Forbidden Palace doesn't make much difference...

I built the Forbidden Palace, and some of the cities right next to it are still producing only one shield and one gold per turn. I thought this wasn't supposed to happen with the 1.15 patch. Would someone mind explaining this to me?

i think that in 1.15 they changed the forbidden palace to only help against rank corruption. That means that distance is counted towards your capital and the city rank is counted towards forbidden palace(assuming forbidden palace is closer that palace).
If your cities are very far from your capital the forbidden palace won't help very much.

im on 1.15 and i agree with the above, rank coruption. most i seen drop is one red to blue shield when first built. but as i claim more cities, it seems to be doing the job of keeping things inline..

hmm, does that make any sense ? im too tired :)

If you have too many cities closer to your Palace than the distance between your FP and your palace, the cities around your Forbidden Palace will be corrupt.

In other words, try to place your Forbidden Palace so that its rank is well within the OCN.

I'm not as good with corruption as alexman, but I tend to build them in 50% corrupt cities now, and in areas that will benifit from max production.

If you want to see corrupt free, try Communism and build the SPHQ!

Hmm, Forbidden palace do help, at least in some cpnquests.. I played the Age of Discovery (great conquest btw!) as Spain, built the forbidden palace in northern South America and got the surrounding cities almost corruptionfree (didnt even have to build courthouses in the mexico area).
1.15 btw.
Don't know if its quite as good in epic games.
Geez, I have to start playing some regular epic games soon.
It's been too many conquests lately :P

You should take a city in the 50-60% corruption range to your palace with a lot of cities around it that have potential.

Placing it farther away - no effect, except the FP city everything will remain corrupt without noticeable improvements.

No second core anymore!

I experienced the same thing in one of my games, i placed the FP far away and boom - next to no effect.

placing it close in the 50-60% corruption range gives the cities around it a great boost.

Regarding the Age of Discovery: Corruption model has been tweaked for AoD, see the description. So do not take your experiences from this conquest to be recommendable for normal epic games.

I agree that a city with 50% corruption without a courthouse should have your FP placed near it. This will make a number of cities that will have low corruption and will form an oblong shape similar to a race track.

Hmm, I thought corruption was just decreased..

ok i'm playing C3C with NO patch at all and i've not seen this problem with the FP. corruption in the city i build it in is ZERO and the cities right next to it have maybe one shield being wasted. basically, for me its acting as a second palace as it should.

in fact most of the problems others are having i've not seen once and i've played several games already.

the ONLY bug i am seeing (or one that i take issue with) is the new civs that came with C3C are ocassionally put into the same game twice. the first time it was the dutch (see my double dutch threads in bugs) and now sumeria in my latest game and before it portugal was in the game before it twice as well. any word of a fix for THIS problem?

Just because you don't see the bug, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

With no patch at all, the FP had other, more serious problems. You were better off not building it at all, as you would get more total corruption in your empire by building it. Even though it looked like it was acting like a second palace, it was actually increasing corruption around your real palace.

it may exist but it doesnt appear to exist in mine. maybe the corruption around the first palace is slight, i dont know but things look normal to me.

cities around both have very low corruption.

either way it doesnt seem to be making much of a difference to me and i've been playing games on huge maps.
