1. Introduction

This is where all Star Wars: A New Mod discussion will take place from now on. Everything from unit ideas, to graphics. Of course, individual threads for previews will continue, as most unit designers or graphics producers do not just produce their work only for one mod.

4. The Poll

The poll runing alongside this thread is to find out whether or not the general attitude of you guys is for us to quit or continue. There is, of course, no point in doing this just for our own benefit. This mod is for everyone. So what do you think?

5. The Rest

The rest has yet to be produced. Any ideas or contributions you can make will be appreciated. Although there are only four or five of us who are technically on the team, any work and ideas from anyone is appreciated and asked for.
 
:) As I have looked forward to a Star Wars mod, I would advocate concentrating on one era of the universe - that of the Imperial versus Rebellion.

Concentrating thus should allow quicker conclusion! :)
 
Keep it up, Pleb. By the way, I suggest you make the "barbarian" type unit be tusken raider for the eariler stage, and "banatha" with tusken raider riding it for "advance barbarian". Dunno about the transport, as the sandpeople have no ships, unless you use a skiff. :D

Thanks for that first link. I had no idea Isak was working on a Star Wars Mod as well. Well, to cut a long story short, tpasmall originally started this mod, as your second link will confirm. When he...vanished...a few of us took it upon ourselves to continue the work. jobiwan7 took charge, and the rest of us continued our efforts. Since then, we've accomplished much work.

Rirse:

Cheers Rirse! Barbarians have been replaced by Pirate Cartels in the mod. This means that the basic and advanced Barbarians will be unrelated units (such as maybe a Jawa and a Smuggler), and the Space unit for the Pirates will be a YT-1300 probably, or perhaps a different ship.
 
I might make a suggestion for an extra 2 Civs, from the Expanded Universe: the Yuuzhan Vong and the Chiss

I understand Yuuzhan Vong ships would be hard to make, and if I had a way to get the programs on my comp, I'd try my hand at them;)

The Chiss, as far as I know, simply use Imperial units, the only exception I can think of throughout the EU being the clawcraft.

The Empire and Rebel Alliance can stay as they are (unless you guys would like to have the Imperial Remnant and New Republic, my game has the Vong, GFFA, and Empire sharing Coruscant's different names as capitals: Yuuzhan'tar, Coruscant, Imperial Center, respectively)

I've already added the Vong and Chiss to my game, and have city lists for both that I can modify.

Most of the Vong cities are either planets they've taken in the NJO war, or Vong names, and I have all their gods as GLs

The Chiss, I simply used little-known (to most) planets, or planets that are far from the Core for them, plus I simply bunched them with the Ssi-Ruuvi, Yevetha, and Falleen (the first two are major in the EU and I couldn't let them be ignored)

I also have a New Republic/Galactic Alliance city list that I can modify for you guys and I do not believe it would be really hard to find enough planets for a Remnant one, all up to you. I could also help out with Civilopedia entries and info for the Civs and any extra units for them if you would like:)

As for units:

New Republic: B-wing, snowspeeder, Bothan Assault Cruiser, Mon Calamari Star Cruiser, Rebel (Gallofree) Transport, Lando's Lady Luck, YVH droid

Imperial: Executor-class Star Destroyer, Eclipse-class Star Destroyer, Victory-class Star Destroyer, TID/D(droid) fighter, Sun Crusher, Scimitar Assault Bomber, AT-MT

Chiss: See Imperial, Clawcraft, Virago, Ssi-Ruuvi picket ship, Ssi-Ruuvi battlecruiser, Ssi-Ruuvi command ship, Yevethan thrustship

Yuuzhan Vong: Coralskipper, tsik vai, etc etc, I can find these:)

Other: Hapan Battle Dragon, Hapan Nova-class Battlecruiser, Star Home, Darksabre, Combat Cloud Car, Marauder Corvette, My'til fighter

Most of these can be found in the Guide to Vehicles and Vessels or the New Guide to V&V:)
 
I think the Chiss would be almost essential, since other than the Vong, they're the only alien race in the EU that actually has anything behind it, plus Grand Admiral Thrawn was one;)
 
Looking at the units listed above, the Armored Assault Tank (AAT) which I made isn't included. I just had to point that out.

