Swedish mechanized artillery unit, equipped with the double-barreled AMOS mortar system.

Please note: due to my lack of time, I didn't test this in the game, but since the anims looked fine in Flicster I released it. Please drop me a note if there are in-game problems with this unit, then I'll fix them

Hm, why aren't those animated gifs displayed directly, while the static preview in the post above is? Or can I choose that somewhere in my profile (it is the first time I'm here since the update to vbb 3).

Either it's file size or size of the pictures your posting most likely.
Nope, its the fact that you posted more than 1 at a time. If you remove one, then the other will be displayed.

I wish I could have had some input in the making of this. I have one qualm. The attack is too peaceful. I've seen this thing on trials and those are BIG guns. They are 2x120mm mortors. They produce a LOT of recoil for such a light unit. It rocks a lot when it fires and there is little or no "flame" out of the barrel, very clean.

Nothing like an explosion with 3 dimensional shrapnel flying off the turret.

Nice death animation... :)

I like this unit but decided not to use it cause of the lack of recoil. If it had a nice deep recoil I'd use it for sure. Yo Bro!! Any chance on a recoil update?

By the way, is it related in any way to Tori Amos? Did she design it or something? Was it named to honor her?

Can't promise an update, but I might do it during the summer :)

AMOS is for Advanced MOrtar System :D

aaah, pretty please BeBro ... ah sweet update during the summer would be great! :D

And yes, AMOS stands for Advanced MOrtas System and is a joint venture between Hägglunds Vehicles, Sweden and Patria, Finland.

I agree with unscratchedfoot, the unit shows your usual attention to detail. but, the reaction from such a large detenation is lacking. looking forward to an update. Thanks for the great unit.

Ok, lil more info bout the awesome lookin CV90AMOS :D

Also designated: SSG120 or Grkpbv 90120 (swedish)

Operates in groups of 2 or 4.
ROT: 20 rpm, 10 per barrel
First 4 shells fired within 5 sec, time to target 2 objectives: 30 sec
Multiple Round Simultanious Impact (MRSI): 14 rounds
Range of Fire: approx 10 km with standard swedish mortar amunition, inkl Bofors STRIX.
The SSG120 carries 60-80 rounds of ammo.
The Mortar System has the ability to fire at targets directly, Range: approx 1km
Secondary arms: Heavy machinegun, coaxial with the Mortars.
Speed Forward/Backwards: 70/45 Km/h
Crew: 4

And lil info bout the positions of the barrels :)

In running the barrels are positioned forward.
In alert status, they are raised to 45 degrees and pointing forward.
... and the recoil is approx 25-30% of the total barrellenght (not determed yet)

These figures may change since its not yet "completed". Its still being tested by the Swedish Armed Forces.

The AMOS-turret is also being fitted on the swedish CombatBoat 90 for the Coastal Defence, and in Finland on a PASI XA-203 6x6 vehicle.

The SSG120 will be delivered to the Swedish Armed Forces during 2006.

Hope that was interestning enough to read :p :D
