Star trek or Star wars fan?

i used to be a Star wars fan, the old movies were great, The humor in the Empire Strikes back with Han Solo in the asteroids fields was cool.

The new movies suck tho. Jar Jar Binks sucks ass. I hate hearing his voice. Someone shove a light saber up his ...

The second new Star wars movie was great the first time i saw it. Fell asleep the next time i saw it. I don't know what happened there.

I started watching the Next Generation from series one to six. Waiting for the series seven marathon to appear. Got really in to it. Like some episodes had too much BS drama. I knew they were saving up money for a good episode soon and they did deliver. Data is my faourite.

Caught a few Star Trek Voyager episodes and they are quite cool too. Waiting for the marathos that would start from series one. Don't know about any other Star trek series. They seem to suck.

I hate both because they are to overrated. First Star Trek series was great and first three Star Wars were good but the new Star Trek is bad. Also I like the new Star Wars, if for nothing other than to see space nerds cry.

I liked the original trilogy, and didn't mine the new ones (I used an awesome movie watching trick on them called "going in with low expectations and just enjoying the special effects and not bothering with the plot because you just know it's horrible")

Star Trek Basicly has four tiers of goodness for movies and series
1st tier: the pretty good stuff
The original Series, The Next Generation, The wrath of Khan, The search for Spock, and First contact
2nd tier: the moderately good stuff:
Deep Space nine, generations, all other origional series based movies except the motion picture (the first movie)
3rd Tier: Watchable
Insurrection, Voyager, The motion picture
4th Tier: Burn it, send it to hell
Enterprise and Nemesis

Star Wars is just overrated. The jedi thing is kind of interesting but beyond that I don't care.

Next Generation was the peak of ST for me. DS9 was fairly good, it had it's moments. Voyager was so-so. Enterprise looks semi-interesting, but I haven't watched more than 3 episodes so I can't really say. I never got into the original.

I don't mind either.

But what I find stupid about Star Trek, is all the captains are as weak as piss (even Kirk, to a lesser extent), and they always let stupid ideals get in the way of what's best for the federation.

Seriously, if our future brass behaves that way, it would be the downfall of the human race.

Just once, I'd like to hear a captain say something along the lines of, "Computer, get a transporter lock on our prisoners right leg, and on my command, beam it a meter to the left.", While interrogating that alian that's been causing all that heart ache aboard the ship, & refuses to talk.

You crack me up.

Yea, i hate some of the moral decisions the captains make sometimes.

"Mr. Data, spot a target lock on that TIE fighter."

"Shall I power up the torpedoes, sir?"

"No, the glare off my head should do the trick."

Ahh, TNG. The best of the bunch.

Give me Babylon 5 any day of the week and twice on Sundays :D ;)

Out of the two I'd pick Star Wars if only for the first 3 movies which I loved as a child. Star Trek has always been, as has been said way too black and white, humans seem incapable of being evil in the main. Total rubbish unless the race suddenly gets genetically modified pretty damn soon to remove all our bad traits :D

I also disliked it's habit of short storylines and the way each episode often had no relation to those around it. I guess it's good to dip into for occaisional episodes, but for entire series, it just doesn't cut the mustard next to something with the depth and planning of B5. :)

Absolutely! Hands down better.

I have problems with both Star Wars and Star Trek, but I would pick Star Wars as it is more realistic and "down to earth".

Bring on the evil humans, i never see that!

That's why B5 for one (obviously there's others) is much better, Humans are at the forefront of many of the bad events of the galaxy, the command staff of the station can be capable of evil events and so on. A much more rounded thing IMO :)

I will try to catch B5 then. i think i have seen only 1 episode.

Guess what I voted.

I even like the newer ones, despite one character who I feel should be accompanied by a rancor in a giant pit.

Doesn't some of the technical talk in ST crack you up? Some of it is so ridiculous i can't even make up an example!

Like.......... "the warp core is overloading, we need to vent excess plasma from the EPS manifolds and open the M/AM power converters on deck 5, shut down secondary nacalle and then use the transporter to open a temporal subspace rupture, by aligning the transpoter phase varience to 10.735, then.............." :D

Btw I love all Startrek, Though I enjoy TNG, DS9, and ENT more than TOS/VOY, I'm a big fan of B5 (though I have not seen many episodes) and a moderate fan of Star Wars and many other Sci-fi series. If there is one series I hate its that western-in-space series, firefly. Man what a load of crap.

STAR WARS ROCKS. Almost every other week or so me and some of my friends play Star Wars Trivial Pursut. I love it

I had played a Star Wars drinking game. My mates and I watched Star Wars (Original) and everytime someone said "FORCE", we had to down a spirit. We thought the first movie was a warm up. We were totally smahed by the end. The bit that got us was Luke with Obi-wan in his house where force is said three times in succession.

It went something like this.
O: "The force is what gives the jedi his strength?
L: "The force?"
O: this one isn't right ... "Yes, the force!"

:rotfl:

We were 18 and not experienced drinkers. (Legal at 18 to drink in Australia)

Ive seen some Star Wars and Star Trek drinking games that are more advanced than our simple one. Our simple one got us smashed, i don't know what these net ones would do to me now. It was 10 years ago we had the "FORCE" party :D