Right now I think we should just be focused on getting a completed mod out and then adding the Yuuzhan Vong and the Chiss later. Plus we would need to make units for both of those civs. Also I'm not into EU so I don't know much about either of those civs.

EDIT: I also think that maybe we should combine the Gungan units with the Royal Naboo, to give them more units. After all they do share the same planet.
 
Okay, good ideas. I've added the AAT, sorry about that. As for your EU idea, that was the plan anyway. These three installments listed above will be the first ones we do. After that...there could be a civ4 by then!
 
Some of the units in Daftpanzers spacewar:evolution mod look like they are yuzzhan vong units. Chiss units could just have their skin pallete changed but the Chiss ascendancy didnt use imperial weapons. The only chiss that used conventional imperial weaponry was Thrawn. The clawcraft was just a modified Tie Fighter.

Hmmm I could try to come up with units for the Civil War scenario (including the EU continuation, after all, it didn't end until Vision of the Future;)) and descriptions for them.

The reason I said the Chiss use standard Imperial weapons, is that outside the clawcraft, no other Chiss technology has been included in the EU, after all the Chiss were only in the Thrawn Trilogy, the Hand of Thrawn Duology, Survivor's Quest, Force Heretic II: Refugee, and various Jag Fel NJO appearances, so coming up with totally original units for the Chiss would be quite difficult:)

I like the idea to use domain names for Vong cities, I simply use Vong character names to have a bit of variety. Oh, and don't forget Yun-Yammka, even if they did make him up;)

Here is all the information I could find about chiss units. All but the clawcraft are completely chiss.

Chiss Ascendancy Space Units:

Commander's Glider-this was the name given to the hyperdrive-equipped shuttle that was carried aboard every Chiss warship, as a diplomatic ship assigned to the senior-ranking officer aboard the warship

Firepoint(Possible Defensive Unit)
this was the term used by the Chiss to describe any remote military installation located to that it could protect another installation. Firepoints were often housed in asteroids or other natural bodies. Inside the asteroid was a self-contained military base, complete with fighters or weapons emplacements. If an enemy ship tried to reach a hidden Chiss location, they would have to pass by one or more of these firepoints, and would be destroyed or disabled long before it reached its target. The Chiss lined the outer edges of The Redoubt with firepoints, to protect the refuge they had hidden within the cluster

Nssis-class Clawcraft
this was the form of starfighter developed by the Chiss in the early years of the peace accord between the Imperial Remnant and the New Republic. Named for their appearance, clawcraft were constructed from the cockpit and engines of a standard TIE Fighter. Instead of solar panels for wings, the clawcraft had four curved, arm-like projections sprouting from the sides of the cockpit, each tipped with a modified L-s7.2 TIE Fighter laser cannon. Measuring just over 7.5 meters in length, the clawcraft also had limited hyperspace capabilities, lacking a true navigational computer in favor of realspace anchor points near each Chiss-inhabited planet. It could attain speeds near 1,000 kilometers per hour in atmosphere.

Paskla-class Vessel
this was a form of Chiss starship. It resembled a slightly flattened sphere in shape, and the interior of the ship was filled with small chambers for the transport of various goods.

Chiss Acendancy Land Units:

Phanlanx
this was the based form of military unit which made up the Chiss armed forces. Each of the twenty-eight Chiss colony worlds was required to send a complete Phalanx to Csilla, where they were integrated into the Army and Navy controlled by the Nuruodo family

Household Phalanx
this was the name of the group of loyal Chiss retainers who guard a Chiss noble. The formation of a Household Phalanx mirrored that of the twenty-eight Chiss phalanxes which made up the Chiss military.

Nice work people. Because there seems to be a divide on what to do next, I am going to suggest this. Two teams - one work on Galactic Civil War, one work on Exapanded Universe. Good or bad idea?
