsho you should tell us about your games in ur other sgs
well this seems like a good idea, but we need to be careful of what difficulty we pick otherwise we won't beat out the ai for tech and their armies will punish us otherwise. so far, the phoenicians look to have the 'best' starting place, so I'd go with them. if you wanted this to be a successful monarch/ emporer game, this would either need to be a 3CC or 5CC fyi...

I guess I'll join. I say yes to phonecia, but also, I can't play for a while, is that okay? Just skip my turns, until I get my C3C fixed.

Ok, looks like it is Phoenicians then. That's fine with me. They are relatively central so they likely would be a good choice for this variant. Some of the other civs do have better land, but I think with Phoenicia we can control the contacts, and control the trading, which will be needed to stay up in technology.

so, I'm sorry. But I just came back from London some hours ago. I'm happy. this will be great... :) Phoenicians are ok with me. Dfficulty level?

Is this ok? complain here in this thread... :) 6 are enough for an OCC, I and Gogf are last, becausew e both have problems with the comp/C3C.

the game version will be the normal scenario, difficulty to be determined, newest version (patch 1.15, I think?)

It doesn't matter for me, which difficulty level.

The game can start, whenever you want, (but this week). I've added a map of the phoenician starting position up there. Where should we build our city? I think the middle settler is ok?

We have a slight advantage in this game, because we will have a early 'big' city, the settlers can be melted in and enough workers (so we don't have to build them). Our military is also good (for one city).

anyone has a strategy in mind?

I have no idea how difficult OCC is on Regent but it's fine for me.
That's good place for city, there is plenty of food and hills and cedars give us good production

Ok... I'll try and get to this today. I'll take 10 turns, and will settle that middle dot.

Also, what aggression setting should I use? Normal?

Double Edit: Now why did I keep thinking that we had to win by conquest????

disband most of the units (like settlers) but use the rest for building roads AND scouting... we are gonna need to get MANY techs ahead at first so we can at least build 3 of the wonders... use our units wisely and we can succeed outdoing the ai in the first 50 or so turns

MIII

Game settings are, Phoenicia, Regent Difficulty, Normal AI Aggression.

Apologies firstly for thinking that conquest would be the goal. It is much more logical to head for
a VP or wonder victory.

Turn 0 (4000 BC)- I found Tyre on the spot mentioned in discussions. We are making -7gpt.
To start with I switch off research as the fastest we can acquire a technology that another civilisation
doesn't start with is 16 turns for Irrigation. We need one unit to contact Egypt, and I will use the Curragh
for that purpose. I will send another Curragh north and a warrior east to contact firstly Babylon and
Sumeria.

I disband the two southern warriors, and the northernmost warrior. I leave the warrior beginning in Tyre
fortified to serve as MP. I disband the northern warrior. I move all the settlers and workers toward
Tyre. The southern Curragh is sent south, and the northern Curragh is sent north.

We are now making -2gpt but when the other units merge in that should improve. Tyre starts on a granary
due in 17, but I might change the build.

I think the collossus should be the first great wonder we aim for.

Turn 1 (3960 BC) Everything continues to move. The worker begins roading the wheat (we cannot mine or
irrigate yet).

Turn 2 (3920 BC) More movement. I begin roading the dyes tile next to Tyre.

Turn 3 (3880 BC) I merge the first settler into Tyre. It now produces 7 spt at size 3 with no growth.
I need to wait a bit before merging the next settler in. I begin a minimum science run on Astronomy,
as we are very likely to grab it first, for some victory points.

Turn 4 (3840 BC) My eastern warrior sees a red Babylonian border. The southern Curragh sees an Egyptian warrior/
settler pair. They have Ceremonial Burial and are down Wood Working and Sailing on us. I will wait a bit
before making any trades, as Egypt will take many turns to contact other AI's. They have 2 cities and
are about to found a 3rd. I will wait one more turn before merging in the settler, so the borders of Tyre
expand.

Turn 5 (3800 BC) I disband the southern curragh. There are no more southern AI's to contact. I merge
the settler into Tyre. I can now begin research on Irrigation in a resonable amount of time (:smoke:- sorry I should not have started to research Astronomy), and I start
break-even research on Irrigation due in 10 turns. I have to have luxuries at 10%, and the citizens working
the first tiles, but irrigation is an absolutely critical technology in this scenario. Two workers begin
to clear a forest north of Tyre and two others begin to clear a forest on the dyes tile (oops :smoke: I
should have cleared the tile then roaded it). Egypt has acquired Stone Working.

Turn 6 (3760 BC) I contact Babylon and they are up Ceremonial Burial and Stone working on me, while I have
Pottery and Wood Working on them. I cannot get both techs off them, without giving both my techs
( I can get close to a deal for all my money and 1 tech), so I will wait on any trades temporarily.

Turn 7 (3720 BC) My warrior crosses into Babylonian territory to head south and contact Sumeria. An
arab Barbarian shows up 3 turns from Tyre. The northern Curragh spots a Green border.

IBT- Babylon complains about the warrior.

Turn 8 (3680 BC) I contact Mycenae who are up Warrior Code and Stone Working on us, while we are up
Pottery and Woodworking. Egypt has also acquired Warrior Code this turn. I get Warrior Code and 7 gold
from Mycenae for Pottery. I then trade Babylon 10 gold and Pottery for Ceremonial Burial and Stone Working.
There is some stone near Tyre but we will need a colony to reach it. The barbarian has fortified.

IBT- Babylon has acquired Warrior Code.

Turn 9 (3640 BC). Nothing happens

Turn 10 (3600 BC). The two forest chops complete and the granary is built. I start on a burial mound,
due in 10, hopefully as a prebuild for something useful (can be veteoed). My warrior spots a blue Sumerian
border, Babylon and Sumeria must be in contact with each other.

Note: We are very gold heavy at the moment (in what tiles are being worked),
but acquiring a necessary monopoly technology I felt was very important. Sorry if there is any
:smoke: in these turns.
